Book A Hotel

information about this post

If you are looking for Paradise off the East Coast of Australia, you won’t come much closer than Elements of Byron Bay. From the day we entered the resort until we left, it was a truly great experience, ranging from adventure to tranquillity, to education to relaxation.

The property is located a couple of miles north of Byron Bay, which can be accessed by a solar-powered train, which takes you from the property all the way downtown. It is apparently the first solar-powered train in the world.

An interesting perspective on this, is that one of the owners of Elements who made his fortune in coal mining, was instrumental in making this project happen; how times are changing!

Location

Byron Bay is located in the Northern Rivers region of NSW, just off the Pacific highway. The local airport is Ballina, about a 30-minute drive. Sydney is about 800 km south and Brisbane 170 km north. There is also a train station and bus depot in Byron Bay.

Style & Character

This eco-resort has multiple personalities and will cater to many of your needs. With a very laid back by design, the architecture lends itself to the indoor/outdoor poolside living, basic outdoor adventure and beach life. It is both family and business-friendly, and the ages of guests ranged from young to old.

Service & Facilities

The resort serves well as an intimate getaway. Service is plentiful and friendly. The staff are young and from every corner of the world.

There are so many things to do at Elements, from the on-site stables with horses offering horseback riding through the rainforest and cantering on the beaches.

Yoga, overlooking the beautiful white sandy beaches as far as the eye can see, or you can work out at one of the outdoor gyms followed by a hearty breakfast poolside.

The glorious, oversized pool is in the main resort area. Here, you can nap in the hammocks or retreat to the adult only pool where music thumps in the warmth.

Take a trip to the local distillery and try Brookie’s Gin, and tour the property, or head southwards and see the lighthouse, located on Australia’s most easterly point.

Take advantage of the daily complimentary nature walks, conducted by the resident activities manager. They last anywhere from an hour onwards and you will freely roam the property and enjoy birdwatching, trekking thru rainforest and learning about the local flora and fauna, plus local wildlife.

Accommodation

The rooms take the form of modern villas situated all around the property, distributed around the pools, sporting facilities and lagoons. They are very stylishly designed. Each villa has its own kitchen, with laundry facilities and locations vary from the lagoon, forest or dune, some come with outdoor screened porches or decks.

Food & Drink

The main area for food and drink is very open plan and has great views over the main pool and fire pit area. This restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The breakfast is extensive and of a high quality. Brilliant homemade muffins and eggs benedict….Try the local mushrooms too, very meaty.

There is also a bar where you can enjoy a separate eating menu. On certain evenings, there was music around the fire pit and different happy hours happen throughout the week. Other drinking holes include the beach club and the adult pool.

In the evening, you must try cocktails by the fire pit, or a sunset drink at the beach club, a converted caravan surrounded by beach loungers overlooking the ocean via a white picket style fence.
