Bali is known for its thick, tropical forests, volcanic hillsides, pretty beaches, coral reefs, and spiritual essence. We review the top 10 best beachfront resorts in Bali so that you know where to stay.

Also known as the “Island of Gods,” there are many distinct areas; Seminyak is a chic, cosmopolitan beach resort area that appeals to luxury travelers. It also offers spectacular waves, breathtaking sunsets, and vibrant nightlife. Nusa Dua offers manicured lawns fronting world-class hotels. Ubud is the spiritual center of Bali, with views over the lime-green paddy fields.

January is the hottest and the wettest month in Bali, with temperatures averaging 28°C (82°F). July is the coolest month, averaging 26°C (78°F). You can, therefore, expect a warm, tropical climate all year round but with more rain in November, December, January, and February. The best time to travel to Bali is in April, May, June, and September, just before and after the high season (which falls in July and August).

We have compiled a list containing the best beachfront resorts in Bali. Whichever you pick, Bali is a magical island, and you will have a wonderful stay.

1. Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort

Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort mixes French elegance with Balinese culture in a lavish 5-star beachfront location. The resort also offers gorgeously landscaped pools and 8 hectares of tropical gardens bordered by an immaculate stretch of white sand on the edge of the Indian Ocean. Denpasar International Airport is just a 15-minute drive away.

The pool is ‘lazy river’ in style, meandering under bridges and around the main pool area. It is the perfect place to cool off unless you prefer to laze on the beautiful beach that borders the resort.

The exceptional SoSPA at Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort will help you unwind with soothing and anti-aging treatments.

The spacious rooms are beautifully furnished with amazing bathrooms offering a walk-in rain shower and a free-standing bathtub. Even the base “luxury” rooms are excellent here. They are large, with 48 m² of living space, a small sofa, and a balcony. The bathroom is open with an excellent bathtub. The welcome gift here is chocolates, bottled water, and fruit.

If you have kids or like a swim, upgrade to a pool access room; these are swim-up pool rooms. Your kids will want to leap straight out of bed and into the pool. If you book a Luxury Room with a Plunge Pool, you get your own private garden with a pool and sunbed. The kid’s club is also ideal for younger guests if you can drag them away from the pool!

If you upgrade to a Club Room, you get free food and drink and can use a separate and exclusive pool in the Club Lounge. Upgrading to these Club Millésime rooms, suites, and villas offer great value. Club lounge membership means that you can escape to a quiet and exclusive area to sit, relax, eat, and drink. Lounge access includes a sumptuous breakfast, all-day refreshments, evening canapés, an extensive selection of wines, butler services, and many other special benefits.

In the morning, you can have breakfast in Kwee Zeen, which is built around a spiral staircase from the lobby. Seating is indoors and outdoors, and there are loads of buffet choices, including bread, pastries, fruit, yogurts, cereals, and cook-to-order food stations for eggs and dishes like Indonesian noodles.

Evening cocktails and wine tasting takes place in the lounge and is a refined occasion with loads of wines and some great cocktails, along with high-quality light bites and hot canapés passed around by the lounge staff. The canapés are really good and include sandwiches, cheese, and veggies on toast in canapé style, and lots of desserts but all in very small portions, which may or may not be enough to fill you up. You might find you need to eat out in the evening.

The Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort offers lime green tropical grounds, beautiful pools, and picture-perfect beaches under the Bali sunshine. The colors are amazing, the staff are amazing and always smiling, the meandering tropical pool is amazing, and the beach.. you’ve got it.. is amazing too.

2. Four Seasons at Jimbaran Bay

The stunning all-villa Four Seasons Resort sits right on the beach at Jimbaran Bay and spreads across 14 hectares, reaching right down to the golden sands at the end of Jimbaran Bay. This resort is easy to get to in a taxi, just 20 minutes from the airport.

Designed around the hillside, this Balinese resort has 147 gorgeous villas that seem to meld into the tropical gardens. The beach and infinity pool are reached via meandering pathways, taking you through colorful gardens wafting with hibiscus, jasmine, and frangipani and across beautifully manicured lawns.

Rooms mix creams with Balinese touches, and glass doors lead out to private pools. Bathrooms have double sinks, indoor and outdoor showers, and stand-alone tubs.

Breakfast is served alfresco and offers a smorgasbord of delights, including many items you didn’t even know you wanted. The Pool Terrace Cafe keeps you going with snacks and healthy burgers, and you can also grab a snack or a cocktail at the beach club.

The open-air Taman Wantilan restaurant offers theatre-style dining presented by a brigade of specialty chefs at nine culinary exhibitions or show kitchens, perfect for romance.

Of course, there is no Four Seasons rewards program, but if you are a regular guest of the Four Seasons or even want to try this iconic brand for the first time, you can take advantage of loyalty style benefits at Four Seasons hotels for no extra cost by booking your next stay via our luxury travel concierge.

