Tips

Munich, the vibrant capital of Bavaria, offers a mix of cultural richness, historic landmarks, and a thriving culinary scene. For those seeking the ultimate luxury experience, these ten hotels provide exceptional accommodations and gourmet dining that rival Europe's best. Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Starnberg has a Michelin Starred restaurant named Gourmet restaurant Aubergine that captures the culinary art of their head chef Maximilian Moser, who creates culinary works of art with his team.

Useful features of these spacious rooms include power points and good Wi-Fi. Windows are double-glazed to ensure a good, quiet night’s sleep. If you drive here, there’s an excellent and reasonably underground car park on-site, too.

Service & Facilities

On the 5th floor there is a spa with a Finnish sauna, steam room, and a gym that offers great views. While not actually on property, you can jog some beautiful routes along the lake should you wish to extend your exercise regime. The reception team are always happy to point out different tracks.

Food & Drink

Breakfast here is particularly good, and always gets positive comments on Tripadvisor. The buffet is excellent and includes a nice selection of fresh fruit, juices, cereals, cold meats, smoked salmon, Austrian and German sausages, streaky bacon rashers, scrambled, boiled eggs, and breads. There is also a live chef who will cook your omelet selection. A glass of Prosecco is also offered at the weekend.

The hotel actually features 2 restaurants and one bar. In the evening, the Oliv restaurant offers great food and a great selection, as well as a great wait staff.

The Aubergine is the hotel’s gourmet restaurant and has been awarded a Michelin star, joining the ranks of the best gourmet restaurants in Bavaria. It also has two black toques from Gault Millau. This restaurant is enough of a pull to make it worthwhile stopping by this hotel just for the food!

If you choose to eat at Aubergine, the setting is in a conservatory-style glass-walled extension. The upscale, modern decor reflects the creative cuisine of Maximilian Moser. The menu changes with the seasons, and top-quality produce, intense flavors, and beautiful presentation mean this restaurant offers an incredible fine dining experience accompanied by excellent fine wines. It is worth noting that their 5-course menu is also very reasonable price-wise when compared to other restaurants of this caliber.

A hidden gem for those who want a less formal dining setting is The Hemingway Bar, with its library and leather couches. This is an excellent place to relax with great staff and a good food menu, too.

Conclusion

Starnberg is a lovely town and situated in a beautiful part of Germany. This modern hotel offers amazing gourmet cuisine and an ideal base from which to explore the local area and Munich itself.
