We review the best Marriott Bonvoy hotels in Mexico City to earn and spend your loyalty points. The Marriott brand includes Luxury Collection, EDITION, St Regis, W Hotels, and JW Marriott, as well as mid-range brands like Autograph Collection, Renaissance, Sheraton, Le Meridien, Design Hotels, and Westin.
If you are a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum or Titanium elite member, you will get free club lounge access at most Marriott and Sheraton hotels, with the exception of some JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels. This means that, if you are a high-tier member, you can access some of the best executive club lounges in Mexico City.
When choosing areas to stay in Mexico City, the two main areas where you will find all the luxury hotels are Polanco and Reforma. The JW Marriott Hotel Mexico City, InterContinental, Hyatt, and W, along with Habita and Los Alcobas hotels, are all located in Polanca, within a couple of blocks of each other. This is a wealthy but perhaps dull neighborhood that feels safe but doesn’t offer as much of the soul of Mexico City as other areas.
There are loads of high-end shops and restaurants in Polanco. The Museo Soumaya is one of the most stunning pieces of architecture in Mexico City, but getting to and from Polanco can take a long time in Mexico City traffic. As there’s no subway, expect to endure queues.
It’s also worth considering the Sofitel, Marriott, and Hilton in the area of Reforma as alternative hotels. These are in a more vibrant area that is more interesting for walking and seeing historic sites.
1. The St. Regis Mexico City
The St. Regis Mexico City is a Rewards Category 7 Marriott Bonvoy hotel situated close to the Four Seasons Mexico City and stands alongside the tree-lined Paseo de la Reforma. The area feels like a business district, and the hotel is located on a giant boulevard, but it is within walking distance from other neighborhoods like Condesa.
The St. Regis Mexico City is a massive high-rise that rises 31 stories above the Mexico City streets. The hotel offers refined spaces with nods to rich local culture and impeccably appointed accommodations, featuring plush bedding, immaculate marble bathrooms, and floor-to-ceiling windows.
Savor seven dining experiences, from authentic Mexican cuisine to fresh-baked pastries to exclusive dining menus. Luxuriate in restorative signature treatments at the Remède Spa, or lounge by our indoor pool and take in the awe-inspiring views of the vibrant city skyline.
St. Regis, and the Four Seasons for that matter, is well located and easy access to the rest of the city. This is probably the best location of any Marriott in Mexico City. It’s the closest to Roma Norte and Condesa, which are interesting neighborhoods and an easy stroll to Chapultepec Park.
4. Las Alcobas, a Luxury Collection Hotel
Situated in one of Mexico City’s most centrally located and vibrant districts, Las Alcobas, a Luxury Collection Hotel is surrounded by a rich selection of culture, entertainment, dining and shopping attractions in Mexico City. Take a stroll through La Zona de Polanco, or “Polanquito,” a quaint old shopping area with market-style stores, simple restaurants, and artisan folk crafts. Later, move from quaint to exquisite at the popular Masaryk Shopping Area, bedecked with exceptional restaurants, lounges, and high-end boutique and designer stores.
The entire hotel is definitely compact, with a small lobby, no bar, and some restaurants. If you are looking for a full-service, everything-you-want hotel, the St. Regis outlined above is much more modern and much bigger. Las Alcobas arguably has a similarly great location, with great high-end restaurants and good coffee shops a stone’s throw away and offering a nice walk to the big park in Polanco.
35 smallish but luxurious guest rooms include four larger deluxe suites and penthouses, which offer a home-away-from-home” luxury experience. Bathe in the signature five-fixture bathrooms featuring rain showers, soaking whirlpool tubs, and an assortment of handmade body soaps. Every bathroom is finished in marble, and in-room spa amenities guarantee a pristine and intimate spa experience for every guest.
Guestrooms also feature the finest bed linens by Rivolta Carmigiani, hypoallergenic white goose down comforters and pillows, luxury sleep system mattress by Sterns and Fosters, and a rosewood dressing room with signature three-way mirrors and custom closet design.
Dulce Patria is a hotel restaurant, and it’s exceptional. The menu and cocktails are designed by Martha Ortiz, who has given herself the mission of rescuing the traditional tastes, textures, and colors of Mexico’s incomparable gastronomy. Anatol is the other restaurant and acclaimed Chef Justin Ermini has created a concept inspired by international dishes.
Aurora Spa is the Spa at Las Alcobas and is a refuge of style and luxury in the heart of Mexico’s greatest city. These cozy, well-appointed Spa facilities provide a luxurious pampering experience with unique treatments that feature some of Mexico’s most cherished natural resources.
A highlight of this hotel is the breakfast, which is delicious, and because the area is very walkable, you can walk the breakfast off without too much trouble. There are lots of great places to eat and drink nearby, so you can mingle with the young and well-heeled as you explore the area.
3. W Mexico City
W Mexico City is located off Reforma Boulevard in the stylish Polanco neighborhood with chic shops, a fast-paced cultural landscape, and tempting nightlife. Stay in style with sleek, fashionable furnishings and signature touches in the 237 sparkling guest rooms and suites.
Keep the party going at the Living Room Bar, featuring an exclusive, daring décor and the most innovative signature cocktail collection in the city. For business, there are 9 meeting studios totaling 7,700 ft² of space for events from anywhere from 10 to 340 guests.
4. JW Marriott Mexico City
The JW Marriott Hotel Mexico City, InterContinental, Hyatt, and W along with Habita, and Los Alcobas hotels are all within a couple of blocks of each other in the area of Polanco.
