We review the best executive club lounges at hotels in Denver, the airport DEN, and the rest of Colorado, including the ski resorts of Aspen, Snowmass, Vail Valley, Steamboat Springs, and more.
If you want to stay in luxury in Denver, if your budget allows, you should consider staying at one of the best luxury hotels in the city and across the mountains. These include The Ritz-Carlton Denver, The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch, Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort, and The Sebastian-Vail – A Timbers Resort and the Nines.
In our opinion, the Four Seasons is one of the best hotels in Denver City and is joint top with the Ritz-Carlton Denver. The Ritz-Carlton has a club lounge, so it wins on this score, but the Four Seasons remains an excellent choice in every other way, and it’s hard to choose between these two hotel options.
For a more reasonable luxury hotel option that is part of the ihg brand, you could try the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Denver, which offers a boutique style of luxury in the city.
I have compiled a list below containing the club lounges available across luxury hotels in Denver. I list the lounges that I consider to be the best of the best. I will be reviewing each of these hotel club lounges in detail so that you know what you’ll get if you book a room with club lounge access or get upgraded to a club lounge for free because of your loyalty status.
1. The Ritz-Carlton Denver
The Ritz-Carlton Denver is a luxurious base from which to experience the city’s numerous attractions and the best in innovative food and beverages, year-round sporting events, unforgettable arts, and world-class shopping.
The Ritz-Carlton, Denver, is nestled in the bustling lower downtown neighborhood. The hotel is the city’s longest-running AAA Five Diamond property, boasting luxuriously enhanced guest rooms, suites, meeting space, lobby, and spa oasis.
The hotel offers the city’s largest guestrooms, an unparalleled and exclusive Club Level, and ELWAY’S Downtown, an elevated dining experience.
Book a Club Room, which features free access to the club lounge, which is the best club lounge in Denver, for up to 2 guests. This club lounge features continuous culinary presentations throughout the day (breakfast, light snacks, hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and sweets), all in a comfortable lounge setting with distinctive Denver views and personalized service.
Accommodations on the Club Level also include complimentary high-speed Internet access, pressing, convenient boarding pass printing, and snacks and treats to-go. The Club Lounge is open daily from 7:00 am – 10:00 pm.
This Ritz-Carlton is a category 6 Marriott, costing on average 50,000 Marriott Bonvoy per night if you book your stay by redeeming points.
2. Grand Hyatt Denver
Grand Hyatt Denver is located in the heart of downtown Denver’s entertainment, business, and theatre districts, one block from the 16th Street Mall and minutes to Coors Field and Broncos Stadium at Mile High Stadium.
On the roof of the hotel, you will find a rooftop open-air tennis court and running track. Really unusual and great if you like your sports. There is also an indoor pool.
Reviews suggest that Globalists often get upgraded to a Parlor suite, which is huge and luxurious.
The club lounge here is on the 26th floor with wooden floors, a grand dining table in the center, and comfy, stylish sofa seats to the side. It offers fantastic views of downtown and the mountains in the distance.
Breakfast, which is free in the club lounge, is generous here. Although there are limited hot options and no hot eggs or bacon, you can enjoy hot oatmeal with sauces. You have your usual juices, bread, coffee, tea, and other breakfast items, including pastries, muffins, cereals, danishes, and cold cuts.
In the evenings, the club lounge offers food, cold cuts, smoked salmon and light bites, and discounted self-serve drinks, which cost around $3 USD for a glass of wine and $5 USD for a cocktail.
Other Hyatts in Colorado include the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort and Spa, which does not have a club lounge, the Grand Hyatt Vail for skiing near Gore Creek in Lionshead Village, Hyatt Regency Aurora-Denver Conference Center, which has an outdoor pool, Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center, 13 miles south of Denver; near Belleview Light Rail station, Hyatt Place Denver/ Westminster (no club lounge) perfectly placed between Boulder and Denver, Hyatt Place Denver/Cherry Creek (no club lounge), Hyatt Place Colorado Springs, Garden of the Gods (no club lounge) and Hyatt Place Denver Downtown (no club lounge).
3. Hyatt Regency Denver At Colorado Convention Center
Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center is located one block from the 16th Street Mall and within walking distance from the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and conferences. It is very close to the Westin and the Sheraton Denver Downtown, which we have reviewed below, but we think that this is the best chain hotel option in this conference area of downtown Denver when comparing the Sheraton Vs. the Westin Vs. this Hyatt.
The 27th-floor Peaks Lounge is the highest-rising lounge in the city with spectacular Rocky Mountain views and is worth stopping by whether you stay there or not.
This is a big hotel with 1,100 contemporary hotel rooms, including 59 suites, and all offer impressive views of downtown Denver, the State Capitol, or the Rocky Mountains. More importantly, you are directly adjacent to the Colorado Convention Center.
