Book A Hotel

Which top luxury hotels in Austin have the best pools? If you travel as a family with kids or as a couple looking for a great spa and swim, we list the best hotels to pick.

Without a doubt, Austin, Texas, is one of the most up-and-coming regions in the United States. Apple is constructing a $1 billion campus in Austin, Texas. The 133-acre campus, which is expected to open in 2022, will initially house 5,000 employees, with the capacity to grow to 15,000. Beyond this, work has also begun on a $1.1B Tesla plant in Austin, Texas.

1. Four Seasons Austin

Boasting more than 300 days of sunshine annually and mild fall and winter temperatures, combined with the fact the pool at Four Seasons Hotel Austin is continuously heated to 82°F, inspired designers to treat the new pool area as an all-year playground.

Pool amenities include comfortable, well-spaced lounge chairs, as well as plush daybeds spacious enough for two people; airy cabanas that present a private spot for sunbathing, reading, or an afternoon nap; lush landscaping, which gives the area the feel of a garden oasis; and views of Lady Bird Lake, visible through a custom cedar and stainless steel cable fence.

Perhaps most noteworthy, however, is a “watering hole” of an entirely different variety. Paying homage to Austin’s laidback vibe and renowned food truck scene, the Hotel’s new Trinity Point hospitality space features intimate seating areas, a fire pit, and a beverage trailer serving up an ever-rotating menu of refreshing drinks, ranging from frozen slushes to Austin-inspired cocktails.

2. Fairmont Austin

The Fairmont Austin is located directly east of Austin Convention Center, at the northeast corner of Cesar Chavez and Red River Streets. This 37-storey hotel offers 1,048 rooms and suites with views over the city skyline, State Capitol, and Lady Bird Lake.

A massive highlight of the Fairmont Austin is its expansive rooftop pool, the largest in the city. This pool area feels like it’s part of a tropical resort with verdant greenery and slick white loungers that dip their legs into the pool. This spacious, seasonally-heated pool, situated on the 7th floor of the hotel, presents the perfect retreat year-round. Guests can take a dip after applying sunscreen in the onsite, state-of-the-art contactless sunscreen kiosk and also have the option to book one of the 14 private cabanas surrounding the pool. After taking in an active day around the city or amid Austin’s surrounding natural wonders, Fairmont Austin is the perfect spot to luxuriate poolside while enjoying complimentary Evian Mineral Water Facial spritzes, chilled towels, and fruit. Guests can also order from a menu of refreshing cocktails and snacks to enjoy poolside.

3. JW Marriott Austin

While there isn’t a Ritz-Carlton in Austin if you are a Marriott Bonvoy member, your best Bonvoy hotel choice in Austin is probably JW Marriott Austin. The location of this JW is fabulous, with plenty of stores and eateries within walking distance. It is also really close to Town Lake, so you have excellent hiking and biking opportunities.

Executive suites are a great choice. Many, if not all, are corner units with floor-to-ceiling windows offering fantastic views. The executive lounge here provides a great breakfast and all-day refreshments, plus it has really lovely views overlooking the city of Austin.

This downtown Austin hotel offers excellent wellness facilities, including a state-of-the-art fitness center, an outdoor rooftop pool, and an award-winning spa. While this pool isn’t as stylish as the rooftop pool at the Fairmont, it remains one of the best pools in Austin. This rooftop space offers plenty of loungers, and the pool is a good size if you want to swim lengths.

4. Austin Marriott Downtown

The highly-anticipated Austin Marriott Downtown, opening in 2020, will feature over 600 iconic guest rooms including 25 stunning suites, a rooftop pool with breathtaking views, three bars, locally-inspired restaurants, and over 60,000 ft² of meeting space.

The pool will be spectacular, with a pool bar on the roof, which will be open to the public. The pool area will have amenities like fire pits, cabanas, and televisions.

5. Hilton Austin

Hilton Austin is situated adjacent to the Convention Center in downtown Austin, TX. The hotel is a quick walk from exclusive shopping, amazing restaurants, and fun live music venues on 6th Street and the surrounding area. Guests enjoy fantastic views of the Capitol of Texas and Lady Bird Lake from 31 stories up.

