If you want to fly to Europe, there are some new transatlantic airlines that offer hugely discounted seats to fly transatlantic to Europe. You don’t even need to book with a special discount code or in a sale, simply book the seats as soon as you can finalize your dates (the sooner the cheaper!), and you will be sure of a cheap, if slightly uncomfortable, trip across the Atlantic.
Primera Air
Recently, Danish airline, Primera Air which I review here, has announced plans for $139 USD transatlantic flights from Newark and Boston to Europe; Birmingham, London Stansted, and Paris Charles de Gaulle in 2018 using Airbus A321neos. In fact, the headline price was $99 USD, much like WOW Air’s headline $99 USD tickets to Europe, but I couldn’t find any tickets at $99 USD, only at $139 USD from New York and Boston into Europe. These flights will launch in April 2018. You can book your tickets right now, and Primera Air definitely offers one of the cheapest ways to fly transatlantic.
Like WOW Air below, the Primera Airfare includes very little. A checked bag, choosing your seat, and a meal will add $90 USD more to the cost of your ticket. The headline $99 USD price is a hand-luggage only fare and will get you to Europe. The return flight looks to be slightly more expensive, but to fly into Europe, it would be hard to find cheaper.
WOW Air
Unlike Primera Air, WOW air flights are routed via Reykjavik, which means you have a layover in Iceland to look forward to, and a much lengthier flight. Wow Air is, however, your other super-cheap option for flying transatlantic. I have reviewed their WOW Air A330 Business Class (they have a tolerable Premium Economy). The WOW Air Economy offering is less tolerable with very uncomfortable seats, although it is undeniably cheap.
Norwegian Airlines
I have already reviewed my flights on Norwegian Airlines. They offer the best Premium Economy transatlantic with their Norwegian Premium seats on their Dreamliner and they also offer super cheap economy tickets on direct routes out of London to the United States. They additionally fly direct from a number of other European cities to New York and the rest of America.
Norwegian Airlines comes at the top in my listing of the best 10 Premium Economy airlines in the world.
Other transatlantic airlines that fly directly from America into Europe include British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Air Canada, American Airlines, United and Delta, which all fly into London, as well as European airlines which include Lufthansa, Finnair, Swiss, Air France, KLM, Iberia, Turkish Airlines and many more, but for now, you will probably find the cheapest seats on WOW, Primera, and Norwegian.
If you are planning to fly in Business Class, it is worth reading my views on British Airways Vs. Virgin Atlantic for transatlantic Business Class. We currently feel that the United offers the best transatlantic Business Class seating with their newly retro-fitted Polaris seats on their 767. The only problem with booking with United, London to New York, is that you may get this retrofitted plane, or you may get an older plane with older seats, so be very sure when you make your booking.
