I’ve been struggling with what to get my partner as a Christmas gift (don’t worry, he’s banned from reading this blog until after Christmas, too many hints) and have been toying with the idea of luggage as he travels so much with work. The luggage he currently uses to cart around his clothes and laptop is scruffy and doesn’t really fit his professional attire.
Then I came across Both Barrels and their first luxury luggage and accessories collection. The first collection is simple yet oh so stylish and includes two sizes of laptop or Macbook sleeve (13 and 15 inch), a wash bag, a backpack and a holdall or weekend bag. Each piece is made from Yorkshire wool, Belgian leather, military-grade cotton (extra strong), and ballistic nylon (the sort of stuff stab vests are made from) and has a water-resistant membrane which makes them both brilliant to look at as well as super practical.
The interior of each item is also a bright purple and has various internal pockets for keeping laptops and other smaller valuables safe and sound.
The range starts at just £80 GBP plus postage, which is extremely reasonable for such a high-end range. I went for the holdall (£285 GBP) and the washbag (£100 GBP) with the hope of commandeering the holdall myself from time to time) and they look even better in real life than they do on the website. The quality of the materials used is just stunning. The holdall has handles as well as a useful extended strap for throwing over your shoulder, and the interior mesh pocket and exterior zipped pockets are perfect for popping in valuables and travel tickets you need to get to with ease. It’s also within most airline carry-on dimension limits, which is great. The washbag is like a mini-version of the holdall, making them the perfect pair.
Even though I bought these with my partner in mind, the collection is gender-neutral, and I’ll definitely be using the holdall when I can get my hands on it. The Macbook sleeves are also on my shopping list for the New Year as they’ll be perfect for transporting my Macbook when I’m globetrotting and writing reviews on the go – they’ll really ensure I look the part. The whole collection is also completely made in Britain, so I’ll be able to proudly represent my country worldwide.
