In this review I look at the ultimate luxury glamping experience at Menjangan Dynasty Resort. Why not start the new year with a bang with an all action outdoor adventure holiday in the sun! The ideal spot to do just that is The Menjangan Dynasty Resort in Bali – a Beach Camp and Dive Centre. This is the ultimate in glamping in a world class diving location. And if the activity all gets too much there’s always the option to laze about in the sunshine and be pampered too! Flights to Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali from London take in the region of 17 hours including a connection and the resort is about a 4-hour drive from the airport.
Resort
The Menjangan Dynasty Resort is an eco-friendly, tented, boutique resort which is set on 16 hectares of land on a quiet peninsula beside a gorgeous white sandy beach in Northwest Bali. This is ultra-luxurious glamping and facilities include an all-day dining restaurant; Pasir Putih, an infinity swimming pool, a spa and a dive club and water sports centre. Although there is a suitably relaxed atmosphere, service is important here and your safari-suited staff are always on hand to ensure that you have everything that you need and that your stay is a comfortable one.
Accommodation
The tented rooms and villas are constructed from luxury, high-quality African safari tents. The interiors maintain the charm and mood of luxurious safari accommodation with natural materials and muted colours plus the odd quirky touch here and there. There are 24 Beach Camp Tents as well as 2 stunning one-bedroom Cliff Tent Villas and 2 two-bedroom Cliff Tent Villas as well. This is about as far from old-school camping as you can get and much closer to a luxury five-star hotel! The Beach Camp Tents are 39.5 m² and include a large decking area with day bed and loungers; the ideal spot to relax mid activity! The villas are 61 m² and 82 m² and even include a private infinity plunge pool! Combine the feeling of sleeping in the great outdoors with only canvas between you and the stars, with flat screen TVs, air conditioning and Wi-Fi and you’ve got a good idea what staying in the resort is like! Other amenities provided for your comfort include a DVD player, reading lamps, desk, leather jockey stool, rattan-panelled wardrobe, mini-bar-fridge, and a bathroom with hand-painted tiled floor, a monsoon shower, a well-lit vanity unit with washbasin and mirror, toilet with a bamboo screen for privacy and a picnic hamper brimming with bathroom amenities.
Restaurants & Bars
The Pasir Putih Beach Club & Bar is a beach club concept which serves a mixture of Western and Indonesian cuisine throughout the day in a fabulous open-sided bamboo building; rustic, barefoot chic is very much the mood here as well as the dress code! There is a wide-ranging a la carte menu, daily specials and a tapas menu to choose from. The portions are huge, the food is delicious and their signature cocktails come highly recommended too. Why not bring some romance into your adventure break and take up the option of dining on the beach with the sun setting around you; a most memorable way to dine.
Pool & Activities
This is one seriously impressive infinity swimming pool; 158 m², set right on the cliff edge and at the deepest point it’s 3.5 metres deep so it’s used as a dive training pool too! There’s also a 32.5 m² beachside swimming pool surrounded by bamboo cabanas and beanbags on the white sandy beach for the more sedate moments of your visit! The activities are a huge part of life at the resort, take your pick from snorkelling, diving, trekking, mountain biking, bird-watching or horse-riding; or of course, why not try it all?! The turquoise sea is calm and inviting; perfect for kayaking, canoeing, or stand-up paddle boarding. The 5-star PADI dive resort centre and water sports centre is perfect for year-round professionally-guided scuba diving and snorkelling excursions and the reefs around Menjangan Island are only a half hour boat ride from the resort where spectacular marine life is just waiting to be explored. When the excitement all gets too much, why not pay a visit to the cliff-top Pasir Putih Spa tent, with its reflexology deck and private waterfront spa pods and indulge in a relaxing treatment.
