The best luxury Riads in Fez, chosen by our expert, including luxury, boutique, and budget hotels, can be found below. Read our reviews and book a stay to experience a real taste of the old Morocco.

A stay in Fez will enchant you. Explore the Medina; a maze of narrow lanes, bewitching markets, mosques and full of hustle and bustle. Meander in the city historic gardens, explore stunning palaces, barter in the souks and bathe in the thermal baths. Allow yourself to be tempted by aromatic tagines, and the many silk and carpet shops which ooze vivid colour into the ancient streets, this city is packed full Unesco-worthy history. A cultural overload is really the only way to appreciate this magnificent city.

Fly into Fez-Saiss Airport (FES), which is 15km away from the city and serviced by Royal Air Maroc from Casablanca or Paris; Ryanair runs flights from Brussels, Hahn, Girona, Marseille, and Milan. Then take a bus or ‘grands taxi’ from the airport to the city center, or book a taxi through your Riad. Fez train station is about a 10-minute walk away from Place Mohammed V, and trains depart every two hours to Casablanca via Rabat and Meknès (there are also two overnight trains). There are also trains to Marrakech and Tangier.

I have picked the top luxury Riyads in Fez and reviewed each in turn. Whether you want an airy modern feel or rooms steeped in history, you will find something to tickle your travel buds below.

The historic and luxury at Riad Palais Amani is our top pick. This historic palace has been lovingly restored to create an opulent fifteen-bedroom hotel. Rooms and communal areas are filled with traditional Moroccan furnishings and exquisite tiling. The centerpiece of this Riad is a beautiful interior garden planted with fragrant orange, lemon, and tangerine trees. You cannot fail to feel part of the fabric of Fez at Riad Amani.

Our second choice is the stylishly Moroccan Karawan Riad, tucked up a quiet alley in the Medina of Fez. The hotel is a 17th-century Riad that has been lovingly restored and now offers just 7 unique luxury suites, which all feature exquisite Moroccan décor.
