Book A Hotel

Los Cabos International Airport SJD, also named San José del Cabo Airport, MX, is the sixth-busiest airport in Mexico. Located at San José del Cabo, Baja California Sur state, Mexico, it serves San José del Cabo, Cabo San Lucas, and the Los Cabos. We review the best airline lounges below.

Los Cabos airport has two separate airport terminals. There are actually two VIP airport lounges at SJD, one in each terminal. One is near Gate 8 in Terminal 2, which is where international flights depart, and the other is near Gate 4 in Terminal 1. Both lounges are airside.

Once you arrive at Los Cabos, we have reviewed the best hotel executive club lounges in Los Cabos and the best luxury hotels in Los Cabos. We particularly like the new Four Seasons Los Cabos with its swimmable beach.

Free Airport Lounge Access

If you have not paid for Business Class or First Class, you can still access lounges at Cancun airport for a fee or for free if you have a Priority Pass. Get an unlimited Priority Pass with the Amex Platinum card, or you can also access most Priority Pass lounges for free using the free American Express Gold with its two free Lounge Club passes. 1. VIP Lounge (Terminal 2)

The VIP Lounge in Terminal 2 is located beyond security near gate 8 and is a great lounge with private washrooms. You will find the lounge is at the far end of the terminal. The lounge is free with your Priority Pass lounge, which means American Express Platinum Card holders get unlimited free access.

I really like the design of this lounge. It feels a bit “Thunderbird” with lots of silver light circles on the ceiling, wooden partitioning, and white pillars and seating. There are two levels and lots of purple carpeting. The 2nd-floor level is accessible by an elevator or stairs located in the back corner of the lounge.

We found some really nice seats in the back corner of the lounge on the second level as these seats have a direct view of the airport runway (although admittedly over a roof). There’s also a larger bar and seating area upstairs than downstairs.

The food on offer is OK with snacks and sandwiches. The sandwiches include tuna and turkey on white bread. Not very special but enough to satisfy any craving for food, plus there are crisps and salads too. It’s a fairly decent food spread for a Priority Pass lounge.

Drinks are generous with fridges of soft drinks and just about every alcoholic drink you could wish for, including martini cocktails. They describe the offering as beer, wine, and lite cocktails, and waiters will serve you with whatever you want.

2. VIP Lounge (Terminal 1)

The VIP Lounge in Terminal 1 is located inside security near Gate 4 on the second level with complimentary food, drinks, and private washrooms. The lounge is free with your Priority Pass lounge, which means American Express Platinum Card holders get unlimited free access.

This is a nice looking lounge with floor to ceiling windows and lots of natural light, curves, and circle lights on the ceiling. The food on offer is OK with snacks and sandwiches, plus there are crisps and salads too. The food is virtually the same in both lounges at this airport. It’s a fairly decent food spread for a Priority Pass lounge.
