Receive complimentary breakfast at Luxury Hotels
Cancún International Airport (CUN) is located in Cancún, Quintana Roo, on the Caribbean coast of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. It is Latin America’s fourth and Mexico’s second busiest airport, after Mexico City International Airport, and it connects travelers to hotels in Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, Tulum, and Isla Mujeres. Below I outline the very best Priority Pass lounges at Cancun International airport and the best non-Priority Pass airline lounges too.
Cancun International Airport has two main terminals. There is one VIP airport lounge in each terminal, neither is a specific airline lounge and both can be accessed with a Lounge Club or Priority Pass membership or you can pay at the door.
Once you arrive at Canun, we have reviewed the best hotel executive club lounges in Cancun and the best luxury hotels in Cancun.
Free Airport Lounge Access
If you have not paid for Business Class or First Class, you can still access lounges at Cancun airport for a fee or for free if you have a Priority Pass. Get an unlimited Priority Pass with the Amex Platinum card, or you can also access most Priority Pass lounges for free using the free American Express Gold with its two free Lounge Club passes. 1. Mera Business Lounge, Terminal 3
The Mera Business Lounge, Terminal 3 is located inside security and is the best lounge at Cancun airport. It is the lounge most US-bound passengers use, as this Terminal serves United, Southwest, Virgin America, Delta, Spirit, Frontier, and American Airlines.
The lounge is a Priority Pass lounge, which means American Express Platinum Card holders get unlimited free access and it is a really nice lounge with decent food.
This is the most stylish lounge in the airport with benches cut directly from the trinks of trees with rough tree bark edges, unique wooden partitions, bespoke wooden and padded seating, high stools, bucket chairs, sofas, and more. The walls have a pinewood covering with fake grass in patches which gives a really nice inside-outside feel.
The food here is fresh and much better than the Mera Business lounge in terminal 3 reviewed below. Expect pepperoni style meats, bread, lovely fresh salads, delicious chicken wraps, skewers of mozzarella and tomato, assorted cheeses, and more. Beers and wines are available; cans of Corona, bottles of Victoria, and self-pour wines. Spirits include Gin, Whiskey, Jack Daniels, Rum, Kahlua, etc.
2. Mera Business Lounge, Terminal 2
Mera Business Lounge, Terminal 2 is located beyond security and is not a great lounge. The lounge is a Priority Pass lounge, which means American Express Platinum Card holders get unlimited free access.
The food on offer is OK with snacks and sandwiches. The sandwiches include cheese and ham croissants, cheese and ham rolls, and chicken rolls as well as cut fruit. You can also choose a snack from biscuits, mints, and little plastic bowls of pretzels or nuts. That’s it, this is not a full meal service, but you should be able to find a sandwich to your liking.
Drinks are fairly limited too. You can pour the juice out of cartons, and there are bottles of coke, diet coke, sprite, and cans of beer in the fridge. There are also spirits and red wine set out. Again with a very limited number of choices.
There is no particular style in this lounge and while it is not hideous, it is really just a bunch of chairs and partitions in a room. Nothing special, making this a very average and generic lounge. It is, however, your best and only choice in terminal 2. Worth noting, this terminal can get unpleasantly busy so while this lounge isn’t great, it’s a lot better than trying to find a spare seat in the main terminal.