3. Amankila

Amankila is set to the picturesque backdrop of Mount Agung and is one of the most romantic resorts on the island of Bali. This beach resort comprises 34 little villas dotted up the hillside and joined to each other by pretty paths.

Each villa is a beach house hut with a thatched roof and a terrace furnished with coconut-shell tables, rattan chairs, and day-beds for relaxing in the sun and under the stars.

Amankila is located on the silvery gold sands of Jimbaran Bay, the same beach as our favorite Four Seasons hotel above. There is a huge lap pool by the Beach Club and Amankila’s signature three-tier infinity pools, which drop down from the reception to the shore and are lined with loungers and more thatched buildings.

Views are romantic and look straight out across the Lombok Strait. The airport can be reached in 20 minutes, making Amankila easy to get to.

4. St Regis Bali

The St. Regis Bali Resort lies in the heart of the beautiful “Garden of Bali” on a stretch of pristine beach. Its 123 superb suites and villas offer understated elegance and panoramic ocean views over 22 acres of lush gardens and the 39,480 ft² crystal blue lagoon.

All suites and villas and the beachside private residence have private signature St. Regis Butler Service and complimentary Wi-Fi. On-site are award-winning dining venues, bars, the distinctive Remède Spa, a fitness center, and a Children’s Learning Center.

This is the only resort in Bali with ten beachfront villas with pools and direct access to their private beach. Surely a reason to list this as one of the most romantic hotels in Bali.

5. The Ritz-Carlton Bali

Offering 313 spacious and sumptuously appointed suites and villas in an elegant tropical ambiance, The Ritz-Carlton Bali is a luxurious resort with a stunning clifftop and beachside setting.

Tranquil views over the azure waters of the Indian Ocean provide the perfect setting. Along the foreshore are The Ritz-Carlton Club, six stylish dining venues, an indulgent and exotic marine-inspired Spa, a glamorous beachfront chapel, and recreational activities at Ritz Kids.

Experience exquisite service at The Ritz-Carlton Club with your own exclusive Ritz-Carlton Club Concierge. This is the best club lounge in Bali and has its own private pool and a manned cocktail bar.

Ritz-Carlton hotels don’t offer free club lounge access to Marriott Bonvoy elite members. You only get lounge access if you book a club room. This particularly excellent club lounge is located in its own villa, halfway between the bottom of the lobby and the beach.

This lounge also offers red and white wine and beer all day with special cocktails and spirits and after-dinner liquors. The food on offer is massively generous. It will fill you up and make paying for this lounge’s access worthwhile.

6. InterContinental Bali

The InterContinental Bali Resort is nestled in 34 tropical acres of lush tropical gardens overlooking Jimbaran Bay on Bali’s southern tip. It is just 10 minutes from Denpasar International Airport (DPS) and is big, with 417 guest rooms, including a Club InterContinental wing and an open-air lobby.

Designed with the ambiance of a tranquil Balinese village, this five-star luxury property is built on the shores of the beautiful Jimbaran Bay. It is perfectly positioned for guests to experience stunning sunsets.

There is plenty of room for sunbathing around the six pools, including one with fountains that you can swim around in and underneath the jets. There’s more room on the beach with comfy loungers everywhere. It’s worth noting that the beach is quite rocky, so jelly shoes would be useful here.

The rooms are beautiful, with lots of dark wood, and the Club rooms are slightly larger (624 ft² instead of 527 ft²). The bathrooms are marble with double vanity and huge, and the rooms have large terraces.

You can then pay to upgrade and access the InterContinental Club Lounge. The 24/7 Club InterContinental lounge is very good here. The classic colonial-style design meets Oriental refinement with a crystal chandelier centerpiece and a grand piano.

There’s indoor seating in air-conditioned comfort leading to an outdoor terrace overlooking a lagoon where you can enjoy the complimentary food and drink along with a selection of daily local and international newspapers and lifestyle publications.

One of the pools is exclusively for Club InterContinental guests (i.e., lounge guests). Kids are also allowed but must remain calm in this pool. Club InterContinental guests can also use the Jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna at Spa Uluwatu, and you can continue using the club until you leave the resort (even if you have checked out).

7. Conrad Bali

If you are a Hilton Honors Diamond member or have brand loyalty to Hilton, you must try the beachfront Conrad Bali. It has some of the best hotel rooms in Bali for a major brand.

This hotel is simply stunning, from the grand, dark wood lobby with windows that swing open to the vista beyond to the lagoon pools and the huge variety of rooms, some with their own private pool.

The Pool Villas are the ones to pick, and they have private plunge pools and gardens. These villas are hidden away between the reflections lounge and the executive lounge.

Guests staying in these villas will have access to the executive lounge at the Conrad Bali. These Pool Villas, although not large, are perfectly formed with their own private garden, plunge pool, sun terrace, and outdoor tub. You have all the usuals within the room, including a double sink, etc., and a large shower area that doubles as a private steam room.

The hotel itself is located on the quieter side of the island of Bali, in the Nusa Dua resort area and away from the madness of trendy Seminyak. A taxi from the airport to the Conrad Bali hotel takes about 20 minutes.

