There are some excellent all-inclusive family hotels in Italy and here is our pick of the best.

Forte Village Resort, Sardinia
Forte Village Resort offers a captivating culinary adventure on the sun-soaked island of Sardinia. The resort is just a 45-minute taxi journey from the island’s Cagliari Airport. There are a variety of room options, from the smaller hotel room to palatial villas. This resort boasts three restaurants deploying the skills of Michelin-starred chefs – including a Gordon Ramsay outpost – along with five additional fine dining restaurants deserving of the honour. Guests are spoiled for choice with eateries offering wine and fine dining in the most perfect setting in the resort grounds or on the shoreside.

There are plenty of activities, although most prefer to take a leisurely dip in one of the many swimming pools and a stroll along the winding lanes of this vast, wooded site before enjoying a gourmet dinner (you must try the to-die-for lobster ravioli) in a stunning setting.

Hotel Caesar Palace, Sicily
Hotel Caesar Palace is a modern and unique hotel strategically set only 17 minutes walk from the beach, which can also be reached with the hotels complimentary shuttle bus. The hotel is ideally located within easy reach of the main sites in Sicily, including the cities of Taormina, Catania and Messina. Giardini Naxos, where the hotel is located, is renowned for its own ancient archaeological sites.

Hotel Caesar Palace offers professional entertainment staff available from July to September, who organise activities and events for all ages. The complex has its own restaurant with buffet service, a grill and pizzeria by the swimming pool (open in the summertime) and an a la carte gourmet restaurant. The all inclusive offering includes an American buffet breakfast, buffet light lunch and for dinner at the main restaurant and all drinks including sparkling wine, wine, spirits, draft beer and soft drinks.

Tui Sensimar Grand Hotel Nastro Azzurro, Sorrento
With standout views and a romantic rooftop bar it’s no wonder Tui Sensimar Grand Hotel Nastro Azzurro is a TripAdvisor award winner. This hotel is set high above Sorrento, with views over the bays of Naples and Salerno. Getting out and about is easy, too, thanks to a free shuttle bus that whisks you to the town centre in 15 minutes. As well as a smart pool scene, there are a couple of sleek restaurants and a rooftop cocktail bar. The heated pool offers sleek decking and is open from May to October. Padded sun beds and parasols align the pools edge making this the idea place to relax.

Buffet breakfasts and dinners offering both local and international dishes are available. The bar is open for light snacks and afternoon teas as well as pre-dinner drinks and night caps. Rooms are decorated in neutral earthy tones giving them a warm and inviting feel and there is a shared roof terrace offering outside space. This is a great all-inclusive although the one thing it is missing is a beach.

Hotel Marinedda, Sardinia
The 5 star Hotel Marinedda is situated on one of the most beautiful peninsulas in Northern Sardinia, where the red of the rocks sparkle as the sun sets over the Sardinian sea. Although not officially all-inclusive, you can book a full board package that will cover all your food for the duration of your stay. This hotel boasts a unique position offering spectacular views over the Gulf of Asinara in an area which is world-famous for its crystal-clear waters in amazing shades of blue.
