In this review, I look at the top 5 best hotels and resorts on Koh Lanta, a peaceful and culturally rich island that is just a stone’s throw from Phi-Phi in Thailand.

Tourists flock to Koh Lanta for the miles of white sand beaches unpolluted by jet skis and the nearby dive spots of Hin Daeng, Hin Muang, and Ko Haa. Away from the beaches, there is also plenty to explore, from the rugged tree-covered hills to the mangroves and traditional villages, although many prefer to simply luxuriate in their resort. Koh Lanta is only an hour and a half from Krabi International Airport. Most resorts are reached by a van and speedboat (or ferry) transfer over to the magical island of Lanta.

I have picked the top 5 best hotels and resorts on Koh Lanta.

1. Crown Lanta Resort
Crown Lanta Resort & Spa (pictured above) is ideally located, giving you the privacy of paradise while also offering access to all the sights and sounds that Koh Lanta has to offer. It is one of the top honeymoon resorts in Thailand This beachfront resort stretches across 22 hectares of park-like land across gentle hills which lead down to dramatic cliffs overlooking the sea. The resort takes advantage of the stunning views across the ocean and Phi Phi Islands. An intimate and private white sand beach sits in front of the resort, and there is also direct access to the famous 3km long Klong Dao Beach.

83 generously-sized rooms surround the two resort pools, one with a swim-up bar and a happy hour from 5:00 – 7:00 pm which is the perfect place to try the best margaritas in Thailand. Enjoy the tastes of Thailand at the on-site restaurants, and be pampered at the rejuvenating Infinity Spa. In the evenings, sit beachside at the Reggae Bar and enjoy a cocktail while experiencing one of the best shows on the island – the sunset.

2. The Houben Hotel
The Houben Hotel Koh Lanta (pictured below) is a private small boutique hotel run by a Belgian family comprising 15 sea view rooms graciously perched on a cliff.
