We review the best honeymoon hotels on the beaches of Thailand. Thailand’s exotic islands, decadent cities, and incredible beaches make it the perfect honeymoon choice. The coastlines of Thailand’s beautiful islands make the perfect destination for your wedding too! In this article, we hand-pick the top 10 of the best honeymoon hotels and resorts on the beaches of Thailand. The listing is in no particular order.
1. Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villas In Thailand
Oh my goodness, this is the Honeymoon resort you have been looking for! Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villas is an opulent resort with an absolutely perfect white sand beach backed by palms and jungle foliage. For your Honeymoon, you must pick one of the beachfront villas. Here you have a wooden deck and a plunge pool. You can then step down from your deck or climb out of your private pool and you are on the beach.
The resort is hidden away in the jungle, around a half-hour drive from the more hectic South coast and many guests get to the resort using a speed boat directly from Koh Samui. The resort actually has 64 pool suites, pool villas, and beachfront villas all designed with dark wood and bamboo interiors and privacy in mind, ideal for your Honeymoon. Each suite or villa has its own pool and is nestled amongst towering palms or will be right on the beach, maybe 5 steps away from the crystal clear sea. Joining the villas are pathways that meander between and over waterways filled with fish.
Within the resort, there is also an infinity pool with a swim-up bar, a luxury spa, a fully-equipped fitness center, as well as plenty of water sports including canoeing, kayaking, beach tennis, and volleyball. Excursions include a day on a luxury yacht, fishing, snorkeling in hidden bays, diving in local coral reefs, plus there are local temples to visit and jungles to trek through.
In terms of dining, guests can savor gourmet delights at the incredible resort restaurants, all in keeping with the island’s authentic setting. The Bistro @ The Beach serves world favorites at the water’s edge; Yukinoya offers a delicious bite of Japanese cuisine; while EDGE2O delivers perfectly poured drinks and tasty nibbles.
It’s hard to imagine a more romantic resort, with the plunge pools, the privacy, the beach, and the remote location which makes it one of our best honeymoon hotels in Thailand.
2. The Pavilions Phuket
Indulge your body and soul at The Pavilions Phuket for your honeymoon. Enjoy sensational west coast views, an award-winning spa, the largest outdoor pool in Phuket, and the kind of luxury that makes you feel instantly calm and content.
Phuket is home to many of Thailand’s most stunning beaches, which includes Layan Beach, relax or take a dip in those inviting clear waters, popular with divers and snorkelers too. Phuket is also home to some fabulous shopping, especially the buzzing markets and nearby Patong is the place to go for a vibrant nightlife scene. Thomson Airways is the only airline that flies direct from London to Phuket in just over 12 hours, and the resort is super-accessible, just 30 minutes from the airport.
The Pavilions Phuket is perched on a hillside high above Layan Beach on Phuket, the largest island in Thailand, offering amazing views of the ocean; the sunrise and sunsets are just incredible from this vantage point.
The resort has an air of privacy, space, and calm. The abundance of tropical greenery and the heavenly views are really all you need here, but the resort itself is beautiful too; contemporary with beautiful Asian art to remind you exactly where you are.
Set up camp at that pool; not just the largest in Phuket but a stunningly beautiful area with a tiered garden and of course those magnificent views; cocktails and snacks are served and it’s the place to be at the weekends to catch the BBQ events.
But most of the time I’d recommend relaxing on your private terrace and taking an occasional dip in your private infinity pool to cool off. If you’re after slightly more than total relaxation then take the shuttle service to Layan beach or how about elephant trekking through the rainforests or explore sea caves by canoe.
It’s not just us that adores this place; it’s multi-award-winning, with the World Luxury Spa Awards Winner 2016, World Luxury Restaurant Awards Winner 2016, and the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award 2016 among its award collection.
Your private sanctuary will be one of the 93 luxurious suites and private pool villas in this spacious, private resort. All are luxurious, beautiful spaces with a facilities list to-die-for, but the villas are the ultimate in Phuket-chic; you have your own private infinity pool which is a must here.
The Spa & Pool Pavilion is my favorite, partly because it’s so secluded that it’s accessed by a cable-driven funicular and partly because as well as your infinity pool, you have the pleasure of a private spa and steam room; literal heaven. Continue the indulgence with a treatment in the spa and wellness center. For your romantic honeymoon, the private couples spa rooms are a must.
Dining is a big part of the indulgence of staying here; there’s not one but two award-winning restaurants where gourmet Thai and continental cuisine is prepared for you by exceptionally skilled chefs. Another treat awaits at the fabulous 360° Bar; endless vistas, exclusive signature cocktails, and eclectic tapas make it the place to go to watch the sunset and stay into the evening; let the indulgence continue.
3. Soneva Kiri
Soneva Kiri is found on the island of Koh Kood on the eastern coast of Thailand. It is Thailand’s fourth-largest but least populated island. Its remote location means that it remains far less spoilt that Thailand’s more popular islands. Whisk yourself to paradise in the Soneva Kiri private 8 seater plane, just an hour’s flight from Bangkok International airport. Surely the perfect way to start your honeymoon?
