The top 10 best hotel rooms with private pools worldwide include Viceroy Bali, Amanpuri, Amanyara, Amanzoe, Belmond Hotel Cipriani, Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, JW Marriott Venice, Soneva Fushi, and Soneva Jani.

Is there anything more decadent than watching the sunset over cocktails next to your own private plunge pool? Whether you are heading to North America, South America, Asia, Africa, Europe, or even Australia, use our luxury travel concierge to book.

Here is our pick of 10 of the world’s best hotel rooms with private pools:

1. Viceroy Bali

The multi-award-winning 5-star Viceroy Bali, is one of the best hotels in Ubud Bali. This luxury hotel is just 5 minutes drive from Ubud’s thriving culture and arts center, yet the location feels like another world. This is the perfect place to relax and renew in utter tranquillity.

Wandering into the hotel’s open lobby with its marble floor, high-vaulted bamboo, and grass-thatched roof immediately washes away any stresses. A water feature trickles nearby. Make your way down a grand staircase and watch the resort open into a cool sanctuary clinging to the side of the strikingly verdant Valley of the Kings.

With only 25 pool villas, Viceroy Bali offers absolute privacy for those seeking the elegant and exotic in travel. A soft, artfully manicured garden rolls gently off to the side of the main infinity-edged pool overlooking the jungle valley opposite.

Nearby, a path leads down to CasCades restaurant, the beating heart of the resort with its 10-meter cone-shaped grass thatched roof. Here Belgian executive chef Nic inspires Balinese and Western creations imbued with a classic European sensibility. The restaurant is the perfect setting for a romantic or special occasion and offers world-class dining using only the freshest and highest quality international and local produce.

Each of the spacious 25 villas is exquisitely furnished and exceedingly private. Moreover, each villa has its own private, heated pool, outdoor cabana, and unrivaled views of the surrounding valley and dense jungle. Adding to the serenity, the rolling river’s constant calm, cool sound rises from the valley ravine as guests sit on their private terraces and relax.

General Manager Anthony Syrowatka explains, “what we’ve created is an uber-luxury haven… my family (the hotel owners) are on-site every day with a passionate and wonderful staff. For guests, there’s a sense of something they can’t describe – they get this amazing feeling of living in the jungle, a location filled with beauty, but they also feel the warmth and kindness from the staff that cannot be taught, a sense of being part of the family.” Viceroy Bali is truly a sanctuary in paradise, a lovers’ retreat.

2. Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat, a Four Seasons Hotel

The best hotel in Europe which offers rooms with private pools is the Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat, a Four Seasons Hotel on the French Riviera. Set in Belle Epoque splendor in a building that dates back to the 1800s, this ultra-luxury hotel offers everything you would expect of the very best Four Seasons hotel, but with a sprinkle of French chic.

The Grand Hotel Cap Ferrat sits on the very tip of the Cap Ferrat peninsula, in a prime position amidst gated luxury villas. The hotel is accessed by large pearly gates. Behind the gates lies immaculate, tropical grounds framed by the deep blue sea.

Rooms are either located in the main historic building with views out to sea or back inland towards the pine woods or in a newer building that must have been modeled on the Thunderbirds house. The latter, more modern rooms, offer marvelous large balconies or private swimming pools. The pools in these suites are large enough to swim in, and each pool is set among rocky outcrops with an infinity view at the end, looking out to the horizon.

Of course, you don’t come here for the rooms. You come here for the grounds, the views, the ambiance, and to immerse yourself in complete luxury. The gardens of Le Grand Hotel Cap Ferrat are a fragrant mix of pines, lush tropical bushes, cacti, and apparently, the climate is so mild that even bananas grow here.

Beyond the gardens is Club Dauphine, the beach club, accessed by crossing a tiny road and taking a cablecar down the cliff. This cable car is the absolute highlight for my son, like a glass bubble that takes you down to the pool below (and back up and down and up and down if you are 6 and like pressing buttons!). The Beach Club has a super restaurant, plenty of loungers, and a fabulous saltwater infinity pool which is great for your skin but less so for your eyes (bring your goggles if you like to splash). Of course, the staff here are as brilliant as everywhere else in the resort, offering complimentary iced lemon water and setting up loungers for you so that you can bask and absorb the views out to sea. Because Club Dauphine is on the very tip of the peninsula, the motorboats traveling between Nice and Monaco pass by incredibly close, which is great fun to watch.

