Built in 1885, George House Heritage B&B is located in Dildo, the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Escape to a wild and rugged land where you might just spot a whale, seal, iceberg, or even a moose passing by from your bedroom window.

Perched on the Dildo Bay in the historic, quiet seaside village, this friendly bed and breakfast is situated just less than a mile from the town’s center, 50 minutes away from the capital, St. John’s, and 90 minutes to Cape St. Mary’s. The nearest airport hub is St. John’s International Airport serves flights to and from London-Heathrow, Dublin, Cancun, Toronto, Ottawa, and Halifax, for example.

Rooms
Five luxurious, eponymous suites are elegantly appointed with private en-suite baths, granite accents, air conditioning, and whirlpool tubs. The Lloyd Room, for example, was named after Lloyd George, the great-grandson of Thomas George, the original owner of the land that the bed and breakfast sit upon. The spacious rooms either have a partial or full ocean view. An outdoor picnic space, veranda, and garden overlook the stunning waters. Freshly baked cookies are available as an evening snack, and you may also take some cookies, jam, or chocolates for the road home. Free parking is available onsite.

Breakfast
Breakfast is served from 8:00 – 9:30 am in their Victorian-style dining room, though they would accommodate guests who check-out prior to 8:00 am with a light continental self-serve breakfast. Their hot breakfast selection always consists of cereals, fresh eggs, fresh fruit, bakery bread, coffee, teas, and juices. Unique choices may include their Blueberry Cheese Pancakes.

Get a taste of their famously delicious cuisine you would try whilst overnighting at George House Heritage by purchasing a copy of their very own, George House Heritage Bed & Breakfast Kitchen Recipes also available on Amazon.

Activities
Explore the Avalon Peninsula, where you will discover the rich history of the fishing community. Discover Cape Spear, the most easterly point of land in North America, along with a restored 160-year-old lighthouse, which is also the oldest in Newfoundland and Labrador. Perhaps take a leisurely stroll past the vibrantly painted homes of St. Brides. Once you move inland, thousands of caribou roam the open ground. Spot whales and vast colonies of seabirds at Witless Bay Seabird Ecological Reserve, just south of St. John’s in St. Mary’s Bay and in Placentia Bay.

Nearby in the town of Brigus, about forty minutes away, attend the annual three-day Blueberry Festival held in mid-August of each year that is fun for the whole family.
