I love a British Airways afternoon tea. Even when it’s not the greatest in flavor, it fills my stomach and passes the time on the flight. Well, my dear traveler, British Airways scones are officially back!
On my last flight over to Nice on the 25th of October, I experienced the new and improved afternoon tea.
After my hot towel and drinks, I chose diet coke and a sparkling water, which came with a small packet of almonds (a first on such a short-haul bA flight), the trolley arrived with my afternoon tea.
My choice was between a Ploughman’s with a range of cheeses and meats or an afternoon tea platter with sandwiches.
I opted for the sandwiches, which were presented quite beautifully (see picture above). There was a truly delicious prawn roll, cheese on a Ryvita style bread with fig segment on the top, which wasn’t to my taste as I wouldn’t say I like Ryvita style bread and ham or beef (I wasn’t sure which) sandwich on black bread with red cabbage filling.
Alongside was a piece of cake, and you could pick a scone or a roll, or both, from a warmed breadbasket. There was Rodda’s clotted cream and Wilkin & Sons jam to go on the scone, and it was delicious.
While this is not groundbreaking news, for those of us who regularly travel in Club Europe, it is a joy to see British Airways improving its offering instead of cutting back.
As for the flight, it was delightful, short, and smooth and the airline staff were all lovely. I doubt there is a better way to fly around Europe.
Have a read of my other experiences of British Airways in Club Europe to see why it is worth splurging your Avios on your next European flight.