Wherever you are in the world, Four Seasons hotels are consistently one of the best hotels in that city or resort. There isn’t a Four Seasons loyalty program, so you will never be able to book a free stay by racking up and redeeming points, or by collecting points on your credit card and spending them at a Four Seasons hotel. It can’t be done. But you can get discounts at Four Seasons hotels and benefit from special rewards at Four Seasons hotels for no extra cost by booking your next stay via our luxury travel concierge.

3. Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos

One of the newest Four Seasons hotels in the world is Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos. Four Seasons Los Cabos At Costa Palmas is one of the best luxury hotels in Los Cabos. A number of clients who book through our luxury travel concierge have particularly loved the rooms with private pools.

This sleek and contemporary Resort features 141 guest rooms, including 23 suites. Guests enjoy five dining options, including world-renowned estiatorio Milos; multiple retail experiences; a sports complex and fitness center; many expansive pools; Oasis Spa and Wellness Centre; a teen center and Kids for All Seasons program, as well as multiple unique indoor/outdoor celebration spaces.

Four Seasons Los Cabos At Costa Palmas encompasses over two miles of beach, and this beach is much, much calmer than the beach facing the Pacific, which is often unusable. This is why we think this is the best luxury hotel in Los Cabos Vs. Las Ventanas or One & Only Palmilla . Add in the views are of the Sierra de la Laguna mountain range, which the resort is designed to take advantage of, and you will be hard-pressed to find a more ridiculously romantic luxury hotel in Los Cabos or the world.

Our favorite Four Seasons Los Cabos rooms are on the ground floor and feature private plunge pools. Our client Mike had one of these and said, “We particularly enjoyed the privacy and incredibly easy access to the beach and pool, as well as the plunge pool. We have previously experienced Four Seasons beach resorts in Costa Rica, the Bahamas, and Punta Mita-The Cabo patio/pool/beach access and privacy were the best ever.”

I have reviewed the best way to get deals and special offers at Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos separately. The key is to book your next Four Seasons stay via our luxury travel concierge, and we can give you free loyalty-style benefits, room upgrades, and perks at the same cheapest rates.

4. JW Marriott Venice

Venice is one of our favorite destinations. There is nowhere quite like the Bond-style water taxis, the historical passageways, and the views over busy waterways. On our last trip to Venice, we fell in love with the terribly romantic Aman Canal Grande Venice, swam in the beautiful pool at the Belmond Cipriani, but if you are looking for your own private pool in Venice, the place to stay is the JW Marriott Venice in their “La Residenza Pool De Luxe room” pictured above, which comes with its own private pool.

The room’s double doors open out onto the star attraction – your own private pool, which sports a decked area with loungers, tables, and chairs, and a mini lawn where you can sit and enjoy your very own private view of Venice. The pool itself was large enough for a lovely splash, complete with spa bubbles, and the views beyond the pool are over the Venice lagoon.

5. Amanyara, Turks & Caicos

Set on the beautiful island of Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos Islands, Amanyara is a secluded haven embracing the best elements of the Caribbean. It is no secret that Aman Resorts is one of my favorite luxury hotel brands, and Amanyara is undoubtedly one of the best luxury hotels in the world.

You will find some of the best beaches in the world on the Turks and Caicos Islands, and Amanyara resort is located along the pristine reefs of Northwest Point Marine National Park, acclaimed for some of the world’s best wall and reef diving.

Rooms or “Pavilions” are found either inland bordered by tranquil ponds with timber sun decks over the water, or they are oceanfront with views out to sea and paths down to the shoreline. Choose your inland pavilions carefully, as only some feature private pools. All Pavilions have three-sided glass walls that slide away to leave the room open to cooling breezes and feature a combined bedroom and living room separated from the bathroom area by a decorative wooden screen.

The pool is an excellent feature of this luxury hotel. Lined with timber decking, Amanyara’s infinity pool is a 50m pool that sparkles by day and becomes a star-speckled mirror by night. With views of the Atlantic (from February to April, you can spot migrating humpback whales), this pool is surrounded by loungers and is the perfect place to enjoy the sunset.

Beyond this, the Amanyara private beach is a half-mile-long stretch of powdery soft white sands sprinkled with oversized loungers. To the South, you will find rocky inlets and sandy coves.

6. Soneva Jani

Brand new and the sister hotel to Soneva Fushi Resort mentioned below, Soneva Jani is located on the island of Medhufaru in the northern Atoll of Noonu, an hour by speedboat from Soneva Fushi. It offers a vast 4 kilometers of unspoiled beach.

