When you want to get back to nature but do so surrounded by luxury and beauty, where better to go than the stunning Plataran Menjangan Resort & Spa which is nestled in the heart of the West Bali National Park in Indonesia. You are literally surrounded by the wilderness with deer roaming freely, jungle, mountain, mangroves; the views are never-ending and the beauty of this place: unparalleled. The airport in Bali is called Denpasar and you can fly with several airlines from London in about 16 hours (connecting flights only), the resort is then about a 3-hour drive from the airport and the resort will assist with your transfer if requested.
Resort
As well as it’s stunning National Park setting, the beautiful Plataran Menjangan Resort & Spa is overlooking the ocean so offers breath-taking sea views as well. This is a resort with strong eco morals and they pride themselves on conserving the environment. The accommodation is the resort is split between private villas and luxury residence suites and there are a selection of restaurants and bars, as well as an amazing infinity pool. The service is charming, everyone seems so happy to be here and are very polite and hospitable.
Villas
The luxury villas are each built like a traditional Joglo house and each benefit from a private plunge pool and garden. The pools have ocean views and the lush gardens are a few steps from the soothing waters below. The suites are situated in three towers and are designed with a beach house in mind, ocean views are king here with huge windows and an unblocked view, some of the rooms catch the sunrise and others the sunset but whichever you pick they’re amazing! The villas and suites are equipped with first-class international-standard amenities, including a king-size bed, private bathroom area with toilet and shower, LCD television, mini bar and coffee & tea making facilities.
Restaurants & Bars
There are a selection of eateries serving delicious Thai cuisine, the main one being the Octagon Ocean Club, so named for its shape which is designed this way to maximise viewpoints! The Wantilan Restaurant is a small open kitchen, there is also the Wantilan Deck and a fabulous Gazebo Wantilan which has got to be the most romantic setting for a meal; a wooden gazebo facing the Menjangan island and offering breath-taking views overlooking the mountains.
Pool & Activities
You’ll find it hard to spend time anywhere apart from the fabulous infinity pool with it’s amazing ocean views, and to be honest there’s very little reason to leave as the pool bar provides all the beverages that you might need! If you can tear yourself away, it’s worth it as this resort has its’ own yacht! The Plataran Menjangan Yacht can be used for cruises for pleasure or to reach a specific destination, it’s beautiful and the 360 degree views across the ocean and back to the resort are fabulous. While some time spent just relaxing and getting back to nature is essential here, there are also a range of arranged activities which can really make your trip; choose from cruises (of course!), kayaking, trekking and cycling, but basically if you tell them what your interests are, they’ll take you there – maybe visiting nearby temples or going coffee tasting appeals, or try snorkelling – it’s excellent here with stunning coral reefs and fish aplenty.
Insider Info
Don’t miss the complimentary afternoon tea where delicious Indonesian snacks are served.
For a truly unique experience, that leaves you totally revitalised and invigorated, there can be few more rewarding places to stay than the Plataran Menjangan Resort & Spa.
