I travelled through the Lufthansa Business Lounge at Düsseldorf Airport in April 2017 before a flight on Singapore Airlines A350 Business Class Düsseldorf to Singapore.
Singapore Airlines does not have its own lounge at Düsseldorf Airport. If you are flying on Singapore Airlines from Düsseldorf Airport of if you are flying a lower class but hold elite status with Star Alliance, then you will get access to the Lufthansa Business Lounge, which is located one floor above the airport’s main concourse.
The lounge is designed in a large, rectangle. The space was soulless but functional with dated decor. The lounge had several seating areas with comfortable leather chairs. One side of the lounge there were rows of soft chairs in front of a large TV screen. At the other side, there were some dining tables, adjacent to a smoking room.
The view was also rubbish in this lounge. The only natural light was through a corridor which ran between the lounge and the windows.
In the centre, there were some work cubicles with computers and a newsstand with complimentary German and international papers.
The main food space was located near the entrance. On offer were a choice of drinks and a meagre selection of snacks. I visited the lounge in the early morning hours when there was also breakfast available. The selection was limited, unappealing and not filling.
The lounge is located in the Schengen zone of the airport, so you still have to go through border control to get to the gate. Be sure to leave at least 10 minutes to get to the gate to board.
Overall this lounge was a disappointing start to a journey on the Singapore Airlines A350.
