One&Only Royal Mirage and The Palm in Dubai are both gloriously luxurious five-star resorts, but which should you choose? Which is the best hotel?
1. Location
The One&Only Royal Mirage is closer to the rest of Dubai. The One&Only The Palm is located on the tree-shaped Palm Island archipelago and is more remote. The Palm is notoriously annoying to get on and off due to traffic queues. If you want to explore Dubai, the Mirage is the better choice. If you are looking for an exclusive resort away from the crowds, The Palm is a great choice.
2. Size
One&Only The Palm is boutique in size with only 90 rooms compared to the larger One&Only Royal Mirage with 221 guest rooms and suites. For a more exclusive feel, go for The Palm.
3. Grounds
One&Only Royal Mirage is set in 65 acres of lush, immaculate gardens, soothing fountains, arches, and so forth. You can get lost and find your own space to merge with the glorious foliage. Meandering pathways lead down to the one-kilometer sweep of Jumeirah Beach. The grounds are much larger here than at The Palm.
4. Beach
Both One&Only Royal Mirage and One&Only The Palm offer brilliant beaches.
5. Marina
One&Only The Palm has its own private marina. One&Only Royal Mirage doesn’t.
6. Rooms
Both hotels offer equally luxurious rooms. At the Palm, standard king rooms are large with cozy sofas. For the luxury of a private terrace, too, go for a junior suite. One&Only Royal Mirage’s wonderfully unique rooms and suites vary across the three stunning hotel areas – The Palace, Arabian Court, and the Residence & Spa – so you can choose from numerous room types, each with their own individual style.
7. Food
The food is a major highlight at One&Only The Palm, with three wonderful restaurants overseen by acclaimed French chef Yannick Alléno. 101 Dining Lounge & bar is hip with a DJ on most evenings and offers Mediterranean dishes next to the resort’s private marina. Stay by Yannick Alléno offers French cuisine, and Zest restaurant is a relaxed outdoor affair.
The food at The Palm is great, but if you want even more choice, One&Only Royal Mirage has 16 remarkable restaurants, bars, and lounges to discover, each with its own deliciously authentic menus to indulge in. A particularly good choice is Eauzone, offering modern Asian dining at its very best and is situated in their beach deck.
8. Style
The Palm is Andalucia-inspired with a touch of the Arabic, with low-story buildings surrounding a palm-lined pool that runs down to the sea. One&Only Royal Mirage offers three distinct environments: The Palace, Arabian Court, and Residence & Spa.
9. Family Facilities
Both hotels are family-friendly hotels, but the Royal Mirage is larger, so it has a larger variety of facilities.
10. Conclusion
If you prefer boutique hotels and want to get away from it all, choose The Palm. If you want all-singing, all-dancing luxury with loads of facilities, go for the Royal Mirage. The bottom line is that both are great and highly luxurious, so you can’t really go wrong!