Choose a suite for spacious living areas or book a room with access to the Regency Club, which includes daily breakfast and evening hors d’oeuvres. Globalist World of Hyatt members get free access to the Regency Club lounge here and tend to get decent upgrades at this hotel, too. Reports suggest free upgrades to executive suites for World of Hyatt Globalist members.
The Regency Club breakfast is very good here, and the evening offering at happy hour includes cold cuts, veggies, bread, smoked salmon, cheeses, and a hot dish like Mexican-styled meat. The staff in this Regency Club lounge are also exceptionally good. Alcoholic drinks can be purchased for a small fee.
When comparing this Hyatt Regency to others around the world, it is not as good as the Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing Grand Hyatts, the Maui and Waikiki Hyatt Regency hotels, or the London Churchill, but it remains an excellent choice.
4. JW Marriott at Cherry Creek
Voted by US News & World Report as one of the “Best Hotels in Denver 2019”, the newly redesigned JW Marriott Denver Cherry Creek is definitely one of the best Marriott hotels in Denver. It’s in a great location, right next to Cherry Creek Mall (very upscale… Nordstroms, Nieman Marcus, Apple, Elway’s, etc.). This gives you loads of options for dinner, lunch, and breakfast should you wish to eat out. If you eat in the hotel, the restaurant and bar are vibrant places to hang out.
A highlight of this hotel is the Concierge Club Lounge, which is open 7 days a week and the lounge has hot and cold food, free drinks, and plenty of staff checking on everyone.
Breakfast is a treat with pastries, bread, eggs, 2 cold meat options, juices, bagels, tea, etc. After breakfast, there are free drinks and snacks throughout the day, and in the evening, happy hour is served.
The evening service is also great, with fresh cheese, smoked salmon, cold cuts, and a hot item. Unusually for an American executive club lounge, the alcohol is free, with spirits, beer, and wine. Following on from the savory main dishes is an appealing selection of desserts, with chocolate mousses and cheesecakes.
If the cost of this Marriott is too high for your budget, the Renaissance (near the old airport) is cheaper and a decent hotel with a nice concierge lounge. It’s certainly not up to the JW Marriott Cherry Creek standard, but it’s cheaper.
Other good Marriott hotels in Denver include the Marriott Bonvoy hotel, The Brown Palace, and Autograph Collection, but this does not have a club lounge.
If you want a Marriott Bonvoy hotel with a club lounge in Colorado, there are also club lounges at the Denver Renaissance (which is closed on weekends), at Denver Marriott Tech Center, at Denver Marriott City Center, Ft. Collins Marriott, Denver Marriott West and Marriott Denver South at Park Meadows, as well as those outlined below. All these lounges are closed on weekends, where you get some kind of breakfast alternative in the main restaurant.
Boulder Marriott’s M Lounge is open for breakfast daily, but evening light bites are only available Sunday to Thursday nights. The Colorado Springs Marriott has an executive club lounge, which is only open at weekends in the summer and is closed for the rest of the year on weekends when you get a full buffet breakfast in the restaurant as an alternative.
The Denver Renaissance Downtown City Center is one of the few Marriott hotels with an M Lounge, which is open 24/7 with breakfast only on weekends. However, it does not serve evening snacks on Friday and Saturday nights (you get evening snacks for the rest of the week). It is also worth noting that within Vail, the Marriott Mountain Resort does not have a club lounge.
5. Hilton Denver City Center
After a multi-million dollar renovation was completed at the end of 2017, this 613-room hotel became the Hilton Denver City Center. It sits on the lower 20 floors of a 43-story building. The lobby is stylish, with floor-to-ceiling windows and trendy cream and brown furnishings with fireplaces and a welcoming feel. There is also a Starbucks in the lobby, which is open during the week from 5:30 am – 6:00 pm.
The location of this Hilton is in the financial district, but there is an indoor pool with windows looking into the gym and fitness center next door, which will keep leisure travelers amused. The hotel’s restaurant and bar, Prospect’s Urban Kitchen & Bar, is also a stylish and comfortable place to eat and drink, making this hotel one of the better choices in Denver’s Financial District.
Room decor is natural and earthy, and rooms include a mini-fridge, workstations, safes, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Junior suites include kitchenettes, and the Presidential suite has a wet bar and a fireplace. Bathrooms are bright with trendy tile walls mixed with softwood elements, a back-lit mirror, and quartz countertops. All have a walk-in shower and Peter Thomas Roth bath products.
Book an Executive room at Hilton Denver City Center and you also get cozy bathrobes, complimentary bottled water, and staggering (MUCH better) views of downtown and the Rockies. You will also have access to the Executive Lounge for complimentary breakfast, daytime snacks, and business center services (this lounge is closed on Friday and Saturday evenings.)
