Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts has announced that they will be managing the Hotel du Palais in Biarritz. Les Echos reports that Four Seasons beat Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and Hyatt Hotels Corp. in final round bids. A €50 million EUR refurbishment program is planned for the 122-room luxury seafront hotel, which was a member of Leading Hotels of the World.
Described as a hotel where luxury meets history, the villa that houses the Hôtel du Palais in Biarritz, overlooking the Bay of Biscay, was built by Napoleon III for his stunning wife, Eugénie. Few travelers realize, however, that the Spanish-born beauty had been to Biarritz before, and that it was she who convinced her husband to visit the resort town in the first place. Rooms here are lavish, and high ceilings create a breezy, destination-appropriate vibe. Equally sumptuous is La Rotunda restaurant, where the beau monde comes for special occasion meals. There is an extensive wellness facility, complete with indoor pools and lounging areas with sea views. Outdoors, and large pools drop down directly down to the hotel’s own private area of beach, which also houses a beachside restaurant.
Biarritz is a ritzy coastal town located in the south west of France on the border of Spain. Once the refurbishment is complete, this surely is a must do hotel for the summer and a hotel I can’t wait to review! Ryanair flies from Stanstead to Biarritz. Flybe flies from Southampton to Biarritz.
