Receive complimentary breakfast at Luxury Hotels

In March, I had the opportunity to stay at Naumi Hotel in Singapore during a short weekend trip. Located centrally in Singapore, Naumi Hotel is a boutique hotel in a 10 storey annexe on a restored shophouse. The hotel is one of the two members of Small Luxury Hotels (SLH) in Singapore. Located in downtown Singapore, this neighbourhood has many hotels, offices and malls within walking distance. The hotel is also in between 2 MRT stations – Bugis and City Hall, making commuting to other parts of the city a breeze.

Naumi Hotel contains 73 luxurious rooms and artistically themed suites. The hotel lobby features a small check-in area and “Table by Rang Mahal”, the in house Indian restaurant. Each floor has a modern yet funky design, from the polished grey walls of the corridors to the metal sculptures hanging on the ceilings and art pieces on the walls and windows,

I stayed at the Habitat Room on the 9th floor, which is the entry level room. Opening the door to the room provides an immediate contrast, as the large windows let in great natural lighting. The decor of the room is luxurious and cozy. A long marble counter island sink that lights up stands near the entry door, in front of the shower and bathroom partitions. The shower and bathroom feature an amazing technology – glasses that become opaque at the flip of a button.

The room strives for a minimalist design, with many drawers hidden seamlessly into the decor. For example, underneath there is a drawer which contains toiletry amenities, and another which hides the (complimentary!) minibar which comes with some soft drinks and juices. There is extra storage spaces in the drawers underneath the bed. Lastly, there is also a pullout partition in the wall which contains the coffee machine, some glasses and the water boiler.

The large king bed in the room features a seven layer Egyptian cotton bedding, which translates to one very comfortable bed. One other special thing about the hotel is that each room features an Apple TV device. Travellers using Apple products can sync their devices to the TV to play videos or music. Alternatively, those without Apple devices can also log in to Netflix or browse Youtube or the internet through the Apple TV device. I think that this is one aspect that many international chain hotels can emulate – no one really watches Pay per view movies anymore these days in hotels anyway!

The jewel of Naumi Hotel sits on the crown – the hotel has an infinity pool and lounge, Cloud 9 Bar & Lounge, which features a breathtaking panoramic view of the Singapore skyline. The lounge has comfortable pool chairs and lounge chairs for those wishing to sunbathe or those just wishing to have a nice cocktail and enjoy the view.

As the hotel occupies a small building, the hotel gym is spread out over 3 rooms in 3 floors. There is a Weights room in Level 6, and a Cardio room in both Level 5 and 7. The gym rooms were small but very functional. The cardio rooms had a few different cardio machines, while the weights room had free weights, a weight training machine as well as an exercise ball. All the gym rooms were also stocked with water and towels.
While Naumi Hotel seems like a great destination to laze and play, the hotel also have strong offerings for the business crowd. There are 2 business meeting rooms – a smaller conventional conference room space on the 8th floor, and the majestic Varta Meeting Rooms on the 3rd floor. The Varta Meeting Rooms comprises of 2 distinctive spaces which can be combined. On one side, there is a large living room space with sofas and a TV for an informal and light meeting. On the other side, a long and grand dark wood table which seats 12 does not look out of place for any corporate boardroom. When combined together, the Varta Meeting Rooms is a great venue for a business meetings.

On the second day, I had the breakfast buffet at the hotel’s restaurant, Rang Mahal. Although it is an upscale Indian restaurant in the day, Rang Mahal serves a traditional western breakfast, with hot food such as sauteed mushrooms, baked beans, sausages, and cold food such as salad, cold cuts, and yogurt. There are also pastries, cereal, cheese, eggs to order and fresh waffles! The beverage selections are coffee, tea and some juices. While the selection was not the most diverse spread in town, the quality of the food was good.

Shortly after noon, I checked out of the hotel with a heavy heart. My short stay here had been a great and wonderful one. Naumi Hotel shines as a boutique hotel that blends technology and great spaces to provide a unique luxurious experience to guests. In many aspects, Naumi holds their own or even eclipses many international hotel chains. I would not hesitate to stay here again!
