Book A Hotel

information about this post

The Mekong Delta is perhaps the most scenic river in Asia and certainly the most vibrant. The Delta is made up of nine rivers that form this huge and fertile region and produces enough rice to feed the whole of Vietnam as well as being a focus of fruit production, with lychees, pineapples, jackfruits, bananas and coconuts which grow in abundance. As a result, the plains are carpeted in an almost luminous green. Here, fishing boats, tourist boats, house boats and markets float upon the rivers and streams that criss-cross the landscape.

In Vietnam’s towns, you will be absorbed into the bustling commerce, in the countryside of the Delta, the pace of life slows right down. Watch buffalo wallow in rice paddies, coconut- and fruit-laden boats slowly wade through the soupy Delta waters. Travel through mangrove forests teeming with bird life and float past the remains of Viet Cong bunkers and Buddhist temples.
