I review the best airport club lounges available at Siem Reap International Airport (REP). Siem Reap International Airport serves Siem Reap, a popular tourist destination due to nearby Angkor Wat. It is the second busiest airport in Cambodia after Phnom Penh International Airport.
Siem Reap International Airport (REP) is located 8 km from Siem Reap city center and 6 km from Angkor Wat temple. On average, it takes 20 minutes to reach the city and about the same time to reach Angkor Wat temple, depending on your choice of transportation and traffic.
Visitors come here to see the temples, of course, but there is plenty to do in and around Siem Reap city when you’re templed out. Siem Reap has reinvented itself as the epicenter of chic Cambodia, with everything from backpacker party pads to hip hotels, world-class wining and dining across a range of cuisines, sumptuous spas, great shopping, local tours to suit both foodies and adventurers, and a creative cultural scene that includes Cambodia’s leading contemporary circus.
We have already investigated the best hotel club lounges at hotels in Siem Reap. Now we look at the airport lounges and make a similar comparison.
The airport is very upscale and trendy, if small, with some really nice shops and free Wi-Fi. I will be reviewing each of the airport club lounges in Siem Reap airport in detail so that you know what you’ll get if you book club lounge access or get upgraded to a club lounge because you are flying in First or Business (or are a premium member of the airline loyalty scheme.
1. Plaza Premium Lounge: Siem Reap International Airport (REP)
If you are an economy class traveler, you can access the Plaza Premium Lounge as long as you are happy to buy a day pass or have a Priority Pass.
If you fly out of Siem Reap International Airport in Business Class on SilkAir, you get access to the Plaza Premium Lounge. You can also access this lounge with your Priority Pass card. If you don’t have access to the lounge, here is a Starbucks as well as Costa Coffee in the transit area of the airport.
The Plaza Premium Lounge is like a cathedral and is found past immigration and customs. It is opposite the Bangkok Airways’ Boutique Lounge near Gate 1.
This lounge is great in both size, airiness, and modern finish. There is a decent selection of hot and cold dishes, although it can get quite busy. There is a big salad counter, a hot food counter, and a noodle station where you can enjoy fresh noodles on request.
There are plenty of seats with USB outlets, and drinks-wise, you have two glasses of beer or wine with each entry, after which you are charged.
Perhaps one of the nicest features of this lounge is the large and pleasant outdoor seating area for some fresh air while you wait for your flight. Showers are also available in the Plaza Premium Lounges at REP airport.
Although this is an independent airport lounge, it is very decent and comparable to an international airline lounge.
2. Boutique Lounge: Siem Reap International Airport (REP)
The Boutique Lounge at Siem Reap International Airport (REP) is located at the International Departure Terminal near gate no.1. This lounge is for passengers flying with Bangkok Airways.
Passengers of Bangkok Airways traveling from Siem Reap to Bangkok route can enjoy this lounge and treat themselves to a multitude of free snacks, various choices of hot or cold drinks, and free Wi-Fi Internet access.
3. Blue Ribbon Lounge: Siem Reap International Airport (REP)
Bangkok Airways’ business class passengers get access to the Blue Ribbon Club, as do any passengers with FlyerBonus Premier Membership. Services such as hot meals and a personal shower room. Both lounges are located near exits 4 and 5 in the International Departure Hall.
