In a fantastic location overlooking the beautiful St Brides Bay and Preseli Hills in Pembrokeshire, Wales, Roch Castle is the ideal setting for a romantic getaway, exclusive use stay or simply a weekend break. A stunning and unique place to stay, the castle boasts a rich and colourful history and offers guests luxury accommodation and first rate amenities. If you want the experience of staying in a 12th century castle, then a break here is definitely something to look into! The castle is about a five hour drive from London via the M4. If you prefer to take the train, the nearest station is Haverfordwest. The journey from London Paddington takes about four and a half hours.

Hotel
Originally built in 1195, Roch Castle has centuries of history within its walls. After being abandoned for a time following the Civil War, it was rebuilt in 1900 and today has found its place as a luxury property. It has attracted a lot of press attention, including being named as one of Britain’s big six British castle stays in The Independent. The interior of the building is elegant and modern in design, forming a striking contrast with the historic exterior and making this place a really memorable setting for a break away from it all. With the castle being quite small, the staff leave in the evenings, giving guests the delightful feeling of having the place all to themselves!

Rooms
The castle has six luxurious guest rooms, all with ensuite bathrooms and all modern in design, decorated in warm earth tones. Each one has lovely views, either of the coast or the beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside. Beds are either king size or super king size, with the highest quality bed linen, while bathrooms are stocked with aromatherapy natural toiletries, plush towels, bathrobes and slippers. All rooms have a TV, DVD player, iPod dock and tea and coffee making facilities. Room Tip – Due to the age of the castle, some of the rooms on the higher floors can only be reached by narrow, winding staircases, so some guests may prefer to opt for a room situated closer to ground level.

Dining
A delicious choice of freshly prepared and cooked breakfasts is available, including a full Welsh breakfast, and there is a spacious lounge with an honesty bar where you can chill out and relax with a drink. While there is no restaurant at Roch Castle, transport to sister hotel Twr y Felin, and their fine dining restaurant Blas, is at your disposal each evening and well worth taking advantage of for their delicious cuisine prepared with fresh local produce.

Activities
As you stroll around the castle, make sure you take notice of the beautiful art work you see all around you. Created by British artists, it was commissioned especially for the hotel and inspired by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. And on that note, there is some very beautiful coast and countryside to explore near the castle, including Newgale Beach and the pretty harbour town of Solva.

Insider Info
Due to the historic nature of the building, no children under the age of twelve are permitted to stay at the castle.

A luxury hotel with a difference, Roch Castle is a beautiful place to stay and well located in the Pembrokeshire countryside.
