During my stay at the InterContinental Lisbon, I had access to their club lounge, Club InterContinental. Located on the ground floor towards the back of the hotel, the entrance of the club featured a big floral and bamboo decoration.
The lounge was decorated with modern and comfortable furniture. Warm dark wood blends with the hues of dark blue around the club to give a nice elegant touch to the interiors. On the right side of the entrance was a small reception which was always staffed by a smiling staff. The left side of the entrance had 2 small round tables with 2 chairs each. Behind them was a big bookshelf with many interesting books as well as interesting Asian statues. There were 2 workstations here for those who wanted to use a computer.
The centre of the room opened up to various lounging seating arrangements for groups. There was also a row of sit down dining tables along the right side of the lounge all the way towards the back.
The main attraction of the lounge, however, was towards the middle of the back area, where the food counter was. The club lounge has three services a day, breakfast, afternoon tea, as well as evening cocktails.
For the morning breakfast, there were usually 4 hot dishes such as hash browns, sausages, baked beans and eggs. There were also cold cuts, various pastries, cheese, and fruits. The food counter also had 2 different smoothies, juice, various types of milk and yoghurts. I was also offered fresh orange juice and coffee when I sat down.
One interesting aspect for breakfast is that there were also a few dishes that can be ordered to be prepared fresh. I had fresh baked Portuguese eggs and toast one day. Another impressive item that the lounge had was 3 types of butter; Goat’s, Cow’s and Sheep’s! This was the first time that I had seen a hotel offer these instead of a salted / unsalted butter as the options.
For the afternoon tea, the hotel prepared some bread, sandwiches, croissants, nuts, cakes, as well as the famous Portuguese custard tarts. These tarts were so addictive and delicious that I had more than a few each time. There was also a variety of high-quality tea available, as well as freshly prepared coffee.
Dinner time featured a sumptuous spread of tapas style dishes. There were always 4 hot and 4 cold tapas dishes, ranging from poached salmon to grilled beef to a variety of salad and vegetables. At the back of the counter, there was also the alcohol selection, which had a variety of Portuguese wines, Portuguese port, and various hard liquor options. There was also always a bottle of champagne on ice, Cattier in this case when I was there. Underneath the counter, there was also a selection of Portuguese and non-Portuguese beer, as well as other non-alcoholic beverages such as soft drinks and sparkling water.
After having some of the tapas, I also took advantage of their good spread of desserts. There were fresh fruits, chocolates, cakes, and a creme brulee in all the days that I was there. I remember that all the desserts were very delicious, and went well with a glass of Portuguese port wine
All the meals that I had in the club lounge were of very high quality. They were prepared very well, and the flavours were complex and delicious. The club lounge was generally not crowded, and there was a good sense of calm and tranquillity. The attendants in the lounge were also top notch! I was always greeted by name and was promptly served each time.
I have nothing but praises for the Club InterContinental at the InterContinental Lisbon. I highly recommend visiting the club lounge when staying at this hotel!
