Phuket International Airport is the second busiest airport in Thailand. Millions of passengers each year visit Phuket’s wonderful hotels and world-famous Phuket beaches. We have reviewed the best hotel club lounges in Phuket, and now we review the best lounges Phuket airport HKT.
More than 16 million passengers per year fly via Phuket airport. The lounge you will have access to will depend on the airline that you are flying on. Phuket International Airport looks out to the beautiful Andaman Sea and has lovely sunset views making it a nice airport to spend time in.
If you are an Economy class traveler at Phuket Airport, you can access the Coral airport lounges if you purchase a day pass online or at the entrance or if you have an annual membership to a lounge pass like Priority Pass or pay at the door.
There are two airport lounges that are operated by The Coral Executive Lounge company in Phuket International Airport’s new terminal building, The Coral Executive Lounge, as well as The Coral First Class Lounge.
If you hold a valid Priority Pass card, you will have access to The Coral Executive Lounge, but you have to pay if you want to access the First lounge. Emirates Business and First class passengers are given access to the Coral Executive Lounge.
Wherever you fly to, use our secret to booking luxury hotels to get a better deal.
1. Royal Orchid Lounges
Thai Airways operates two small Royal Orchid Lounges at Phuket International Airport for its Business and First class passengers and other eligible guests who can access this lounge, including high level elite frequent flyers of Star Alliance carriers (Business and First Class passengers and status holders). Star Alliance includes Adria Airways, Aegean Airlines, Air Canada, Air China, Air India, Air New Zealand, ANA, Asiana Airlines, Austrian, Avianca, Avianca Brasil, Brussels Airlines, Copa Airlines, Cathay Pacific, EGYPTAIR, Ethiopian Airlines, EVA Air, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Aeroflot and China Eastern etc. You cannot access the Royal Orchid airport lounges unless you are flying in Business Class on a relevant airline, and you cannot buy your way into this lounge.
The Royal Orchid Lounge “North” at Phuket airport can be found one floor above the main departures level. It can be accessed using an escalator located near gate 11 and is one large room with a buffet area at the back with good food and drink. Seating is benches, counter-height seats, and sofas.
The food and drinks selection is excellent and includes cold soft drinks and beer, bottled water, juice boxes, and a tank with orange juice, hot tea, made-to-order coffee, and cappuccinos. There is an a la carte Menu, a salad bar, sandwiches (chicken, ham and cheese, and tuna sandwiches), nuts, cookies, cupcakes, desserts, pastries, veggies and fruit, bread, chicken porridge, chicken and tofu soup, etc. More enough food to fill one up before any flight.
2. Coral First Departure Lounge: International
Located in the International Terminal, Airside is a decent lounge on the upper level, this lounge has panoramic views of Mai Khao Beach and complimentary 15-minute massages.
The Coral First Class Lounge does not participate in the Priority Pass program and can only be accessed by invitation (e.g., flying on Business Class with certain airlines) or by payment. I tried it out before a SilkAir flight.
The Coral First Class Lounge has a variety of seating arrangements, and there are plenty of complimentary drinks in the fridge, coffee, tea, and alcoholic drinks, including cans of beer. There is also a salad counter as well as snacks, hot food, and canapés. Things like green curry smoked salmon and shrimp cocktails, plus desserts.
3. Coral Executive Lounge: International
The Coral Executive Lounge is located in the International Departure Hall after immigration and next to gate no.7.
This lounge seats 60, and you can freshen up and catch up on work while awaiting the flight while relaxing with a 180-degree panoramic view of Mai-Khao Beach during the day and the beautiful sunset in the evening. There are comfy sofas, and the decoration on the walls is with Pearl and Shell to create The Coral Style and atmosphere.
If you are flying in Business Class or a frequent flyer with Qatar or Emirates, this will be your lounge, and you will be picked up at the check-in desk and get fast-tracked to the lounge. Highlights are the 15 min shoulder massage.
4. Coral Beach Lounge
Located in terminal 1, airside in Domestic Departures next to Gate 6, this is the lounge you will get access to if you are flying from the Domestic Terminal. It offers complimentary alcohol (beer only, Singha, Chang, and Tiger) but no wine and good food plus, it has nice views and a smart interior with wooden flooring.
5. Coral Executive Lounge
Located in the Domestic terminal, airside in Domestic Departures 3rd floor next to Gate 8, this is the lounge you will get access to if you are flying within Thailand to somewhere like Bangkok. This is not a great lounge, it is small with bad food.
