1. ARCOTEL Hotel John F Berlin
If you are looking for luxury and value in Berlin, you would be hard pushed to find a better option than ARCOTEL Hotel John F Berlin, which is brilliantly located in the heart of the trendy cultural district of “Berlin-Mitte” in this vibrant capital city. This 4-star-superior-hotel is centrally located between the famous Museumsinsel and Gendarmenmarkt, directly at the “Quartier am Auswärtigen Amt”, walking distance to the renowned Friedrichstraße and the “Unter den Linden” boulevard along with its many shops and restaurants. There is also a bus stop right outside, which will connect you to the airport.
Being located in the old East side of Berlin, you gain an appreciation of the architecture from the Cold War days while staying at this hotel. If you are looking for a hotel near the Museum Island, this hotel could not be more perfectly located. The Berliner Dom is practically visible from the Arcotel John F’s front entrance.
The hotel is themed around the former US president John F Kennedy and is also close to the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The lobby is reminiscent of a golden era in American history, with an interior design that is as exclusive as the location in Berlin’s embassy quarter. Pictures of the legendary namesake president can be found throughout the hotel.
Within the hotel, there are two options for the evening. The lobby bar “Town” opens daily from 1:00 pm and has really special mood lighting in the evenings. There is also a restaurant called Foreign Affairs, open daily from noon to 3:00 pm and from 6:00 – 11:00 pm. Other facilities include a Sauna, Spa & fitness room, and a car park.
All 190 rooms, suites, and apartments have air conditioning, flatscreen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. Even the standard rooms, named “comfort rooms,” are stylish. They provide a double bed, bathroom with shower or tub, and a softly padded rocking chair as a tribute to JFK. The exceptionally comfortable bed is memorable for its outlandishly big headboard. The bathrooms have huge shower areas for a sumptuous shower experience. The toiletries are also rather special, being from the Laura Hutton selection made in Germany, and they smell amazing. Ask for a room with a view if you want to overlook the pretty church.
The breakfast here is a fantastic buffet, but if you choose a room rate that doesn’t include breakfast, there’s a local cafe just up the road which serves an excellent breakfast as well as fabulous cakes and sandwiches for later in the day.
