information about this post

A hidden gem tucked away on Ireland’s west coast, Screebe House is the perfect luxury retreat for those who want to explore the romantic, rugged landscape of this beautiful travel destination. Whether you’re keen to get out and about and enjoy hiking, hunting or fishing, or if you simply want to admire the view from beside a log fire with a warming glass of Irish whisky in your hand, you’ll find that this hotel is well equipped to suit your needs. The nearest airport is Knock, and Ryanair offers direct flights from Luton and Stansted, while Aer Lingus operates out of Gatwick. Screebe House is situated just over an hour and a half’s drive away from Knock.

Hotel
Set in a stunning location on the shores of Camus Bay, Screebe House is a Victorian shooting and fishing lodge which was lovingly restored in 2010. Tastefully decorated throughout, with careful attention to detail, original features and a traditional style have been maintained, with log fires, wooden floors and beautiful antique furnishings.

Rooms
The Victorian décor continues into the hotel’s ten bedrooms – eight in the main house, two in the adjacent spa lodge – with chandeliers, polished wooden furniture and richly patterned curtains and carpets creating a romantic feel of a bygone age. Whether you choose a deluxe room or a junior suite, you will enjoy an ensuite bathroom with underfloor heating, Voya toiletries and bathrobes and slippers, as well as luxurious towels, linen and goose down duvets, and Wi-Fi. Many rooms boast stunning ocean views, while others overlook the hotel gardens. Room Tips – Ask for an ocean view, and if you’re after the ultimate in luxury, ask for Room 4. It’s a little more expensive than the others, but well worth it, with a big bay window, spectacular views and bathtub as well as shower.

Restaurant & Bar
With wonderful views over Camus Bay, the dining room at Screebe House is the ideal spot to enjoy a leisurely meal with your nearest and dearest. The menu changes regularly with a focus on creating dishes from the freshest local ingredients available, especially seafood and in-season organic produce, and wines are carefully selected to compliment the food being served. The atmosphere is relaxed (no jackets or ties required for men) and the staff friendly and attentive. It’s worth noting that dinner is served on a set menu basis, with limited choice available, though the quality of the food is very high. Breakfast offers a wide range of cooked meals. There is also a cosy bar where you can enjoy a drink or two before or after your evening meal.

Pool & Activities
Screebe House boasts a beautiful spa area. In contrast with the rest of the property, the spa is ultra modern in design with an indoor swimming pool, gym, sauna and treatment room for massages and facials. If you’re brave enough, you can swim in the pool, then dive straight into the Atlantic from the pier before heading into the sauna to warm up! If you’re into hunting or fishing, Screebe is a dream destination and the hotel offers special packages which allow you to take full advantage of those activities. There’s also the stunning local beaches to explore as well as hiking, horseriding or sightseeing with some magnificent castles and beauty spots in the area.

Insider Info
Screebe House is fairly remote, so you will need a car to get out and about during your stay.

A beautiful and luxurious hotel set against a spectacular backdrop, Screebe House is an ideal base for a relaxing break on the west coast of Ireland.
