1. The Naka Island, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Phuket
The Naka Island, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Phuket, is a Rewards Category 6 Marriott Bonvoy hotel and is your best points Marriott Bonvoy hotel in Phuket (or actually just off the coast of Phuket). We also think that this is the best and most exclusive Marriott Bonvoy hotel in Thailand.
The resort is on an exclusive luxury island located just off the east coast of Phuket and is reached by a short speedboat journey. Apart from the resort, there’s not much else to be found on Naka Yai, except for a picturesque fishing village and a couple of near-empty beaches. Once you’ve arrived on this exclusive island, you will find rich coconut groves, ivory sandy beaches, and limestone cliffs.
The resort features 80 rooms and villas, either located on the beachfront or on the gently sloping hillside. While the rooms are great, the villas are the real stars of the resort, with clay walls and thatched roofs. The Sea View Pool Villa offers a glimpse of the Andaman Sea through the lush foliage, a separate bedroom pavilion, a semi-outdoor bathroom, and a private pool with sala, all linked by walkways made of large, flat pebbles.
There are two restaurants, a bar, library, reception area, and a large spa facility, all with the ambiance of barefoot luxury. The lagoon-style freshwater pool, which looks out over the sparkling sea, and Phang Nga Bay at the horizon. There’s also a second adult’s only pool a few steps behind the reception.
Facing the west coast of Phuket island, Naka Island’s private beach features white sands and is bordered by calm emerald-green waters. Furnished with umbrellas and sun loungers, with a food and beverage service.
Naka Island features two dining venues located beside each other. The food is good (but pricey). Z bar is situated on the oceanfront and offers a view of Phang Nga Bay’s limestone karsts on the horizon, jutting out vertically of the Andaman Sea. It’s the best place for cocktails and light bites.
2. Atheene Hotel, A Luxury Collection of Hotel
Atheene Hotel is a member of the Luxury Collection of Hotels, which is part of the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program and a rewards category 5 hotel. This is probably the best Marriott Bonvoy hotel in Bangkok as it is luxurious and it has a club lounge.

Whether you are savoring the sumptuous cuisine at eight restaurants and bars, indulging in the holistic treatments at Athenee Spa, or taking a dip in the free-form rooftop pool, you should enjoy this hotel.

In the heart of Bangkok, the BTS Skytrain Phloen Chit station is within three minutes walking distance. The associated Skywalk means that prime shopping venues such as the Central Embassy, CentralWorld, and Siam Paragon can all be reached comfortably on foot.
374 rooms and suites offer a gracious style that pays homage to Thailand’s storied history. All accommodations feature a Luxury Collection bed dressed in pure white cotton and topped with feather pillows and a lightweight duvet. 4. The Naka Phuket, a Member of Design Hotels™
The Naka Phuket, a Member of Design Hotels, is a Rewards Category 6 Marriott Bonvoy hotel and is one of your best points redemption and earning Marriott hotels in Phuket.
This 95 pool villa resort is perfectly located in Kamala Bay. It is possibly the only resort on the island to offer two natural settings where an exclusive beach meets with an unspoiled hillside. The resort is only accessible via an isolated mountain road, making it the perfect location for those seeking to experience the ultimate feeling of seclusion, but only 10 km away from Phuket’s bustling nightlife area of Patong.
To maximize your enjoyment, book one of the pool villas, which have great views of the bay with plenty of light, as walls are actually made from glass. Breakfast is included in all the rates, and so there are no platinum benefits whatsoever. The food in the restaurant is very good, and there is a free shuttle to Patong (which is a hectic Marmite resort that you either love or hate!)
5. Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, a Luxury Collection Hotel
Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, a Luxury Collection Hotel Bangkok is a Rewards Category 5 hotel located in the heart of downtown Bangkok. With a direct sky bridge access to Asok BTS SkyTrain and Terminal 21 shopping mall and only a few steps to MRT Sukhumvit Subway station, EmDistrict, MBK, and more are moments away.
During the day, relax at the hotel’s free-form swimming pool set in a lush tropical garden or unwind with a massage or facial in the tranquility of The Grande Spa. In the evening, visit The Living Room, where international jazz artists perform every night.
Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit offers 420 spacious guest rooms that pay homage to the exquisite local culture and aesthetics. Decorated with exotic teakwood, gleaming marble, and shimmering Thai silks and enhanced with the latest technology and connectivity, guests are assured of a memorable stay in downtown Bangkok.
6. Phulay Bay, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve
Nestled onto the shores of the Andaman Sea, Phulay Bay, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve represents the intersection of nature, culture, and luxury. Discover a beach resort where you can wake up to yoga on the beach, spend the afternoon hiking Krabi’s majestic Dragon Crest Mountain, and unwind with a private dinner overlooking the ocean. Other amenities include exclusive wellness retreats, well-appointed villas, and traditional Thai cultural experiences.
7. JW Marriott Bangkok
The JW Marriott Bangkok is a great place to earn and redeem your Marriott Bonvoy points. The hotel is the first stop on Sukhumvit Rd, the center of the city near Soi 2. This JW Marriott is a big hotel located near Nana’s nightlife and crowds. The hotel is stylish, in a Marriot-way, with comfy beds and good blackout curtains.
