Sorry to disappoint but I have more bad news from my favorite airline. British Airways. In fact they have so many great ideas, but they tend to abandon them partway through planning and it’s has happened again.

This time there were impressive plans for British Airways to replace their food suppliers at Heathrow, Gate Gourmet and DHL. Apparently, DO& CO had been chosen for the replacement supplier. DO&CO are one of the best airline caterers in the sky. They are responsible for catering on Austrian Airlines which offers some of the best long-haul airline food in the sky. That said, our reporters recently flew a flight in First Class on Singapore Airlines in a suite and found the food to be even better than Austrian!

I digress though. Last week Business Traveller confirmed that British Airways is no longer planning to offer a trolley service for serving food in Club World, just a short while after it was introduced.

DO&CO food is also only being employed for the New York JFK to London flights along with a couple of other destinations. All other routes will be serving the old and unimpressive old Gate Gourmet food.

As for the afternoon tea pictured above which is offered on British Airways European Business Class flights, there are still rumors about the return of the British Airways scones and cream and although they are far from gourmet, I quite like sandwiches that go with the scones pictured above. I will report back on the scone situation at the end of the month when I fly out to Nice.

I still book onto British Airways, partly because of the British Airways airport lounges which you can use when you fly in Club Europe (which I fly regularly), partially because I vastly prefer British Airways Economy to Easyjet which I have also reviewed and partially because I collect Avios with my credit cards which means that I get to fly for free.
