Located in Gialova, a small coastal village hidden in the green and blooming landscape of the southwestern Peloponnesian province of Messenia, you will find the little gem that is Zoe Resort.
Location
In the local area of the Southwestern Peloponnese, there are several Frankish, Turkish and Venetian castles, some of them remarkably well preserved, like the Paleokastro and Neokastro (translated into old and new castles) of Pylos and the castles of Methoni and Koroni and the Ancient sights of Messini are just 60 km away. Closer by, you will find the Polylimnio waterfalls and Signature Golf Courses, The Bay Course & The Dunes Course.
Style & Character
The word “resort” is somewhat misleading in this case, as Zoe Resort is a far cry from the package holiday type of resort. It would be better described as a rustic, family-run boutique hotel, oozing charm and set in one of the most beautiful spots in Greece. If you don’t believe me, Voidokilia Beach, just a few steps away, has been listed among the 25 most beautiful beaches in Europe. The whole area is peaceful, beautiful, and relaxing, set in olive groves scattered with orange and lemon trees and a riot of beautiful flowers.
Rooms
Zoe Resort has a hotel, in the oldest part of the building, with 28 rooms, most of which were renovated in 2010, and 20 modern Apartments. All the hotel rooms and apartments are equipped with Coco-Mat mattresses, which are renowned for their comfort. Hotel bathrooms have toilets and showers and come as double, 3-bed rooms and special family rooms with two connected bedrooms and a bathroom. Most of them have a shaded balcony with a view of the sea so expect to sit out overlooking the flower-filled gardens, the sparkling swimming pool, and the sea and mountains beyond.
The spacious Apartments and Studios all have a private, shaded balcony or veranda with a view again of the sea and/or the flowery garden. They have double beds, a fully equipped kitchen, and a bathroom with a shower and bathtub. Rooms and apartments are kept cool by shaded balconies and, during those rare days in which there is no breeze coming in from the sea, by air conditioners.
Service & Facilities
The beach which edges the resort is the ideal place to laze. The soft sand slopes gently into the clear blue sea, so it’s safe for even the littlest of children to play at the water’s edge. If you’re tired of working on your suntan, you can snooze or eat at the Natura Restaurant in the dappled shade of the palms, tamarisks, and oleanders which line the beach. And, of course, if the sea is not your thing, you can take a dip in the cool swimming pool.
Food & Drink
Pamper your taste buds with original Greek cuisine in the dappled shade of palm trees, looking out over the beach and Navarino Bay. All the dishes are prepared with fresh, organic ingredients grown in the Zoe Resort gardens. The fresh seafood offered at the restaurant comes straight from Navarino Bay. It includes sea bass, bream, tuna, red mullet, and lobster. Sit and eat dinner under the lantern-lit trees and watch the sunset over the sea and mountains.
Breakfast, including homemade orange marmalade and freshly pressed orange juice, is served under the trees in the morning breeze. Why does al fresco dining just make everything taste better?
Conclusion
Zoes is not pretentious or deeply luxurious, but it is a lovely and unique boutique resort that is deeply cared for. If you want peace, tranquility, relaxation, to walk and swim in some astonishingly spectacular and quiet beaches, and if you want a view from your room that resembles a travel brochure, then you will love a stay at Zoe Resort.