JW Marriott Hotel Mexico City is a Rewards Category 6 Marriott Bonvoy hotel, and as we have outlined above, it is nestled in the heart of the Polanco District. From here, you have easy access to Chapultepec Castle on Chapultepec Hill, the National Auditorium, Teotihuacan, and Xochimilco-Floating Gardens.
The rooms here are stylish with a traditional look, overstuffed armchairs, and high–end mattresses. The view of the park and skyline is nice, but be aware that the traffic noise is quite bad as the windows aren’t double-glazed.
In terms of dining, you can fuel up with a delicious Mexican or French dish from their on-site restaurants, Xanat Bistro & Terraza and Brasserie Lipp. There’s an outdoor pool and a rather small health club with cardio equipment and free weights.
The executive lounge is small with dated decor, and it can get crowded, so this not one of the best club lounges in Mexico City. It offers breakfast and dinner buffets which are mainly cold, similar to a domestic US hotel club lounge. This lounge is what you might expect from your average Marriott rather than a JW Marriott. Not great. Reports suggest that the wine is free in this executive lounge with the evening cocktails, but beer is not free.
The hot dishes for the evening offering in the club lounge are usually limited to one chicken and one potato or rice dish, not really filling enough for a main meal, but on the bright side, there are plenty of good restaurants within walking distance.
5. Marriott Reforma
The Marriott Reforma is not as good as the Hilton Reforma outlined above. Both have club lounges, but at the Marriott Reforma, a portion of the rooms face a wall of another building.
This executive club lounge is nice and comes with its own outdoor patio at the top of the hotel building (this club lounge takes up the whole 16th floor), but the drink offering lacks any free alcohol in the evening, so you have to pay hotel prices for your booze. The food is OK but not great, with two basic hot dishes at breakfast (eggs and bacon etc.) and a cold buffet. In the evening, the food is enough to fill you up (just) and Mexican-themed.
Overall, the hotel is a little dated, so the Hilton is the better choice in the area, and if you are looking for the best Marriott in Mexico City with a club lounge, you would do better picking the JW. It is worth noting that this hotel is near the Zona Rosa, which is known to be a high-crime area, so take care if you choose this hotel as your base.
7. Sheraton Mexico City Maria Isabel Hotel
Sheraton Mexico City Maria Isabel Hotel is located on the famed Reforma Avenue in the Zona Rosa district, steps from exceptional shopping, restaurants, and nightlife. Stroll down the avenue to revel in the beauty of the Angel of Independence before walking further until you reach the Bosque de Chapultepec’s lush greenery. Or head in the other direction toward the Spanish colonial facades of the Historic Center, home to the National Palace, Palacio de Bellas Artes, and Metropolitan Cathedral.
There are various restaurants within the hotel, a lobby bar, a heated outdoor pool, and a fitness center with an adjoining sauna. When relaxation calls, slip back to your stylish room or suite, offering cityscape views and Sheraton Signature Sleep Experience beds. The bathroom is small but nice. It is well-lit and stocked with the standard Bliss Sheraton toiletries. Club floors are higher up, and there are great views from the higher rooms. We recommend requesting a room facing the Angel.
The Executive Lounge is on the 18th floor and is large with a sweeping view. They serve an excellent breakfast with smoked salmon, cold cuts, cheese, fresh fruit, hot eggs, sausage, bacon, and assorted juices. There is free coffee and juice and soft drinks throughout the day. In the evening, they serve hot and cold canapes along with one complimentary beer, wine, or cocktail per person.
8. Westin Santa Fe
Westin Santa Fe is about 300m from Sheraton Santa Fe, and it has a really nice club lounge. This is a Rewards Category 4 Marriott Bonvoy hotel, and it is located downtown in the major business district of Santa Fe.
Guests can easily reach the Santa Fe Convention Center and Centro Santa Fe, the second-largest shopping mall in Latin America. With over 12,000 ft² of event space, this hotel also offers the ideal location for your next meeting or event.
Recharge with a number of enhanced amenities, including the Heavenly Spa by Westin™ and the state-of-the-art WestinWORKOUT® Fitness Studio. Enjoy eclectic, nutritious dishes with locally sourced ingredients at the on-site restaurant, Market Kitchen. Guestrooms and suites feature signature plush bedding, marble bathrooms, and stunning views of the city or valley.
The Westin Club Lounge is designed to enhance productivity with complimentary wireless high-speed internet access, free snacks and soft drinks throughout the day, breakfast service, and afternoon hors d’oeuvres and wine.
While the location of this club lounge is terrible for exploring Mexico City, it is an ideal hotel for the flourishing Santa Fe business district. The club lounge has a gorgeous decked outdoor terrace, so while we cannot list this club lounge as the top in Mexico City due to its location in the suburbs, this is one of the nicest modern club lounges in Santa Fe.
9. Courtyard Marriott Mexico City Airport
The Courtyard Marriott Mexico City Airport is ideal if you need to spend the night at the airport. Rooms are standard “Courtyard” in design, and there is good security at this hotel, as you would expect. In terms of getting to the airport, there’s an enclosed walkway from the hotel to Terminal 1, making this hotel extremely convenient for the airport. The room total here is 288, plus there’s a fully-equipped fitness center and free Wi-Fi. The nice thing about this hotel is a big, glass-covered internal courtyard with seats, greenery, and water features. This is a really nice place to relax if you need to spend time at this hotel.
