Must-visit Yangshuo, a county and resort town in southern China’s Guangxi region, is famous for its dramatic mountain ranges. Stay in accommodation equally as dramatic with a room at the stunning Banyan Tree Yangshuo.

Why We Love This Hotel

The Banyan Tree Yangshuo is a tranquil paradise, although near the action, it offers the best of both worlds with the natural wonder of the limestone mountains seemingly within touching distance.

Location

The hotel is located about 15 minutes from the city of Yangshuo (there are free shuttle buses to take you there) in the Guangxi region of Southern China. The city itself is a bustling, thriving, and exciting place; great to visit but staying outside of it is definitely advisable! There is much of the landscape to explore, too, not just the breathtaking Karst mountains which loom in the vicinity, but the Li river, the caves, and the rice fields. You can hike, rock climb, or take a tour. The hotel does everything to help you explore the local area, from letting you borrow bikes for free to giving a complimentary one-hour river trip on their bamboo boat, which departs from the private pier. Don’t miss the charming old Town of Fuli with its authentic, narrow streets and ancient houses.

Best Time To Visit

Rain falls here predominately in early summer, and January is the coldest month. The best times to visit are either April and May or October and November for mild weather with pleasant temperatures.

How To Get There

The hotel is located 90 minutes from Guilin Liangjiang Airport. From the UK you can connect in Hong Kong or Shanghai, and several airlines fly the route.

Style & Character

The Banyan Tree Yangshuo is designed as a picturesque mountain village resort. Traditional China heavily influences both the architecture and interior design, even the pond boasts a beautiful Pagola, and yet all the contemporary comforts are present too. The design has been beautifully and thoughtfully carried out, and the sense of luxury will impress even the most discerning of travelers.

Service & Facilities

The excellent resort facilities include the most well-placed swimming pool I can think of, right alongside the Li River, a sense of serenity envelops upon sight. And if you need further encouragement to relax, then the notable Banyan Tree Spa will achieve that with ease, and there can be few better panoramas to enjoy during a spa treatment. There’s also a 24-hour Fitness Centre, a fully equipped Yoga Studio, and the Banyan Tree Gallery, where you can purchase locally made keepsakes.

The caring and attentive staff do everything they can to make sure your stay is a special one. They are particularly good at the little extra touches, which are lovely, and you leave feeling pampered.

Rooms

The 142 oriental-style suites and villa are spread carefully throughout the expansive landscaped gardens. The views are of the river, the resort’s lake, and, of course, those epic mountains. Both mountain and river Suites are leaving you with the challenging task of choosing between them or opt for a one or two-bedroom villa. The suites have stunning balconies that make the most of the views, and the villas have spacious terraces from which you can gaze out at the Li River or a private garden.

Best Rooms

You really can’t go wrong here; all the suites and villas are divine, but the Li River Impression 1 bedroom Villas are utterly romantic, huge, so there’s lots of room to make it your own and have the most amazing eagle’s view of the river; unforgettable.

Food & Drink

You are truly spoilt for choice in terms of dining. The Baiyun serves delectable Cantonese cuisine so you can sample the flavors of the region, sit in the exquisite main dining room, or one of six private dining suites for a more intimate experience. For more international cuisine, head to The Ming Yue restaurant, which combines delicious Western fare with a refined Asian setting. When you’re poolside, the Pool Bar is fabulous for a light bite and a fantastic BBQ feast as well as a choice of refreshing beverages. There’s also the Lobby Lounge (Qing Feng), which is the ideal spot to relax with a chilled drink in hand. The classic Banyan Tree destination dining is rather incredible here; dine perched on a cliff or onboard the resort’s bamboo raft set on the Li River, a magical experience just like the hotel itself.
