When selecting key pieces for your wardrobe it is always advisable to ask an expert. Branded ‘The High Street Guru’ by the fashion king George Davis, Award-winning fashion designer Tina Malhamé has been the go to designer for favourite brands including Per Una, Monsoon, Next and Laura Ashley. Tina has kindly shared her advice on updating your wardrobe ready for the summer with glamorous looks ideal for travel.
The Dress
You must have a good dress as the key piece for summer 2018, something that you can dress up and down for the office and for the evening. Look for a smart plain shade with a little clever pleat and an extra inch or two of fabric to skim the bust, hips and thighs, or choose the same simple dress in a ditsy floral or polkadots to give an extra dash of flair. This staple garment will be equally as useful in a formal meeting or thrown into a suitcase to take on holiday.
The Tunic Dress
The tunic dress can be worn with jeans on cooler spring days, and then on its own when the weather warms up or you are somewhere hot. Choose one with a modest V at the neckline to lengthen the neck and go for a soft print if you want to distract the eye away from problem areas. The tunic is a strong trend this season and it comes in a huge variety of colours and styles but make sure you can try on a few to find the right shape for you.
Holiday Tunics & Kaftans
Tunic dresses and kaftans are an absolute essential on trips away. They save your skin from the hot and harmful rays by the pool, but also are ideal to wear when exploring local villages or promenading along a sea front. I recommend packing at least 2 Tunics and Kaftans. I absolutely love wearing a linen tunic and straw hat to have a good rummage through markets, stopping for a quick bite and then perhaps taking a little tour to visit ruins.
Buy White
Buy something new in white. There are days in the summer when it is simply the most fabulous colour to wear. Lightly sun-kissed skin is beautifully complemented by a white dress, jersey or Capri pants.
Tina believes that women of all ages can still be glamorous and comfortable and has developed a collection which is functional, flexible and flattering. Alongside NoLogo’s best-selling Easy Jersey dress, Tina is continuously developing her collection and has even collaborated with James Cadbury of the Bournville empire to create a nightwear collection teamed with his fabulous Love Cocoa chocolate while NoLoGo’s first ever Chic Shift Dress has been a phenomenal success. Like all purchases from NoLoGo, it arrives in its own embroidered cloth bag. This combination of luxury, affordability and practicality is what only Tina can bring to the mix.
