Situated at the foot of the Sierra Cabrera near the idyllic coastal town of Mojácar in Andalusia, Cortijo El Sarmiento is ideal for those who want a break with an element of discovery, as there’s plenty to see and do in the area. Very close to this luxury B&B is the world-famous nature reserve of Cabo de Gata. A few minutes drive away, you will find miles of stunning beaches, and no doubt will stumble upon the delicious wineries close to Rio de Andarax and Rio de Alamazora.
Best Time To Visit
Mojacar enjoys a Mediterranean climate all year round, which means you can look forward to nothing but sunshine and warmth during your holiday.
The average temperature in the summer ranges from 26°C to 32°C, but the warmest month is August, with highs reaching up to 40°C.
For cooler weather, the best time to visit Mojacar is in winter, from October to December, when the average daily temperature is around 18°C with lows of 10°C.
If you love to catch the rays, the best time to go is late autumn and during the summer. You’ll get to enjoy up to 13 hours of sunshine per day, so make sure to wear sun cream and keep your skin protected from strong UV rays.
How To Get There
The closest airport is Almeria Airport, 50 minutes away from the retreat. Other nearby airports are Murcia (135km) and Alicante (200km), the latter having the highest number of international flights. Due to the country retreat location, it would be advisable to hire a car.

This charming country hotel features a large, heated pool (open all year round) with a sun terrace, a patio surrounded by olive trees and geraniums; a gourmet kitchen and (well stocked!) wine fridge, bijou SPA with Sauna, and if you need a little more pampering, you can always book a massage, facial or body treatment.
Rooms
This hotel features seven individually furnished double rooms, each with a huge shower, a comfortable king-size bed (180 x 200cm), and a safe. Every guest room has air conditioning and central heating, as well as a separate sitting area on the patio. Hairdryers and bath towels for the pool or beach are provided. Wi-Fi is available throughout. There are three grades of rooms to choose from, classic, superior, and garden. All the rooms are spotlessly clean and spacious, with adjoining en-suite bathrooms.
Best Rooms
Personally, I prefer the Garden Room because these bedrooms lead out towards the sun terrace and pool.
Food & Drink
In terms of dining, there is a gourmet kitchen and cozy eating area with a lounge and ‘Honesty bar’, as well as a comfortable patio with views of the Sierra Cabrera. The breakfasts here are incredible (look out for their homemade jams!) and a joy to look forward to every morning! They prepare three evening meals per week, which are freshly prepared and locally sourced, and their Spanish dishes are cleverly matched to local Andalusian wines. If you want to go further afield, there are lots of nearby restaurants to choose from serving delicious tapas and fresh seafood.
