We review the best luxury hotels and resorts in Turks & Caicos, including Amanyara, Ambergris Caye, Beach Enclave Villas, Grace Bay Club, Parrot Cay, Regent Palms, The Sands at Grace Bay, The Shore Club Turks and Caicos, Turks & Caicos, West Bay Club.

The Turks & Caicos Islands are famous among seasoned travelers for their crystal clear turquoise seas, white sand beaches, unspoiled Caribbean tranquility, and unquestionably some of the best luxury hotels in the Caribbean.

Only 575 miles southeast of Miami, the Turks & Caicos Islands are made up of an archipelago of eight major islands along with many picturesque cays. The islands are relatively flat, covering 193 square miles, and only eight of the islands are inhabited. On the north side, facing the Atlantic Ocean, rests a long barrier reef that protects the islands while providing superlative vistas for scuba diving and many other water activities.

The Turks & Caicos have long maintained a cordial relationship with the British Crown. In fact, the island nation became a British Commonwealth Colony in 1962. The country retains a distinctly British flair and is now officially termed an Independent Overseas Territory.

The highlight of the Turks & Caicos is the island of Providenciales, which features the stunningly beautiful 12-mile Grace Bay Beach, dotted by boutique Caribbean hotels, top luxury resorts, upscale vacation homes, and condominiums.

Turks & Caicos benefit from a pleasant climate with low humidity and breezy offshore winds. The main island of Providenciales is especially temperate and comfortably dry year-round. Temperatures average in the mid-70s in winter and mid-80s in summer.

On the north shore of the island, near Grace Bay, you will find some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, as well as a long and thriving coral reef, rich in aquatic life. This section of the Turks & Caicos is also home to Grace Bay Club, one of the top luxury resorts in the Caribbean. On the far western end lies the pristine and unspoiled Malcolm’s Beach, just adjacent to the magnificent, 5 Star Amanyara Resort.

Thirty-five minutes away by speedboat is Parrot Cay. This 1000-acre island now hosts the ultra-luxurious and very private vacation hideaway Parrot Cay Resort and Spa.

1. Amanyara

It is no secret that Aman Resorts is one of my favorite luxury hotel brands and Amanyara is certainly one of the best luxury hotels in the world. You can also read our review of Aman Canal Grande Venice and take a look at Amanera in the Dominican Republic.

You will find some of the best beaches in the world on Turks and Caicos Islands, and Amanyara resort is located along the pristine reefs of Northwest Point Marine National Park, acclaimed for some of the world’s best wall and reef diving. As you would expect from an Aman hotel, Amanyara feels ultra-exclusive and offers a slick escape of silvery-topped pavilions, chic teak terraces, and shaded loungers centered on a huge infinity pool designed using volcanic rock with a conical bar. The overall feel is Asia in the Caribbean with a Zen and peaceful feel, many miles away from the jolly and colorful resorts on islands like Jamaica.

Entry to Amanyara, one of the best luxury resorts in the Caribbean, is through a grand reception pavilion that opens before a formal reflecting pond that is landscaped with picturesque trees. The impressive pond is framed by the library and boutique on one side across from a dining room and terrace on the other. The terrace offers you sweeping views of the half-mile white sand beach.

Amanyara’s pavilions or rooms are identically designed with natural materials and platform king-sized beds, decked terraces, and atmospheric slatted shutters. The only choice you need to make is the position of your pavilion (or room). Pavilions are located either inland, bordered by tranquil ponds with timber sun decks over the water or they are oceanfront with views out to sea and paths down to the shoreline. Some of the inland pavilions feature private pools. All Pavilions have three-sided glass walls that slide away to leave the room open to cooling breezes and feature a combined bedroom and living room separated from the bathroom area by a decorative wooden screen. You will find freestanding bathtubs in the bathrooms and a rain shower.

For larger groups, there are 18 Villas comprised of three-bedroom pavilions overlooking one of the resort’s ponds. Bedroom pavilions are centered around a swimming pool, and close by are two pavilions for lounging and dining. Each Villa is staffed with maids, and transportation is provided within the resort by way of a complimentary golf cart.

The cuisine on offer in the Dining Room includes a bountiful selection of Asian and Mediterranean fare with an emphasis on seafood from around the Turks & Caicos. Just beyond the Dining Room, leading to the swimming pool, is the Lounge. Amanyara’s famous Lounge includes a central service bar with the unique feature being a number of oversized lounging day beds positioned around the perimeter.

Located on a dune above the southern end of the sweeping, powdery white sand beach is the Beach Club, providing informal dining throughout the day. You can return to the Beach Club’s intimate and informal area for beach barbeques in the evenings.

The pool is a great feature of this luxury hotel. Lined with timber decking, Amanyara’s infinity pool is a 50m pool that sparkles by day and becomes a star-speckled mirror by night. With views of the Atlantic (February to April, you can spot migrating humpback whales), this pool is surrounded by loungers and is the perfect place to enjoy the sunset. Beyond this, the Amanyara private beach is a half-mile-long stretch of powdery soft white sands sprinkled with oversized loungers. To the South, you will find rocky inlets and sandy coves.

The Fitness Centre includes a fully-equipped gym next to two tennis courts that feature flood-lighting for professional nighttime play. Other activities include scuba diving, beach watersports, snorkeling, and fishing. Don’t forget to sample the spa treatments provided by Amanyara’s team of highly skilled therapists. Golf enthusiasts will be thrilled to know that the Providenciales Golf Club is located a short 30-minute drive from Amanyara and is rated amongst the top 10 courses in the Caribbean.

2. Parrot Cay, a COMO Shambhala Resort

Parrot Cay, a COMO Shambhala Resort in Turks and Caicos, is located 25 minutes by speedboat from Providenciales, on a private, secluded island. Parrot Cay’s topography slopes up from the ocean to a ridge along the center of the island, whose elevation is about 50 feet.

Crystal clear turquoise waters surround its 3.2 miles of white sand beaches. Groves of cactus and thickly entwined scrub, and spreading mangroves and wetlands accent the beauty of this island’s 1,000 secluded acres.

The traditional colonial decor mixes four-poster beds with lavish white fabrics. 58 Rooms comprise of 20 Gardenview Rooms, 22 Ocean Rooms, 4 Oceanview Suites, 6 One Bedroom Beach Houses with heated private plunge pools, 3 detached One Bedroom, Beach Villas with private heated plunge pools and shower garden, 2 Two-Bedroom Beach Villa with private swimming pools, and one Three Bedroom Villa with 2 en-suite shower gardens a private swimming pool.

The main infinity pool overlooks the boats and is perched on the beachfront. It is surrounded by white-cushioned loungers, tropical vegetation, and day-bed pavilions. There’s also a beach bar by the pool for your Caribbean cocktails.

For absolute privacy, reserve a residence tucked away from the main resort. The island’s two restaurants serve gourmet dishes, including organic, healthful COMO Shambhala cuisine.
