Which is the best Hyatt hotel in San Francisco and at the airport (SFO) for cash or earning and spending your World Of Hyatt points? Andaz Vs. Grand Vs. Regency Vs. Centric? We have already investigated the best hotel club lounges in San Francisco, now we specifically choose the best Hyatt, Grand Vs. Andaz, Regency Vs. Centric.
1. Hyatt Regency San Francisco
The Hyatt Regency is your top Hyatt hotel choice in San Francisco. It can be a little more expensive than the Grand Hyatt, but it is worth paying the extra for.
For a start, both hotels are great, but the Hyatt Regency San Francisco is located right on the waterfront with the California cable line in front. This means that the views are fabulous from this waterfront Hyatt Regency.
The Hyatt Regency San Francisco is also located in the Financial District by the Embarcadero BART station on Market and Drumm St. It is right across from the ferry terminal and is super accessible for public transport links. The hotel also has good dining options and a 24-hour fitness center.
Beyond the expansive Bay views and renowned world’s largest hotel lobby, you are brilliantly located in the city’s most celebrated hot spots and steps away from the iconic Embarcadero and Union Square.
Rooms are bright with floor-to-ceiling windows, many with an angle view of the bay and looking straight out at other buildings. There are, in fact, 804 guest rooms in the hotel, all of which feature flat-screen TVs, iHome stereo systems, and coffee makers.
The Regency Club lounge is an absolute highlight of this hotel and is located in the former revolving restaurant, which is now stationary. It has recently been refurbished and is pretty stunning. It has muted lighting in the entranceway, the decor is oatmeals and browns, and the views… WOW. They look straight out across the bay from all sides.
Breakfast is good, but it ends quite early at 9:00 am on weekdays and 10:00 am on weekends and can be busy with bread, cereal, hard-boiled eggs, cheap cold cuts & salami, cheese, fruit, and oatmeal.
The buffet area has coffee, juices, and soda during the day and an honor bar at night which is very cheap at around $2 USD for a beer and $3 USD for a glass of wine. During the evening happy hour, there is a decent amount of food, enough for a full dinner, with salads and warm pizza.
While the Grand Hyatt is also good, we think the Hyatt Regency is the best of the downtown Hyatt hotels, as the club lounge is so unusual, with incredible views and really nice decor. We also like the fact that the evening food offered in the lounge will fill you up.
The Grand Hyatt currently costs 20,000 World of Hyatt Points per night on a redemption booking or 27,000 points if you want a club room with club lounge access.
2. Grand Hyatt San Francisco
The Grand Hyatt is definitely one of the best chain hotel choices in San Francisco. The Grand is also marginally closer to transit or public transport options than the Regency. This Union Square location is ideal for dining and shopping. It is also easy to walk to Chinatown or catch a cable car.
The Club lounge at the Grand Hyatt San Francisco is on the 32nd floor of the 36 story building, which means you can enjoy some great views. The look inside is modern, with hues of brown and mustard, a sofa area in the middle, and cafeteria-style seating to the side. High bar stools and tables are set up against the windows so that you can enjoy the views while working, eating, or drinking.
The lounge has a coffee machine and a set of refrigerators that hold juices, sodas, water, and even yogurts. Both of these are available throughout the day.
For breakfast, there is a huge array of pastries, including muffins, cakey bread, croissants, and some pastries with fruit in the middle, along with cereals in mini boxes including Raisin Bran, Cheerios, and Frosted Flakes, and a variety of juices. There is a large bowl of smoked salmon next to the savory bagels and bread for toasting, and there are tomatoes, onions, and cream cheese to go with these. There is a big fruit bowl with apples, oranges, bananas, chopped and melon strawberries, with the rather odd addition of a lump of cheese on a wooden platter. To go with your scrambled egg there’s ham and other meats, tomato, and salad.
In the afternoon, the fruit bowl remains out, and a big bowl of various cookies is available, which can go with all the drinks in the refrigerator and the coffee from the coffee machine.
You can have alcoholic drinks from the honor bar in the evening, which are very cheap at around $2 USD for a beer and $3 USD for a glass of wine. The canapés are squirts of cream cheese with salmon or meat on small pastry bases, along with salad items, including raw broccoli, celery, carrot, and tomatoes with dips. There is plenty of cheese, and the highlight is two large and plentiful hot options, including vegetarian pasta and chicken pasta in tomato sauce, which would be more than enough to fill you up in the evening.
The Grand Hyatt currently costs 20,000 World of Hyatt Points per night on a redemption booking.
3. Hyatt Centric Fisherman’s Wharf
Located on the northeastern tip of San Francisco’s peninsula, the Hyatt Centric Fisherman’s Wharf offers comfortable amenities, usually at a cheaper rate, Vs. the Hyatt Regency and Grand Hyatt.
There are 316 guest rooms with 47-inch flat-screen TVs and Keurig coffee makers, minifridges, and complimentary high-speed internet access. Nightly parking fees are expensive at around $60 USD. Families will enjoy the hotel’s heated outdoor pool.
Hyatt Centric Fisherman’s Wharf San Francisco currently costs 20,000 World of Hyatt Points per night on a redemption booking.
4. Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport SFO
Situated 15 miles from downtown San Francisco, this hotel is not ideal for those who need to access the city center but is ideal for those who need to sleep near San Francisco International Airport (SFO).
With 789 guest rooms and suites, an outdoor pool, and a 24-hour gym on-site, there are plenty of facilities. The location will make or break the decision when you decide which Hyatt is best in San Francisco.
The Grand Hyatt currently costs 12,000 World of Hyatt Points per night on a redemption booking or 17,000 points if you want a club room with club lounge access. This is your best Hyatt redemption choice at SFO airport.
5. Grand Hyatt San Francisco Airport SFO
Step off the AirTrain and into the lobby of Grand Hyatt at SFO, where you will enjoy luxurious rooms with stunning views of the bay and airport through soundproof floor-to-ceiling windows.
Situated at San Francisco Airport, this hotel is not ideal for those who need to access the city center but is for those who need to sleep near San Francisco International Airport (SFO).
It seems that you can’t redeem points at this Hyatt. We tried numerous dates and got the message: “Unfortunately, this hotel is not accepting World of Hyatt points or award during those dates. Explore our other rates or modify your search.” Perhaps some dates are available, but we couldn’t find them, so this is a good choice on cash but not on World Of Hyatt Redemption.
6. Andaz Napa
While there are currently no Andaz branded Hyatts in San Francisco, there are Andaz hotels in California. A top pick is the Andaz Napa, a Boutique West End hotel near Oxbow Public Market & wineries. This is currently your nearest Andaz to San Francisco.
