4. The St. Regis Vommuli Resort, Maldives
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide opened the St. Regis Vommuli Resort, Maldives in Nov 2016 as the first St. Regis brand in the Maldives. Located on Dhaalu Atoll Vommuli, the St. Regis Vommuli Resort offers 77 private villas will include majestic manta ray-shaped lagoon villas and the John Jacob Astor Estate, one of the largest villas in the Maldives, which will span 1,540 m² and feature a 92m private pool, as well as a spa room, fitness area and mini theatre. The resort will offer six distinct dining venues, a 24-hour butler service for all guests, a nature discovery center, and a dive center.
5. Hurawalhi Island Resort & Spa
Hurawalhi Island Resort & Spa, is located in the pristine Lhaviyani Atoll. This hotel is brand new and opened in November 2016. With 90 new stylish Ocean and Beach Villas, this adults-only hotel offers unique additional services such as the professional photo concierge who will capture life-long memories.

The Cocoon, Maldives opened at the end of 2016 and is located on the stunning island of Ookolhufinolhu in Lhaviyani Atoll. Along with three restaurants, two bars, a dive center, a spa, a gym, and a kid’s club, there are 150 beach and overwater villas.
7. Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort
This resort opened mid-2017 so there are no online reviews yet but Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort, which is located on Gaafu Alifu Atoll, describes itself as mid-scale which falls in line with other Mercure hotels which are well known to offer luxury at a reasonable price.
Don’t expect a Four Seasons level of rooms and facilities at this 68-villa resort, but there are 43 pretty over-water villas that are stylish and luxurious. The resort is built using local materials, bright colours, and stylish furniture and interior designs to reflect the Maldivian culture and the spirit of travel. The resort will also offer a fitness center, tennis facilities, two restaurants and bars, a range of watersports, and a kids club.
8. Baglioni Resort Maldives
Opening March 2018, the Baglioni Resort Maldives (pictured above) will offer paradise with Italian grace. 96 ultra-luxury villas will be complemented with gourmet dining and a Jungle Spa, with natural treatments in a lush, tropical setting.
R&B Boutique Hotel, Maldives
Just 10 minutes from Male International Airport makes the R& B Boutique Hotel easy to get to. Ten beautifully designed suites will each resemble a different culture from around the world, and an international restaurant will serve global dishes. There will be a roof-top pool and health club, and spa, and the hotel is ideally located for an airport layover if your flight arrives very late at night or leaves early in the morning, and you need to be close to the airport.
