You can now fly the complete United Polaris Business Class experience on the Boeing 777-300ER. This is the first United aircraft to feature the United Polaris hard product; their new all-aisle access, lie-flat seat.

United launched its new Polaris Business Class in December 2016, replacing their BusinessFirst; and Polaris First replacing Global First cabins. The brand new United Polaris Pod concept, which is named after the brightest star in the Ursa Minor constellation, is the company’s most drastic product transformation in more than a decade. An upgrade driven by high benchmarks set by rival airlines, especially Emirates, Etihad and Qatar in the Middle East. United Polaris Business is comparable to Delta One and American Airlines Super Diamond Business Class, which both launched several years ago. I discuss which American Airline Business Suite is best separately.

The new United Polaris cabin is made up from a United Polaris forward-facing pods. The seats can be converted into 180-degree fully-flat beds measuring six foot six inches. The Polaris pods will be arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, ensuring direct aisle access for all customers. The new United Polaris seat, has now launched on United’s B777-300ER. The carrier’s upcoming B787-10 and A350-1000 aircraft will also offer the new product, while United is looking to retrofit its B767-300s and B777-200s. We’ve already reviewed the new United Polaris Business Class seat and you can see our photo tour of the United Polaris Business Class and read about my trip in United Polaris First which will slowly be phased out, but incorporates the new Polaris offering with the old First seats.

The new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft’s entry into service will mark the debut of United’s new wide-body cabin design. United will offer one round trip six days each week between Newark Liberty International Airport and San Francisco International Airport between Feb. 16 and May 4. The airline expects to begin 777-300ER intercontinental service between San Francisco and Hong Kong on March 25, with the aircraft replacing a Boeing 747-400 currently being used on the route.

United Polaris Business Class Experience On 777-300ER

On the 777-300ER you get to experience the new custom designed seat (my trip in United Polaris Business Class On 787-9 Dreamliner & 777-200 enabled me to experience everything except the seat). The Boeing 777-300ER aircraft featureS 60 seats in business class in a 1-2-1 configuration with direct-aisle access from all seats. A 180-degree flatbed that measures 6’6’’ and 23 inches wide offers infinite seat recline options and one-touch lumbar support. There is ample storage on multiple work surfaces that enable passengers to dine while working, a universal A/C power as well as 2-USB ports, a 16-inch high-definition entertainment screen, electronic privacy dividers for seats in the center of the cabin, mood lighting and an illuminated “Do Not Disturb” sign. The premium amenity kit is filled with Cowshed products which are really nice. Additionally, a new marble-topped bar unit offers customers in business class a place to grab a mid-flight drink or snack.

Throughout the aircraft, the cabin interior is comprised of bespoke branding elements as well as carpets, fabrics and wall laminates – that, like the United Polaris seat, were specially designed for United, as well as redesigned lavatories which include modern finishings and farmhouse-style sinks. With a focus on providing a more tranquil journey for customers, the new cabin design features LED mood-lighting to complement sleep and assist with time-zone changes as well as textured and softer touch materials which not only provide a more premium feel, but will absorb aircraft noise and other sound within the cabin.

United New Economy Experience On 777-300ER

Seats in United Economy will offer two United Private Screening options – personal on- demand entertainment with high-definition seat-back monitors and USB ports along with United’s personal device entertainment, enabling customers to play thousands of hours of movies and television programs on their electronic devices. Customers also will have access to in-seat power outlets and the opportunity to purchase satellite Wi-Fi.

The aircraft will feature 102 seats in United Economy Plus in a 3-4-3 configuration with 34 inches of pitch, and 204 United Economy seats in a 3-4-3 configuration with 31 inches of pitch.

The introduction of Polaris Business Class is the airline’s most significant product transformation in more than a decade and I will be flying on the 777 for a real life experience of this new seat in 2017.
