In my recent trip to Singapore, I stopped by the British Airways lounge on my way out of the country. The lounge is located on the upper floor of the departure area of Terminal 1. It is located next to the SATS Premier Lounge and the Qantas lounge.
Unlike other British Airways lounges, the lounge in Singapore, which was overhauled and reopened in August 2015, does not differentiate itself as a Galleries or Terraces lounge. Instead, the lounge is simply, and logically, called the British Airways Lounge. The lounge is accessible for passengers flying Business or First class in BA or oneworld Sapphire or Emerald members flying oneworld airlines. For BA passengers flying First Class or holding a Concorde Room card, there is also a small exclusive Concorde Room section. Unfortunately, I did not get to visit the Concorde Room as I was neither. Check out our Concorde Room at Heathrow Terminal 5 for a taster.
The entrance to the lounge is a glass door with a large glossy BA blue frame. There are two small counters on the left and right side of the entrance staffed by attendants to check you into the lounge. After entry, the Concorde Room is to the right, while the bathroom and showers are to the left. The rest of the lounge stretches a long way straight.
The lounge has a variety of different seating arrangements. There are large sofas surrounding coffee tables, bar top style high chairs on long tables, large solid leather chairs, large swivel leather chairs, and lastly, small dining tables. At the back of the lounge, there is also a large business center area with a few desktop computers and office-style long tables with multi-pin adaptors. The lounge also has an area with some reading materials such as newspapers and magazines.
The lounge has 2 long walkways running the length of the lounge to the back. In the middle of the lounge is the food area. Like other BA lounges, there were only finger food and snacks during tea time. The food area was divided into 2 areas. One area is more for drinks, while the other has some food. In the drinks area, there is a long table in the middle with a variety of wine. This setup is familiar with other British Airway lounges around the world. On both sides of this drink area, there was a wide selection of hard liquor on the table and soft drinks in the fridges.
In the other food area, there is a smaller table in the middle with some hot food. As it was not dinner time, the hot food option was just soup. On the side of this area, there were some sandwiches, salad, cookies, dessert, and fruit. On the other side, there was a coffee machine and some tea. In the evenings, the lounge serves more hot food options.
As I was not particularly hungry, I just had some soup and wine. I also took a shower in the bathroom, which was clean and bright.
Overall, the British Airways Lounge is a decent lounge to visit. One thing to note is that the BA lounge only opens at 3:00 pm and closes at 11:00 pm.
