The popular Red Sea Riviera in Egypt is known for its excellent dive sites and stunning expansive deserts. One of the most exquisite and exclusive resorts there is the stunning Kempinski Hotel Soma Bay in Safaga, Egypt.
Location
The hotel is located in Soma Bay, a charming, natural preserved peninsula on the eastern shores of Egypt. You are nestled between the shimmering Red Sea and the majestic desert mountains, both of which you can enjoy to the fullest on your holiday. Watersports are understandably king in this area but you can also take a sunset boat trip, a desert safari or play golf! The Kempinski Hotel Soma Bay lies 45km south of Hurghada International Airport with the ancient sites of Luxor: “The World’s Open-Air Museum”, and the Nile Valley being a super convenient two hour drive away. The hotel is 40 minutes from Hurgada International Airport and private transfers can be arranged.
Style & Character
The Kempinski Hotel Soma Bay is housed in a converted Moorish fortress. The Arabian desert-style architecture is the perfect companion for the gorgeous tropical gardens and beachfront views. There are several swimming pools and a lazy river set within lagoons and scattered through the grounds and gardens.
Service & Facilities
Day to day life here revolves around the 400m stretch of private, pristine sandy beach. Whether for you that means relaxing on the sands, swimming, snorkelling, windsurfing, kitesurfing or scuba diving (there’s an epic kilometre-long stretch of reef just offshore)! There’s also a Fitness Centre with a gym so you can keep fit, or if the outdoors and dry land calls; there’s tennis, squash and golf just minutes away too. Relax after all this in the sauna, outdoor pool and steam room and better still book a treatment at the gorgeous Cascades Spa & Thalasso which extends over more than 7,500 m² of heavenly spa space! The spa is just down the road and there’s a free shuttle bus to whisk you off to your relaxation.
The hotel aims to combine luxurious European service with Egyptian hospitality and indeed the staff are wonderful; professional, very well trained and always smiling!
Rooms
When choosing from the 325 luxuriously designed rooms and suites you have the huge problem of whether to go for a Sea View or a Lagoon View! You really can’t go wrong of course. Most of the rooms include a terrace or balcony and many have separate sitting areas too. It’s definitely worth upgrading to a Laguna Club Room to gain access to the Lounge where you can enjoy culinary delights and beverages throughout the day. There are an array of 34 Suites too if you fancy another upgrade; the Junior Suites have an oriental twist and the Deluxe Suites have panoramic views. Though if it’s a view you are after, then those from the resort’s two Presidential Suites are beyond compare, the Suites themselves are simply divine too, just perfect for the VIP in you.
Food & Drink
The main restaurant occupies a fabulous spot overlooking the lagoons and lazy river; there are four live cooking stations and a vast terrace. You can also dine at the grill restaurant, a Pan Asian restaurant or a Mediterranean restaurant and by day, the Beachcomber Bar keeps you hydrated and refreshed with delicious snacks and light bites. As the evening draws in, head to the terrace at the Sultan Lobby Lounge to watch the sun set over the Red Sea with a cocktail in hand; blissful!
