I love a destination on the up and that is certainly the case with beautiful town of Ashland, tucked in prime wine country in Southern Oregon, USA. For a relaxing resort whose beauty aligns nicely with its surroundings, check into the charming Lithia Springs Resort, a hot mineral springs destination.
Location
The Lithia Springs Resort lies just 3 miles from downtown Ashland in Rogue Valley. Ashland is a must-visit location at the moment and has been featured in Vogue and the New York Times to name just a couple. It’s simply beautiful, is exceptional for outdoor adventures (boasting the deepest lake in the US: Crater Lake National Park which is home to many of them) and plays host to the very popular Oregon Shakespeare Festival over an eight month season beginning in mid February. Ashland is found just past the California border between San Francisco and Portland, Medford is the closest airport which is just 30-minutes away.
Style & Character
The resort is serene, beautiful and inherently relaxing. Think lush and rambling English gardens, ponds teaming with Koi and spa-themed accommodation. Your room becomes your private sanctuary. The guest rooms are gorgeous spaces; very tactile with natural wood, glass, and metal, with natural colours accentuated by little pops of brighter shades.
Service & Facilities
There are curative mineral waters deep beneath the resort and both the resort and Waterstone Spa make the very best use of these waters. The water is rich in sulfur and other minerals to help the body heal, relieve stress, and rejuvenate. Almost all the rooms feature large soaking tubs where you can enjoy the restorative benefits of these healing mineral waters or you can take a mineral shower or better still enjoy a spa treatment or two. Waterstone Spa is located downtown next door to the historic Ashland Springs Hotel which is a sister hotel to the resort. To continue your wellness experience back at the resort, head to the intimate Fitness Cottage, the ideal spot for yoga, mediation and to use the gym equipment there.
Time at the resort will be spent lazing in and around the gorgeous outdoor saline swimming pool and Jacuzzi. Or sitting by the koi pond in contemplative silence. On cooler days you can relax in the Tea Room, the Library or just by one of the fireplaces and let the time drift by taking your cares with it.
The staff are very hospitable and seem rightly very proud of their little oasis, they are friendly, efficient and keep the place spotless.
Rooms
Stay in one of 38 Studios, Bungalows, Rooms and Suites. The studios and rooms are slightly cosier though still beautiful spaces, but the Bungalows and Suites are both perfect for luxury travellers. Your only problem is choosing between them! The Bungalows offer a separate living room but the Suites are perhaps the more romantic option. The adorable Water Tower Suite is like a hideaway with an open rafter-style ceiling, a balcony which overlooks the pool and the two-person soaking tub is heart shaped! My personal favourite though is probably the Water Lily Suite which features stunning Chinese Taoist décor, a modern four-poster plush pillow-top King bed and outside is a beautiful pergola where you can relax in the shade with your loved ones.
Food & Drink
Start your day with a divine, complimentary, made from scratch hot breakfast buffet and just when you’re starting to fade in that mid-afternoon lull, tuck into a delicious afternoon tea packed with baked treats and fresh fruit. Top of your list for dining options has to be the stunning Larks Restaurant (www.LarksAshland.com) which is located just 3 miles down the road in downtown Ashland at sister hotel Ashland Springs Hotel. The restaurant serves cuisine to celebrate the very essence of Oregon; its farms, orchards, creameries and wineries are bought to your table; fresh, delicious and beautifully presented – very much like Ashland itself really.
