In this article we list the top 5 best resorts in the buzzing Egyptian resort Sharm El Sheikh. Situated between the desert of the Sinai Peninsula and the Red Sea, Sharm El Sheikh offers sheltered sandy beaches, a busy nightlife scene, and a reputation as a major diving hotspot. It has to be on your list of places to go for some nearby winter sun.
Egypt Air flies from London Heathrow with a short stop in Cairo and the total journey time comes in at just 7 and a half hours; it’s hard to find comparable destinations without a long-haul flight. Next on your list is working out where to stay, and we can, of course, assist with that! Read on for our Top 5 Sharm El Sheikh resorts…
1. Hyatt Regency Sharm El Sheikh Resort
Ideally situated on the Sinai Peninsula, The Hyatt Regency offers outstanding views, access to three private beach coves and one of the most spectacular diving sites in the region.
Exotic in style and set in lush botanical gardens with amazing landscaping, there are 432 guest homes, suites, and villas that are cleverly laid out to ensure as many rooms as possible can take advantage of the beautiful sea views. Make sure you select a Regency Club Room, they offer a higher standard of luxury and more privacy plus access to a Club House set in its own secluded world with private gardens, a private beach, and a pool with a whirlpool.
An excellent array of bars and restaurants are available here for your dining pleasure; my favourite has to be the Souk restaurant, laid out like an ancient marketplace with shops, food stalls and live performances. The swimming pools are like an attraction in their own right featuring dramatic cascades, an 80-metre corkscrew water slide, a 50-metre ‘lazy river’, waterfalls, grottos, whirlpools and more!
The team at the hotel is happy to arrange a variety of expeditions and trips in the local area. The Club Olympus Fitness Centre & Spa allows you an occasional rest from all this; it includes a sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, and plunge pool, and of course, a menu of tempting massages and treatments. The resort is also family-friendly and offers a kid’s club as well as daily kid’s activities. For a luxury hotel in Sharm El Sheikh, the Hyatt Regency really ticks all the boxes and definitely earns its’ number 1 spot on our Top 5.
2. Four Seasons Resort, Sharm el Sheikh
As you probably know, at Luxury Travel Diary, we are big fans of Four Seasons and their Sharm el Sheikh is no exception; a beautiful hillside diving resort with amazing Red Sea views. With four pools, a decent spa and fitness center plus five restaurants and three lounges, there is a lot to do in the resort itself. The 136 guest rooms are luxurious and stylish, as you would expect, but do check out the luxury suites for that little extra experience.
3. The Royal Savoy Sharm El Sheikh
A glamourous treat awaits at the Royal Savoy, this place is all about the exclusive, the intimate and personal service. Facilities include a lounge, terrace, three swimming pools, and a private area by the beach. There are 42 and 37 suites, plus some rather fabulous newly-built honeymoon suites. The spa and wellness centre is the perfect spot to relax and entry is included for hotel guests. Note this is not a family resort, as no children until 12 are allowed.
4. Hilton Fayrouz
Fantastically situated in the center of Naama Bay, the Hilton Fayrouz has its own private beach exclusively available for hotel guests. Its’ diving school also comes highly recommended. The bungalow-style guest rooms would definitely get my vote; they have their own private patios. Request one that overlooks the beach to watch those magnificent sunsets from the privacy of your own room.
5. Sheraton Sharm Hotel & Resort
This resort is vast, but the facilities are great, there’s a private beach plus 11 outdoor pools and an impressive spa center. The exotic villas are definitely the rooms to choose from and include their own shared pools. With some 6 restaurants and 7 bars (plus a nightclub), you’ll be spoilt for choice of dining options. A shuttle bus is provided between the resort and Naama Bay.
