Book A Hotel

Which are the best luxury hotels in Puerto Rico with executive club lounges? These include Ritz-Carlton San Juan, InterContinental San Juan, Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico, and Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino.

Puerto Rico is a Caribbean island packed full of nature. Explore rainforests, coral reefs, and beautiful bays. San Juan is renowned for its historic walled center, museums, and casinos, but once you leave the city, you can hike through tropical rainforests and dive among coral reefs off Mona Island, home of sunken Spanish galleons. Tour the phosphorescent bays at Las Cabezas de San Juan Nature Reserve or Vieques’ Mosquito Bay on a moonless night, where tiny organisms illuminate the waters.

As a major hub for small planes to the rest of the islands, many travelers know more about the San Juan airport than the adventures awaiting on this beautiful island a thousand miles southeast of Miami, FL. Puerto Rico is almost the 51st state, as it is under the U.S. customs jurisdiction but retains local government and populace proud of its autonomy. Puerto Rico runs on the U.S. dollar, and English is widely spoken. Plus, many U.S. mobile phone carriers offer service without extra fees, so a vacation here can be a home away from home.

I have compiled a list below containing the club lounges available across luxury hotels in Puerto Rico. I list the lounges I consider the best of the best. I will be reviewing each of these hotel club lounges in detail so that you know what you’ll get if you book a room with club lounge access or get upgraded to a club lounge for free because of your loyalty status.

1. The Ritz-Carlton, San Juan

The Ritz-Carlton, San Juan, is a Marriott Bonvoy Rewards Category 7 Marriott hotel which is located on a two-mile stretch of golden-sand beach in Isla Verde, minutes from historic Old San Juan. The warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean caress this pristine beachfront property in Isla Verde.

The resort features 416 rooms and suites, including The Ritz-Carlton Club Level with exclusive culinary and beverage offerings throughout the day; five restaurants, including BLT Steak and Il Mulino New York, as well as the recently unveiled speakeasy; a world-class spa and fitness center; 24-hour in-room dining; a swimming pool overlooking the beach; a vibrant casino; and a Ritz-Kids program. Puerto Rico’s most popular attractions are also easily accessible in the cosmopolitan culture and nightlife of San Juan.

A highlight is The Ritz-Carlton Club® Level club lounge which is perfectly located on the ninth floor with azure views of the Atlantic Ocean and lush gardens of the hotel. A “hotel within a hotel,” the Club Level combines privacy, comfort, and exclusivity with the personalized service and attention to detail that are the hallmarks of The Ritz-Carlton, San Juan, making it the ideal place to conduct business, plan a family outing or simply unwind.

The welcoming lounge offers complimentary food and beverage presentations, including continental breakfast, light lunch, hors d’oeuvres, cordials, and sweets, which may be enjoyed on the exclusive balcony with spectacular ocean views.

2. Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico

Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico is a beachside getaway with freeform pools steps from the water. This family-friendly resort is framed against the backdrop of the beautiful El Yunque rainforest. Here, you can relax by the sprawling lagoon-style pool, get a round of golf in at one of two Tom Kite designed 18-hole championship golf courses, or tour the historic buildings of nearby Old San Juan.

This club lounge is super smart with dark wood furnishings, wall separators with intricate glass and wood designs, and classy white seating. It also has an incredible outdoor deck that is walled off to stop ordinary guests from using it and a water feature that gurgles away in the background.

The food is less impressive, with a continental breakfast, snacks, and drinks in the evening. The alcoholic drinks are charged for, and the canapés are limited to one hot item along with fruits, vegetables, cheese, and cold cuts.

3. Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino

Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino has a club lounge open seven days a week. This hotel and the Ritz-Carlton above are the only two Marriott hotels in Puerto Rico with executive club lounges.

Situated in the midst of the Puerto Rico Convention Center District, in front of San Juan Bay, this hotel is a district centerpiece that is conveniently located just 10 minutes from the international airport and five minutes from historic Old San Juan.

There are several great hotel dining options, bars, and lounges, a world-class casino, a full-service spa, a 4th-floor sundeck with an infinity pool, and a hotel near the beach.

Book a club room; you will get a better view and extensive views from the club lounge. Open seven days a week, you will get daily continental breakfast for two, all-day snacks and drinks, evening hors d’oeuvres, local coffee, free Wi-Fi, business center facilities, arrangements for an early check-in upon availability and access to a copier, fax, and printer.

There are Hilton hotels in Puerto Rico, but they don’t have executive levels or lounges so they do not make it into our best club lounge review.