Compared to the Marriott Bonvoy St Regis hotel in Bali, the Pool Villas in Conrad Bali do not quite match up, but this is taken into account in the price. For cost per enjoyment, the Conrad Bali is hard to beat and is definitely one of the best resorts in Nusa Dua. When you stay in a Conrad Pool Villa, you will wake up to the sound of birdsong and waves lapping on the shore. Romance Paradise? It certainly comes close.

8. Novotel Bali Nusa Dua Hotel & Residences

Many luxurious hotels in Bali are situated in Nusa Dua. This exclusive area is hidden away from the chaos of the rest of the island. The Novotel Bali Nusa Dua Hotel and Residences embraces the authentic warmth of Balinese hospitality and offers fabulous pools nestled within this exclusive and secure, gated community. Here, immaculate green manicured lawns front world-class hotels nestled within this luxury enclave. There is also an upmarket shopping complex, an 18-hole golf course, and golden sandy beaches in this area of Bali.

The resort is only 20-minute drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport and the Kuta area. You are a 2-minute walk from the 18-hole championship Bali National Golf Club, and a 5-minute drive to Bali International Convention Center, Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, and the shopping and dining destination Bali Collection. Famous tourist attractions such as Uluwatu Temple and beautiful beaches including Pandawa Beach and Padang-Padang Beach, are nearby.

4.8 hectares of lush tropical gardens surround a 1,500 m² enormous two-tier lagoon pool which forms the center of the resort. Ten buildings containing accommodation can be found among fish ponds, greenery, and nature, including tropical birds and friendly squirrels.

The hotel features 169 modern and spacious Deluxe rooms and comprehensive apartment-style suites, which incorporate contemporary design and modern interiors equipped with a kitchenette, living and dining room, generous private balcony, and free Wi-Fi.

The huge freeform swimming pool is the highlight here. Loungers are grouped under pretty flowering trees that surround the pool to offer shade, and little islands in the pool offer greenery and more trees and make the pool a stunning setting. The hotel has its own private patch of beach with its own beach club, plus there is a gym, spa, and a daily Kids Club as well as meeting rooms and event space.

Novotel’s signature all-day dining restaurant, The Square, offers delectable international and local cuisine. Or sit back and relax by the pool at the Gourmet Bar to enjoy a light meal and drinks in an easy-living atmosphere.

Discover the fresh and authentic Lenotre recipe of bread, pastries, and cakes at Pause Café every day. Pause Café also serves breakfast to dinner with a tantalizing selection in a cozy and friendly atmosphere.

Watch the beautiful sunrise on the Indian Ocean horizon at 2.28 Private Beach Club and enjoy an ultimate tropical chill-out overlooking the serene, white sandy Nusa Dua Beach. The beach club offers a variety of Western cuisine, light meals, and refreshing cocktails.

9. Grand Hyatt Bali

The Grand Hyatt is located in Nusa Dua beach, with a pristine 650-meter beach frontage and 5-star facilities. While the rooms are typical Asian Hyatt, which is a good version of American Hyatt’s, the bathrooms at this Hyatt are truly stunning and massive in the suites with masses of cream marble and a separate shower and tub.

The resort itself is edged by the most glorious golden sand, which enjoys stunning sunrises and has numerous pools. Some seem to be aimed at families, with others being more adult orientated. One has a kid’s waterslide, which will attract your kids.

Club rooms have their own building situated by the Club lounge and with a private Club pool. The Grand Club is open-air and designed to look like a Balinese house with straw roofing with breakfast and cocktail hours along with all-day snacks and drinks.

Breakfast is continental and more, with fruit, yogurt, bread, and pastries, along with chefs cooking egg orders and pancakes. Two additional hot items are served daily, like sausage and mushrooms are also served.

During happy hour, you get cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits along with a huge amount of food; soup, veggies, burritos, spring rolls, bread, dips, and desserts. All delicious and more than enough to fill you up.

The club lounge here is well worth the upgrade, even if you are booking on points and have to pay for it. This Grand Hyatt is a bargain At 12,000 points per night or around $200 USD per night, and although there is not much to do in the immediate vicinity (the same goes throughout Nusa Dua, you are somewhat stuck in your resort), this hotel is a magical place to stay.

10. Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa, Bali

Set in lush tropical gardens, the 5-star Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa, Bali features 3 outdoor pools and a private beach. Designed to resemble a Balinese palace, rooms have a balcony or terrace with views of the tropical gardens or the beach.

Their palace club wing offers a private palace within the hotel. 57 Palace Club Rooms overlook the mature landscaped gardens, while the 25 Palace Club Suites offer a spacious adjoining living room luxuriously equipped with state-of-the-art entertainment systems.

They say: “Immerse in the sublime surroundings as you step into the stylish and sophisticated indulgence of your Lagoon Access retreat. You’ll love waking up to natural daylight through full-length glass sliding doors opening onto your veranda, with the tranquillity of lagoon waters just at your fingertips.”
