In general, the brand Small Luxury Hotels offers a level of security and peace of mind, that the experience you will receive at these hotels will indeed be luxury. Unlike brands like Park Hyatt and Four Seasons, Small Luxury Hotels can, however, be a bit hit and miss, as they are often privately owned and each hotel is very individual. Some SLH hotels offer an exceptional level of luxury, others can be slightly tired and tatty.
One thing that is pretty consistent across these hotels is the quality of the food, which is usually excellent, and the service from the staff, which again tends to be very good. Whether your room is up-to-the-minute luxury or whether it is in need of a refurbishment, really depends on the hotel you choose. I advise that you do some research before you make your booking, just to be sure that you get what you expect.
That said, most SLH hotels are really great. I particularly love the Greenway in the Cotswolds and the Chateau Eza on The French Riviera is simply magical. I recommend these wholeheartedly. You can find particularly good deals at these hotels in SLH flash sales or in the lower season.

Review: Chateau Eza On The French Riviera
Eze is a medieval village perched at the top of a mountain and looking down upon the deep blue waters of the Cote D’Azur in France. At around 30 minutes from Nice airport by taxi, and sitting just west of Cap Ferrat, Eze is easy to get to but feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of the Cote D'Azur. Your taxi will drop you at the reception, which sits at the entrance of this enchanting village. This is where you leave your bags.

The Cotswold's Greenway Hotel and Spa
If I was quizzed about England's Cotswolds and what all the fuss was about, I'd point the inquisitive towards The Greenway Hotel and Spa, a member of the Eden Hotel Collection and Small Luxury Hotels. Turn off a busy road, travel up the hotel's long driveway, and you are instantly transported into the heart of the English countryside. There are picturesque villages like Stowe On The Wold nearby, but dear reader, should I have felt bad in having no real desire to leave the Greenway?
Review: Langshott Manor Hotel
When I was a little girl, I used to love David Winter Country Cottages. These miniature examples of perfect olde world cottages showcased the very best of English village life. I am fairly sure one of David Winter's cottages was a copy of the luxury hotel, Langshott Manor, which simply couldn't be a more perfectly formed 16th-century Manor house. Langshott Manor is located near the town of Horley in England. As you drive towards the hotel, there is no need to panic when you are moments away in the middle of suburbia.
Review: Keemala Phuket
Keemala is nestled amidst lush flora on the rainforest-encrusted hills of Phuket. Review: The Scarlet Hotel In Singapore
In early February, I took a break from my usual chain hotels to stay at a special boutique hotel in Singapore, I reviewed The Scarlet Singapore. The hotel is one of the 2 hotels in Singapore which are part of the elite Small Luxury Hotels, a select group of boutique luxury hotels. The Scarlet Singapore occupies a row of 13 quaint heritage shophouses from the 1860s and a corner 4-storey 1924 Art Deco building. There is an eclectic mix of shops occupying the ground floor of the shophouses ranging from a bespoke tailor to a high-end pet accessories store.
Review: Nira Caledonia Hotel, Luxury In Edinburgh
The Nira Caledonia is a small luxury boutique hotel set in 3 adjoining Georgian townhouses in the heart of Edinburgh's New Town. On a quiet residential street, it is unobtrusive and understated. There are only 19 rooms and a further 9 suites, but they have been tastefully designed to ensure a range of accommodation options to suit anyone's needs. I arrived after battling through the crowded streets of the city center and was warmly greeted by George on the front desk.