The 8th Floor lap pool, whirlpool, and sundeck are stylish and make this Hilton one of the best hotel pools overlooking Austin. There’s also a spa, sauna, and steam room, plus a fully-equipped fitness center.

6. Hyatt Regency Austin

The downtown Hyatt Regency Austin is nestled on the shores of Lady Bird Lake with close access to 6th Street, the Austin Convention Center, and South Congress for entertainment, dining, and shopping. Take a five-minute walk to Congress Ave Bridge near sunset in the summer to catch Austin’s famous bat show, featuring more than 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats.

Settle into a comfortable lounge on the spacious sundeck surrounding the outdoor pool and take in views of the Austin, Texas skyline and beautiful Lady Bird Lake. The pool is right by the lake and is surrounded by loungers with umbrellas. Dip, dive, relax and refresh yourself to your heart’s content in the pool and adjacent whirlpool.

There is also a state-of-the-art StayFit fitness center featuring magnificent lake and downtown views. This complimentary facility offers the latest in Life Fitness®, Cardio equipment, and Peloton® Spin Bikes with live and on-demand classes.

7. Renaissance Austin

Renaissance Austin is ideally situated in North Austin near The Arboretum, and overlooks the incredible beauty of Texas Hill Country. Well-designed rooms and suites boast artwork from local Austin talent, pillowtop bedding, sleek bathrooms, and high-speed internet access. Savor Texas-inspired American fare at the rooftop, farm-to-table restaurant, Knotty Deck & Bar, with an outdoor patio. Grab a coffee, pastry, or made-to-order pizza at @austinbytes.

Take a dip in the two sparkling pools. The outdoor pool is an oval shape and is surrounded by trees, so feels green. The indoor pool is rectangular in shape. Both are decent pools, but neither are desperately inspiring. There is also a 24-hour fitness center. The club lounge here is closed on weekends except for breakfast.

8. Sheraton Austin Hotel at the Capitol

Centrally located downtown, Sheraton Austin Hotel at the Capitol features a club lounge offering breakfast and evening light bites along with an indoor and an outdoor pool.

The outdoor pool is not rooftop, so don’t expect amazing views or stylish loungers dipping their feet in the waters. This outdoor pool is a generic small rectangular with loungers dotted about around it. It does the job but doesn’t offer the glamor of the pools featured above.

Other onsite features include self-parking and a valet with over 300 covered parking spaces. The hotel is also conveniently located in the heart of Austin, within walking distance from restaurants, music venues, and bars. It is only a 3-minute drive to the University of Texas Campus.

9. Austin Marriott South

Austin Marriott South offers spacious rooms with plush Marriott bedding and productive workspaces. Savor on-site dining at the Limestone Kitchen Restaurant & Lounge, open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can also explore the local Austin dining scene with restaurants like Franklin BBQ, South Congress Cafe, and Magnolia Cafe near the hotel. The indoor pool here is pleasant, with padded seats and loungers offering a nice place to relax. There’s also a fitness center.

10. Austin Marriott North

Austin Marriott North is located in the La Frontera E-Commerce Park, with easy access to an array of corporate offices including Dell Technologies, Emerson, Hewlett Packard, and IBM. In your free time, you can spend the day in the lively city of Austin or cool off at the fun-filled Typhoon, Texas.

Unwind after a long day at the fitness center featuring cardio machines and free weights, or take a dip in the refreshing indoor pool. This pool is not one you would want to lounge around. I would describe it as functional for doing lengths.

11. Residence Inn Austin South

Definitely one of the cheapest Marriott hotels in Austin with a pool is the Residence Inn Austin South. Relax in pet-friendly suites with full kitchens, free Wi-Fi, and plush Marriott bedding. Start your day with a free grab-and-go breakfast, served daily.

The outdoor pool here is small but nice, with comfy padded loungers to laze on after your dip. There’s also a SportCourt, and a 24-hour fitness center. Enjoy easy access to the University of Texas campus, Austin Convention Center, and Zilker Park. Located just 6 miles from Austin-Bergstrom Airport, this hotel is remote from the city, but you can take advantage of their evening shuttle service to explore downtown.