Koh Kood is famed for its pure waterfalls, crystal clear waters, and traditional village life. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty with lush, verdant, tropical jungle, and pristine beaches. The resort’s 34 private villas sit either on the beach or on the sun dazed slopes amongst the rainforest gazing over the Gulf of Siam.
Each is generously large – the most spacious in all of Asia – offering complete privacy and every level of five-star luxury and comfort. The resort offers everything from 1 bedroom Bayview Pool Villa Suites with pool, outdoor bathroom, dressing area, and dining area right up to the sprawling Six Bedroom Sunset Ocean View Pool Reserve.
The resort makes the lightest possible footprint on the environment and blends seamlessly into its natural surroundings. Only natural and sustainable building materials have been used, resulting in the rustic-chic, ‘no news, no shoes’ barefoot luxury which is the Soneva standard.
Food and wine are excellent and the team of chefs use only the freshest ingredients, locally grown or sourced, often from the resort’s own organic fruit and vegetable gardens. Soneva Fushi also has Benz’s restaurant, a small dwelling amongst the mangroves, accessed only by boat and lit by fireflies and candles. It is the name restaurant of Khun Benz, who has returned from 10 years at Soneva Fushi, who produces some of the best Thai food in Thailand.
The View offers modern European fine dining with an Asian twist all enjoyed with its spectacular vistas and unparalleled outlook; So Spirited is a poolside restaurant perched on a cliff, overlooking the sea beyond, offering delectable tapas and beverages.
Honeymooners will love the candlelit dinners at Benz or can marvel at the view from the spectacular Treepod Dining. The Treepod is a cocoon-like rattan frame lifted 16 feet above the ground. Waiters deliver each course via zipline!
There is more to do at Soneva Kiri, from the children’s Den, a bamboo structure in the shape of a Manta Ray, complete with a drawbridge to keep out adults, to every water sport and excellent diving and snorkeling, to cooking classes, an observatory, sunset cruises, day trips to neighboring islands and guided jungle treks, to watching classic movies on the big screen at Cinema Paradiso.
The Six Senses Spa is nestled into the tangled branches of the jungle and welcomes children as well as adults.
The photo above was taken by photographer and videographer Sandro Bruecklmeier. They say pictures say a thousand words and I’m sure you’ll agree that the deep blue-green sea framed by the verdant green rainforested hillsides is as close to paradise as you will probably get.
4. Amanpuri
It is no secret that I love Aman Hotels. You can read about my recent trip to Aman Grand Canale Venice which was also utterly romantic and a great honeymoon option closer to home (for us Brits).
Amanpuri Phuket is tucked away in Surin beach alongside the holiday homes of the rich and famous on Phuket. The beach can only be reached via the hotel or by boat, keeping it almost completely private.
In Sanskrit, Amanpuri means “place of peace,” a fitting name for such a tranquil destination. Designed for your complete relaxation and rejuvenation, the resort is the firstborn in the Aman family.
A towering Thai pavilion sits at the Amanpuri’s center, fringed by lush jungle and facing onto a vast black-tiled swimming pool with a glorious view of the Andaman Sea. A stone staircase leads to Pansea beach, a rustic-chic restaurant, more swimming pools, a watersports center, and tennis courts. An excellent spa is tucked away on the other side of the resort, overlooking Bang Tao beach.
Amanpuri’s rooms exude Thai elegance. Garden pavilions are secluded, with a walled garden, sunken bath, and outdoor shower. Pavilions 103 and 105 have the most striking sea views. Pick a Garden Pool Pavilion for utterly private dips in your own plunge pool.
At the Aman Spa, natural herb-infused treatments are offered in six light-filled pavilions that include a private steam room, shower, bath, and outdoor meditation sala. These are joined by a gym and Pilates studio with panoramic views, a yoga and meditation pavilion, and four floodlit tennis courts.
5. Six Senses Yao Noi
Six Senses Yao Noi in Phuket is one of the most luxury resorts in Asia with a price tag to match but you must splurge on your honeymoon, right? Six Senses Yao Noi offers 56 tree house pool villas that will appeal to your inner child and to honeymoon couples.
Perched on a cliffside like lovers’ nests, they feel like you are staying in a luxury treehouse and offer with jaw-dropping views over Phang Nga Bay’s limestone pinnacles. These rustic villas with palm leaf roofs, provide complete luxury for your honeymoon.
Laze by the infinity pool which is so perfect that you feel you might swim right off the edge. Eat at the split-level dining room which is surrounded by natural vegetation and a waterfall, drink on a day-bed in the main house, stay as long as you can afford.
While this is not on a beach, it must be considered as you have your very own pool villa to enjoy, almost as good as a beach?
6. Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui
The only Four Seasons Resort in Thailand set on a beach is Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui. We love Four Seasons hotels and have already reviewed some of the best Four Seasons in the world. This Four Seasons hotel is easily one of the very best luxury hotels in Thailand. Escape to a pristine luxury paradise of white sandy beaches, bordered by tropical greenery and calm blue seas.
If your perfect honeymoon is lounging by the infinity pool with a cool drink or relaxing on your private deck overlooking the Gulf of Siam, this could be the hotel for you.
Experience island perfection in your private hillside sea-facing Pool Villas or luxurious Residence Villas, shaded by coconut groves and overlooking the Andaman Sea. Your chic, alfresco living space comes with aqua-inspired interiors, complete with a private infinity pool and astonishing panoramas of Mae Nam Bay, Koh Phangan, and the Gulf of Thailand.
A gourmet paradise awaits you, where a creative workhouse, with a distinct setting and ambiance, offers Southern Thai cuisine. Explore these authentic flavors that speak for themselves as you sit perched on a breezy hilltop amid a plantation of coconut palms and simply stunning views. KOH Thai Kitchen and Bar is the perfect place to go back to the roots of the island’s favorite dishes – both beloved and brand new.
Located right on the beach, Pla Pla is undoubtedly the most refined Mediterranean restaurant in Koh Samui. With fabulous ocean views and a barefoot luxury ambiance in the day, this is the perfect place for a relaxed lunch. The daytime menu features fresh seafood and handpicked favorites.
Set on the edge of the brand new 50-meter-long infinity lap pool at the Resort’s private beach, CoCoRum enjoys stunning views of the ocean and the lush green tropical hillside. It’s the perfect location for a refreshing dip between decadent cocktails.
For generations, Thais have planted special herbal gardens – hidden havens of wellness inspired by trusted family remedies. The Secret Garden Spa draws on the wisdom of these ancient traditions. Sheltered from the bustle of busy cities and hectic schedules, it’s a sanctuary of purity devoted to healing body and being. Welcome to nature’s nurturing embrace.
7. Banyan Tree Samui
Overlooking the azure waters of the Gulf of Thailand, Banyan Tree Samui is nestled amid the lush jungle of a private bay in Lamai.
Choose to honeymoon in the comforts of your pool villa, amuse your palate with the culinary adventures provided from various dining outlets, partake in the range of recreational activities, indulge in the tender touch of the therapists at the award-winning Banyan Tree Spa Samui or soak away your worries in The Rainforest, the resort’s hydrotherapy facility.

Beyond this secluded haven, lies an abundance of excursion options for both couples and families alike, including a variety of cultural attractions as well as the idyllic natural beauty of Samui’s jungles and the breathtaking beaches, islands, and coral reefs of the Gulf of Thailand. Exquisite dining coupled with eclectic shopping makes for another way to explore the diverse offerings of this modern island that still retains its rustic charm.
From couples, families, or groups to comfort-seekers or adventure-seekers, tropical splendor awaits at Banyan Tree Samui.
8. W Koh Samui
W Koh Samui is set upon nine miles of tropical island paradise, where private-pool retreats, a tropical beach and six restaurants and bars electrify the night.
Located between Maenam and Bo Phut, W Koh Samui has the finest and most pristine beach location in Surat Thani, Thailand. The playfully posh W Koh Samui adds a Miami Beach vibe to Maenam’s sugary sands. Here, cushioned lime-green lily pads float atop the Woobar infinity pool and backlit bookshelves display a whimsical doll collection.
The party ambiance carries over to the 74 villas, which burst with color and must-touch textures; each has an oversize deck with a private pool ideal for honeymoon privacy.
Stay fit with a Thai boxing class, water polo, or tennis on the purple court; more relaxing pursuits include sunset yoga, Asia’s first Thaimazcal spa experience, and hammock lounging with W’s trademark “whatever/whenever” service.
9. Keemala Phuket
Keemala Phuket, Thailand is nestled amidst lush flora on the rainforest encrusted hills of Phuket. Overlooking Kamala village and out to the Andaman Sea, this member of Small Luxury Hotels of The World is hidden away from the crowds and offers a serene retreat.
38 Pool Villas offer pretty thatched roofs, huge four-poster beds, outdoor bathtubs, and private lap pools. All rooms overlook the rainforest, mountains, and the Andaman Sea. Over and above your own private lap pool, you will find the resort’s main freeform pool, and Jacuzzi flanked with sun loungers. There is also an hourly shuttle to Kamala beach.
Keemala is just a 3-minutes drive from Kamala Beach and not far from the liveliness of Patong Beach, but feels a world away.
10. Six Senses Samui
Utterly and unabashedly romantic, Six Senses Samui is the most delightful honeymoon dream come true. Be it yoga at sunrise, deeply relaxing spa treatments (often designed for two), soaking in the sun, the azure view at your pool villa, or day trips discovering the many delights of the island, it’s all magical. And as for the nights, enjoy sunset cocktails, dinner under a velvet sky studded with twinkling stars, world-class food and wine . . . it’s moments like these that you will treasure forever.
