The closest airport to Punta de Mita, Nayarit Riviera is Puerto Vallarta International Airport also named Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International airport (PVR), and we review the best airline lounges at this airport.
Puerto Vallarta International Airport is located about 19 miles (31 km) southeast of Punta Mita in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. There are three VIP lounges at PVR. An International departures lounge, a domestic departures lounge, and an arrivals lounge. All three lounges offer day passes for around $40 USD and are Priority Pass lounges.
Once you arrive at Puerto Vallarta, we have reviewed the best luxury hotels in Puerto Vallarta and the best luxury hotels in Punta Mita, Riviera Nayarit.

1. VIP Lounge, International
The best VIP Lounge in Puerto Vallarta Airport (PVR) is the International VIP lounge which is near the international gates. It is a stylish multi-level international lounge and you can access it for free with your Priority Pass. If you are flying to the US or Canada, this is the lounge you will want to access.
This is a smart lounge and you can order cocktails at the bar or grab some food from the self-serve buffet. The food on offer is decent with a mix of sandwiches and plated salads covered in cling-film.
There are more seats downstairs than upstairs and you will find toilets and showers downstairs too. The look throughout the lounge is stylish and modern with all sorts of seating ranging from high stools with benches to lower sofa seats.
2. VIP Lounge, Domestic
The Domestic VIP Lounge is open daily and can be found airside near the domestic gates. The lounge is small and just one room and can get crowded, but it offers a decent sized bar area and you can order complimentary cocktails and pretty much any alcoholic drink you like. There is also a food spread with plated salads under clingfilm, sandwiches, and soup.
The lounge also has showers (for a fee), newspapers, and magazines. This lounge isn’t very exciting and the chairs show some wear, but it’s a pleasant space with nice lighting and kind staff and it’s quieter than the main terminal, so it is worth using if you have free access with your flight or your Priority Pass.
3. Arrival Lounge
This airport arrival lounge is available to international and domestic passengers after clearing customs. There are two entrances to the lounge, near the exit from customs and near the coffee shop by the main arrivals door.
You can access this arrivals lounge with your Priority Pass for free and it could be useful if the connection (taxi or minibus) to your hotel is delayed. There isn’t much in the lounge, so I wouldn’t go out of your way to spend time in this lounge. It is tiny with a bathroom, self serve drinks including alcohol and snacks like nuts, as well as plated salads in clingfilm (much like in the main lounges of this airport). If you arrive in Puerto Vallarta Airport hungry or thirsty, it might be worth picking up a bite or a drink from this arrivals lounge before you head off to your hotel.