The new resort showcases some of the most modern approaches to eco-tourism. For example, it boasts a silent outdoor cinema, where guests will listen to movies with Bluetooth earphones to not disturb the local wildlife. The resort also features 24 spacious villas, each with a private pool, as well as a private island villa for those who seek a truly exclusive retreat, with the master bedrooms boasting retractable roofs made from sustainable materials so that guests can sleep under the stars without having to leave their beds. Some of the villas even feature a gigantic water slide into the Indian Ocean.

7. Soneva Fushi Resort, Maldives

Soneva Fushi Resort , is located in the stunning Baa Atoll island archipelago, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve (the same area as Milhaidoo below). Villas are hidden among dense tropical foliage and are the stuff of romantic Robinson Crusoe fantasies, with many are built to resemble tree houses. All are open to their private stretch of sugar-white sands, and most boast private seawater swimming pools. Service is provided by Mr./Ms. Friday butlers.

Activities include a Six Senses spa, private beach with water sports facilities, bikes to borrow, an observatory, open-air cinema, a floodlit tennis court, badminton, snooker table, group yoga, and tai chi classes, jogging trail, board games, ice-cream parlor, library, a stash of CDs and DVDs, free Wi-Fi.

8. Amanpuri

Amanpuri is tucked away in Surin beach, 30 minutes from Phuket Airport in Thailand. The Amanpuri beach can only be reached via the hotel or by boat, keeping it almost completely private. This hotel is beachside rather than cliffside, so there are no infinity views from the black-tiled swimming pool. Instead, the pool looks through swaying palms and out over the Andaman Sea. A stone staircase leads to Pansea beach, a rustic-chic restaurant, more swimming pools, a watersports center, and tennis courts. An excellent spa is tucked away on the other side of the resort, overlooking Bang Tao beach.

Amanpuri’s rooms are what is unique here. The Garden Pool Pavilion plunge pools must be the most secluded and private hotel swimming pools in Thailand. Don your bikini (or not) and splash in utter isolation. It is also worth noting that pavilions 103 and 105 have the most striking sea views.

9. Belmond Hotel Cipriani

Nestled on the tip of Giudecca Island, the Belmond Hotel Cipriani is just 40 minutes by water taxi from Venice airport and a short boat ride across the water from St Mark’s Square. For our stay, we chose the Junior Suite Pool room (around €2,500 EUR per night in season), which was ideal for our little boy as it opened up to a patio that backed straight onto our reserved loungers by the pool.

This meant that we could go for a dip without the indecency of having to trawl along corridors and down lifts in dressing gowns. The room was the epitome of classic elegance, adorned with handcrafted Murano Glass features, including a handsome blue chandelier resembling an octopus. The marble floors were softened with Turkish silk rugs, and the bathroom was large, with a huge walk-in shower and a double basin sporting lovely smelling designer Hermes amenities. The whole room felt fresh, light, and airy, a pleasure to call home for the duration of our stay.

A highlight of the hotel is, of course, the pool, so it is a huge advantage to be able to step out of your patio windows and into the pool. The pool itself is huge, surrounded by gardens and a bar & restaurant open during the day and again later in the evening. Loungers are arranged by deck boys who will set up your sunbed with just the right shade and provide as many Evian spritzers as you can. Other than the size of this saltwater pool, what was noteworthy was the space around it. Plenty of loungers were available, and you could always find a little peace and quiet.

I actually preferred having direct pool access to the shared pool at the Belmond Cipriani over the plunge pool room at JW Venice. A plunge pool is very nice, but there isn’t much you can do in a plunge pool other than cool down, so having the entire pool on your doorstep is paradise!

10. Amanzoe, Porto Heli

The helicopter flight from Athens to Amanzoe creates a swift segue into an altogether wilder Greece – a place of pure nature, where time stands still. Scattered with Unesco-protected ruins, the beach-fringed Peloponnese has been at the heart of Greek culture for millennia. Its small mountain towns and quaint seaside villages welcome visitors to traditional Greek living at its best.

On the east coast of this fabled peninsula lies Amanzoe. It’s a modern-day Acropolis from which 360-degree views encompass olive groves, Aegean blue, and little else. Designed to meld with the land, suites, and villas with private pools open onto fragrant gardens or the beach, where speedboats lie waiting to zip between secret coves and the nearby islands of Spetses and Hydra.

Drawing on classic Greek architecture, with strong lines and a pared-back aesthetic, Amanzoe’s standalone luxury Pavilions open onto terraces with private plunge pools and views of the surrounding land and sea. Each Pavilion is accessed via a stone-walled courtyard, leading to a high-ceilinged living area and a king-size bed positioned in a marble alcove with views over the Porto Heli vista.
