Your view will be either of the bay, the ocean, or the city. These views, along with the contemporary design with a stylish Oriental flair, make this luxury hotel a great choice. The design of the building is uninteresting when compared to some of the other hotel options in Singapore, but the interior is breathtaking.

The Mandarin Oriental Shanghai is a gorgeous luxury hotel located in Shanghai’s new Harbour City development, a skyscraper-dotted expanse of green in the heart of Pudong’s growing financial district, just minutes away from Shanghai IFC and the Shanghai World Financial Centre.
Although the hotel is across the river from the historic city center, it is conveniently located for tourists because it’s only a 10-15 minute walk to Lujiazui metro station and some of Shanghai’s major sightseeing attractions (e.g., Pearl Tower). It is also located on the riverside. A one-minute stroll from the hotel entrance takes you to a beautiful riverside promenade lined by lush greenery and excellent restaurants. 7. Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London
Sitting between glorious Royal Parkland and the buzz of fashionable Knightsbridge, Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London, has guest rooms that have just been refurbished in 2019, offering contemporary grandeur and luxury. The refurbishment was necessary after a fire ripped through this five-star hotel in 2018.
This beautiful red brick Edwardian hotel stands proud on one of the most prestigious roads in London and is almost adjacent to Hyde Park corner roundabout and tube station. This brilliantly located hotel overlooks Hyde Park, an unmissable park to stroll in after a large hotel breakfast.
In fact, you must choose one of the rooms overlooking the park. All rooms have a wonderful “Mandarin Oriental” style combined with Art Deco, but those overlooking the park will trick you into thinking you are waking up in the English countryside rather than the center of the city.
8. Mandarin Oriental Bodrum
Discover the Mediterranean idyll at Mandarin Oriental, Bodrum. Located along Turkey’s sparkling Riviera on the aptly-named Paradise Bay, this bespoke 129-room hotel stands encircled by olive groves with two exclusive beaches and a watersports center that offers everything from scuba diving to Jet Skiing.
Watch the passing yachts from your private cabana, take a dip in one of two pools, play tennis, or join a Pilates class. 10. Mandarin Oriental Geneva
We visited the Mandarin Oriental Geneva in the summer of 2018. This is one of the best luxury hotels in Geneva, and if you pick room 722 you can enjoy a wonderful sunny terrace overlooking a river that drifts into Lake Geneva.
Yes, this Mandarin Oriental is located on the banks of a wide river that leads into Lake Geneva. It is perhaps one or two minutes of a pleasant riverside walk to reach the main lake, where you can literally walk for miles around the water’s edge, to Geneva’s old town, to the lido for swimming, or you may simply choose to stroll along the promenade for as long as your legs will bear.
Unsurprisingly, the hotel is Oriental in style, with a touch under 200 rooms, with cream carpets and dark brown wood. I particularly like the blinds inside the glass wall that separate the bathrooms from the bedroom. These can be pulled up or down, set to shut or open; they are fun to play with, and the result is a light, airy bathroom, even though the finishings are black marble.
The foyer feels intimate, with loads of marble and mirrored pillars. An impressive flower arrangement greets you as you arrive through the rotating doors, and the back walls of the stairs offer underlit etchings that remind me of something you might find in an Egyptian pyramid. As well as the reception desk, there is a helpful 24-hour concierge service. There are also two restaurants and the MO bar, along with a 24-hour fitness center so you can keep active if walking along the banks of Lake Geneva isn’t enough for you. Finally, “La Suite Beauté” offers treatments and massages with products by Geneva-based Swiss luxury cosmetics company Bellefontaine, and there is a hairdresser hidden away too.
All the restaurants and bars in the hotel have views across the road, and the Café Calla, where you take breakfast, and the MO bar, both spill out onto the street so that you can take a drink or a bite close to the water. We also enjoyed a superb evening meal at the Gastronomic Indian, Rasoi by Vineet.
Of course, there are many other Mandarin Oriental hotels around the world. Highlights include the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, Beijing – Wangfujing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, which has two Mandarin Oriental hotels, the main Mandarin Oriental and The Landmark Mandarin Oriental. There are also great hotels in Jakarta, Macau, Sanya, Taipei, and Tokyo.

For us, the most exciting new hotel in the Mandarin Oriental portfolio is probably the new Mandarin Oriental due to open in Hawaii in 2020. The Mandarin Oriental, Honolulu will be the anchor of Mana`olana Place, a 36-story mixed-use tower with gardens and public plazas. The 36-story tower is scheduled to open in 2020. The building will have 125 hotel rooms and is designed to reflect the Hawaiian culture. It will also house over a hundred residences. The owners of the residential apartments will be able to use hotel services.
Mandarin Oriental, Honolulu will feature a rooftop restaurant and bar with landscaped outdoor terraces, providing views of Diamond Head, Ala Moana Beach, and Downtown Honolulu. There will also be a lobby lounge, an all-day dining restaurant, an outdoor swimming pool, a holistic spa, and extensive banqueting and meeting spaces with views over the surrounding terraces and gardens.
