The best airport lounge at London Gatwick is the British Airways First lounge (for First Class passengers), followed by the British Airways Business Lounge (for Club Europe and Club World passengers). These lounges are in Gatwick South Terminal.
There are no British Airways Lounges in the North Terminal, but Virgin Atlantic has its Clubhouse in Gatwick North Terminal. There are also 3 lounges that can be accessed with your Priority Pass. We have already reviewed which is the best Priority Pass lounge in Gatwick North Terminal. These lounges are also reviewed below.
I love the British Airways lounges at Gatwick Airport. They make traveling out of this otherwise shabby terminal much more enjoyable. I think the Business lounge for Club Class passengers is better than the British Airways Business Class lounges at Heathrow, although the Concorde room is the best British Airways lounge of all and can be found at London Heathrow.
Being brutally honest, in looks and seating alone, the First class British Airways lounge at Gatwick South is no better than the Business Club Lounge at Gatwick South which we have already reviewed with pictures. In fact, the seating on offer is pretty much identical, although the room itself is a more intimate space. What the First Class lounge does offer over the Business lounge is a quieter atmosphere and arguably a better view of the planes. You see, the Business lounge is partially overlooking an airport road and the top of part of the terminal.
The new British Airways Business lounge for Club passengers and First lounge is open at London Gatwick’s South Terminal, and it is an absolute cracker. Following a late opening due to electrical teething troubles, the lounge is now fully functional if a little hot. While I was there, the air conditioning was clearly not working, and the room was a balmy 24’C ish - not a problem for me, but another passenger complained that the heat was "disgraceful". Other than this issue, the lounge really was rather good.
The No1 Lounge in Gatwick Airport's North Terminal is, in my opinion, the best airport lounge in Gatwick North Terminal. Our review below outlines exactly why this lounge is better than the other Priority Pass lounge options. This is the only Priority Pass lounge in Gatwick North Terminal with a decent view across the runways (see pictures). The other lounges in Gatwick North face onto airport roads. This is the largest of the three lounges you can access with a Priority Pass. It is light and airy.
When in Gatwick Airport, I usually head straight to the No 1 Lounge in the North Terminal, but since writing my article about the new Aspire Airport lounge opening in Heathrow Terminal 5 I have been wanting to test the other Aspire lounges to see what else is on offer from Gatwick's Airport Lounges. The last time I traveled through London Gatwick's North Terminal, I used the No1 lounge and found the tables to be grubby and untended.
When I was walking towards my usual No1 Traveller Lounge in the North Terminal of London Gatwick Airport, which is complimentary with my Priority Pass which is included with my American Express Platinum Card, I noticed My lounge had popped up on the corridor to all the lounges. This lounge, branded My Lounge, is a third alternative for Priority Pass users and is an interesting option when the No1 Traveller lounges do occasionally get fully booked with pre-bookings. My Lounge looks like a Starbucks or a Costa.
Gatwick Airport South Terminal's main airport lounge is the No1 Traveller Lounge, with views directly over the runway and costs around £30 GBP per person. There is now a new lounge, or should I say, a set of 4 catered rooms, on the block in Gatwick South Terminal called Clubrooms. The new No1 Clubrooms in Gatwick South Terminal opened in October 2015. Clubrooms offer the ultimate luxury departure lounge with private rooms and a guest experience tailored to your group’s size and needs.