Their club lounge can be found on the 16th floor, and the entrance is decorated with pretty flower arrangements – a nice touch. Inside, there is an open kitchen, lots of dark woods, a light marble floor, and an outdoor terrace to enjoy a meal outside or for smokers to have a cigarette (which is not ideal for non-smokers who want some fresh air).
Breakfast includes an array of bread, croissants, and bagels, and there are loads of fruit and cereals. A real-life chef cooks made-to-order omelets (which meats preheated eggs that you will get in other lounges).
Each night, complimentary cocktails, including beer and wine, are available late in the afternoon to early evening. A variety of hot food, as well as salads, cheeses, and desserts, are also available in the evening. Each night has a different theme of cuisine, e.g., Japanese with sushi. For each meal, you get more than two hot appetizers, and you’ll find options like fish cakes, sushi, and sliders. This food is more than enough to fill you up, so you don’t need to head out for an extra evening meal.
8. JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa
While there is a JW Marriott on Phuket, the JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa, which is featured below, there is an even better JW Marriott up the coast which should be considered when you arrive in Phuket. Although it is not on Phuket island, it is usually the better choice when deciding which Marriott Bonvoy hotel to stay in. It is also cheaper than the JW Marriott Phuket on redemption as it is a Rewards Category 5 hotel, while the JW Marriott Phuket is a Rewards Category 6 Marriott Bonvoy hotel.
Just one and a half hours drive North from Phuket airport. You will find JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa. Located in Khao Lak, Phang Nga, this luxury hotel is a convenient retreat for those seeking adventure on the nearby Similan and Surin Islands or an animal experience like no other at a local elephant sanctuary.
This resort on the Andaman Sea features stunning pools and beaches. Nine beautiful restaurants and bars give you a variety of options for meals throughout the day, and the full-service spa offers a true luxury experience. Flexible indoor and outdoor venues make for the perfect destination for a wedding.
Modern and stylish guest rooms combine traditional elements unique to Khao Lak with the luxury of a five-star hotel. Choose the room that suits your needs, from premium rooms to suites, from romantic escapes to family fun. The style is typical JW Marriott with lots of dark wood. It is classy but not overly modern.
The highlights of this hotel are the great beach for swimming, although not usually for snorkeling as the waves can be big, in which case you won’t see much off the hotel beach. That said, it’s an easy trip to Similan Island, where snorkeling is fantastic. This is also a very large resort, so don’t expect the boutique experience.
Another highlight at the JW Khao Lak is the pool, which is huge with a small but fun water slide, making it a great choice for kids. By comparison, the JW in Phuket has small pools, which are not ideal for kids to play in, making the JW Khao Lak a much better choice for families. Of course, the resort is fairly remote, but then so is the JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa.
9. JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa
JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa is a Rewards Category 6 Marriott Bonvoy hotel and is one of your best points redemption and earning Marriott hotels in Phuket.
The hotel itself is beautiful and lush with luxury Thai-inspired decor. It is an old property but well maintained. This luxury resort is also just steps from Mai Khao Beach, which is a superb beach. From here, guests can also explore the islands of Phang Nga Bay, including ‘James Bond’ Island, Old Town Phuket, and the Royal Phuket Marina.
The resort offers guest rooms, suites, and villas filled with luxury amenities, including plush bedding, marble bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, 24-hour room service, and free Wi-Fi, as well as outdoor space overlooking the tropical gardens or the Andaman Sea. Luxury suites boast whirlpools on their spacious decks, while stunning oceanfront villas offer ample entertaining space and private pools.
This luxury resort features an award-winning spa, family-friendly outdoor pools, which aren’t as good as the JW above. However, one could argue that the JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa has the edge on luxury. In fact, there are 3 pools at this hotel, with one exclusively for adults. The JW Marriott Phuket also features a modern gym and many activities, such as Thai cooking classes, and 11 extraordinary restaurants and bars.
One advantage of this JW Marriott Phuket is that it’s near the turle village and Mai Khao Plaza (about a 5-minute walk from the lobby), which is ideal if you are looking for shops and cheaper restaurants.
Platinum Marriott Bonoy members can enjoy a very good free breakfast here. Book a stay here with our luxury travel concierge, and you will get a free breakfast as well as extra benefits.
10. Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa
Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa is a Marriott Bonvoy Reward Category 5 resort, a 5-star retreat on Phuket Island with beachfront villas, on-site dining, a spa, a pool and more. Due to its size, it feels more boutique and more modern than the JW Marriott hotels featured above.
The beach here is long and empty, but there can be big waves and a strong current in certain weather conditions. The hotel itself is immaculate with a fantastic breakfast, better than the breakfast at the JW, and being a small resort, it feels very romantic. The best rooms are the Pool Villas, which are really private and are a better choice than the Naka Island Villas. All scenic hotel rooms and beachfront villas with stylish decor, pillowtop bedding, and sleek, modern bathrooms with robes, slippers, and deluxe toiletries
While the JW Marriotts above feel more like mega-resorts, whereas the Renaissance feels more boutique, although it can also feel more isolated without a car. If you have Platinum status, you have a good chance of being upgraded to a plunge pool villa at this hotel, which may well make it a better choice than the JW Marriotts.
On-site dining options include a captivating Thai restaurant, global comfort cuisine in a casual setting, a coffee house, a beachfront bar, and an engaging lounge. Punctuate your day with a rejuvenating massage, beauty, or wellness therapy at Quan Spa, or exhilarate your body with a workout in the fitness center or swim in the outdoor pool.