6. Sheraton Denver Downtown
This convention hotel comprises two towers that are literally on two different blocks, connected by either a skywalk or the conference center in the basement. The club lounge is at the top of the “Tower” block. If you book a club room or are an elite member who gets free lounge access, you will probably be assigned to the Tower building with the lounge because it’s an annoying distance between the two buildings if you have to change blocks to get to the club lounge. Other guests may be assigned to the Plaza block.
The gym here is great, with plenty of equipment and machines and free weights. Platinum recognition is very good at this hotel. Platinum Bonvoy members usually get upgraded to suites at the top of the Tower building and get welcome plates with fancy snacks.
If you are there for leisure or the club lounge, the Tower building is also better as it hosts the pool, gym, and lounge. If you’re there for a conference, the Plaza building is more convenient. If you want an alternative to this hotel, the Westin on the other end of the 16th Street mall is your other choice, but it doesn’t have a club lounge, or pick the Hyatt Regency Denver At Colorado Convention Center, which we prefer.
7. Sheraton Denver Tech Center Hotel
The Sheraton Denver Tech Center Hotel has access to the light rail system that can take you downtown so that you avoid traffic and parking in the city. It is quite far out of town but is in good shape. It has particularly nice Skyview rooms with a wall of windows that arch over to give you a view of the sky.
This hotel has a nice, if fairly standard, club lounge with breakfast and evening food. In the evening, you can choose from a selection of cheese, cold cuts, veggies, and fruit with a hot option like egg rolls. Wine and beers are available for purchase within the lounge.
There are other members of the Sheraton side of the Marriott Bonvoy hotel brand in Denver and throughout Colorado, but most don’t have club lounges. There is a St Regis in Aspen without a club lounge, as well as a Westin in Aspen, again with no club lounge. The Westin in Westminster doesn’t have a club lounge either.
The Sheraton Mountain Vista Villas in Avon, Vail, is also missing a club lounge, as is the Sheraton Steamboat Resort in Steamboat Springs.
8. Sheraton Denver West Hotel
The Sheraton Denver West Hotel is situated in Lakewood, and reports suggest that the hotel is average, but the club lounge is good, with complimentary wine in the evening. The rooms are pleasant, but the bathrooms are very small.
When choosing between the Sheraton Denver Tech Center Hotel Vs. Sheraton Denver West Hotel, the location should be the decision-maker. These hotels are around 25 miles apart. The Sheraton Denver Tech Center Hotel is more convenient to get into the city center, while West is closer to skiing and some conference facilities.
9. Denver Marriott Westminster
The Denver Marriott Westminster is a well-decorated hotel located in Westminster, Colorado, just 15 minutes north of Denver and a 10-minute drive south of Boulder. The surrounding area is urban, with loads of office buildings and hotels.
This hotel has an M Club executive lounge, which has plenty of snacks and breakfast. At weekends and holidays, rooms with club lounge access get a coupon for a full buffet breakfast for two in the restaurant. The club lounge breakfast is more than adequate with whole fruit, cut melon, some processed sealed biscuits and bars, muffins, pastries, fried potatoes, sausages, and a made-to-order egg station offering omelets.
While not an overly exciting Marriott, the lounge is good and nicely decorated, and the fact that you have an omelet station, as well as hot options at breakfast, makes this one of the best lounges in and around Denver.
10. Denver Airport Marriott at Gateway Park
Denver Airport Marriott at Gateway Park is a moderate Marriott with a pleasant club lounge and a good breakfast buffet. It is a nice hotel for being near the airport. At weekends and holidays, rooms with club lounge access get a coupon for a full buffet breakfast for two in the restaurant.
11. The Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch
The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch is not in Denver but is very much in Colorado and is definitely one of the best hotel club lounges in Colorado.
The Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch is located in Beaver Creek, a mountainside destination in Avon, Colorado. It is just a few minutes from Vail and is part of a gated community. This year-round Five-star accommodation features a luxurious spa and ski-in/ski-out access.
Guests with club lounge access enjoy exclusive amenities. Some room types include private balconies with Colorado Mountain or Vail Valley views and in-room fireplaces (you should request one of these where possible), all of which embrace Rocky Mountain luxury and the adventurous, pioneering spirit of the American West. It is the perfect resort to enjoy being outside in the mountain air with campfires.
There is a delightful pool that is heated throughout the year and plenty of hot tubs to relax in. There is also an expensive resort fee at this resort, but it is currently completely waived for Globalists.
The Ritz-Carlton club level lounge at this Bachelor Gulch hotel features an almost endless array of beverage and culinary offerings throughout the day.
Specialists from The Ritz-Carlton Spa also host weekly one-hour chair massage sessions exclusively for guests of Club Level.
