The second Four Seasons hotel in Boston, Four Seasons Hotel One Dalton Street, Boston, was unveiled in 2019 and is housed in the third tallest building in Boston. It has more than made its mark ever since. Ahead of our stay, we were excited about the central location, excellent dining opportunities, and stunning swimming pool. While we adored all this, we fell for the exceptionally warm and inviting service, the exquisite urban architecture and interior design, and the stunning city vistas. Plus, the pool!
Location
Four Seasons One Dalton is centrally located in Boston. It can be found located next to the Prudential Centre adjacent to Back Bay. Just across the river is MIT, the Museum of Fine Arts is less than a mile away, and Boston Public Library is just half a mile away. It’s also near lots of green space and beautiful gardens, with Fenway Victory Gardens just across Massachusetts Avenue, less than a mile away. The hotel lies 20 minutes away from Logan Airport, which is 5.6 miles away.
Style & Character
Housed in a stunning slightly-rounded triangular-shaped 61-story skyscraper, the hotel is in great company with the Prudential Tower next door and the Hancock Tower just down the street. It’s such a striking building, very tall and narrow. You can always pick it out when you are exploring the city, which makes it easy to find your way back! I was amused by the fire escape diagram highlighting its triangular shape. It’s so unusual! Inside, a wonderful urban chic haven awaits, which is both contemporary and very luxurious. This hotel has that typical Four Seasons sophistication with an enviable art collection and a tremendous burst of color amidst the trendy greys and whites.
Rooms
There are 215 guest rooms, which include 41 spacious suites. They all feel fresh and new, as does the whole hotel. The rooms span floors 8 to 21, with the top floors being home to Private Residences. The windows are all floor-to-ceiling, with the guest rooms on the higher floors benefitting from the most awe-inspiring city views. The Charles Suite boasts a stunning wrap-around corner terrace – I think I’d struggle to leave! But even without a terrace, watching the sun set over Boston from our huge windows with a chilled beverage was the perfect end to our day of sightseeing.
The in-room amenities are 5-star. Truly excellent which you’d expect from Four Seasons. There’s plenty of coffee for your Nespresso machine, a very well-stocked minibar, and the heavenly large marble bathrooms with walk-in rainfall showers to look forward to during your stay.
Our bathroom was open to the suite with doors on the shower and toilet for privacy and a gorgeous stand-alone deep soaking tub, positioned to divide the bathroom from the bedroom with a great view of the television set into the bathroom mirror; a much fought-over spot between us! We also really liked the tech extras here; there are touch controls for the blinds and lights, and an iPad is provided in your room where you can access things like room service, concierge services, and local information.
Service & Facilities
The Four Season One Dalton, Boston facilities are quite literally first class. There is an entire floor dedicated to Wellness with a vast state-of-the-art fitness center, a spa with five treatment rooms where you can relax with a custom massage, a steam room, and my favorite; a stunning 64-foot indoor swimming pool. The lap pool is sleek, curved, and lined with more massive windows to make the most of your city views. It’s surrounded by plenty of loungers and sofa chairs for you to relax before and after your dip. The whole space has a chilled vibe, but it’s still super stylish, with flint-adorned walls and an epic sculpture hanging from the ceiling.
There is also private parking, complimentary Wi-Fi, free bikes can be borrowed, and room service is not only available, but it’s available via the super convenient Four Seasons app. Hence, it’s nearly as much of a pleasure to order as it is to receive!
The outstanding Four Seasons service that we have enjoyed at many Four Seasons hotels worldwide was very much felt here at One Dalton, Boston. The door staff are so warm and friendly they give the very best initial welcome to the hotel, which is then seamlessly continued with the charming reception staff. Everyone we came across was really welcoming, and it was a pleasure to be greeted so enthusiastically as you come and go.
Food & Drink
Don’t miss the ultra-chic restaurant, Zuma, where picture-perfect Japanese delicacies are presented to perfection, emphasizing sharing plates. Zuma is a thriving worldwide brand, and it’s evident its clientele are as delighted they have made the Four Seasons One Dalton their home as I’m sure Four Seasons are!
The restaurant is located on the second floor and has a reputation for cocktails almost as much as the cuisine itself! The décor is heavenly. It was one of our favorite spaces in the hotel, with stunning wooden bars, fabulous lighting, and three open kitchens; the principal kitchen, a sushi station, and a robata counter where eight people can sit and watch their food being grilled. The vibrant bar, complete with a DJ booth, is also worth a visit with a very tempting drinks menu. It’s firmly on the list of where to be seen in Boston.
An excellent breakfast can be enjoyed at One on One restaurant, which is a hot brunch spot on the weekends, too, with an extensive and varied menu to set you up nicely.
The Trifekta lobby lounge is a wonderfully relaxing space. After a busy day exploring the city, returning and being able to relax here felt like coming home to our own lounge. We were torn between the beautiful afternoon tea spreads and the rather fabulous cocktails! In summer months, the patio area would be the place to people watch over said cocktail!
Conclusion
The Four Seasons One Dalton, Boston, is an excellent addition to Boston’s hotel scene. The location was perfect for making the most of the city. The Four Seasons service and facilities were every bit as good as we’ve always found them; add to this mix the chic urban architecture and design, that pool, and great dining options, and you’ve got a very desirable combination. Pay them a visit, and you’ll be just as hooked as us!
